- All right, hope everybody's had a wonderful, wonderful week. - Yes, brother Doug, we have. - All right, great, good, good. - Did you see Sandy? - Yeah. (laughing) Good, good. So, for y'all, this first time you're here, what we do, we go verse by verse. We'll take a book and we go verse by verse in God's word, learning as we go, God willing, through his books. And that's how we teach the Bible and that's the way we want to teach it. So, that's what we're going to do, God willing. So, last week, we left off in the book of Jude. We've been going verse by verse throughout the book of Jude. And we left off in verse 13. Now, Jude has been comparing the ungodly to things of nature. Things that we can visualize ourselves if we would just take the time to do so. Jude started comparing the ungodly to things of nature back in verse 12, where Jude says-- - Hey. - Hey! - Somebody wants to talk to you, I think. - I'm sorry, excuse me. Hey, I'm going in, hello. - Hello. - We didn't see someone way down there. - Oh, you didn't see her? - I just said, "I'm now." - Oh, I appreciate it. - You said break every time you guys? There you go. Show them how to sing, Priscilla. Sorry. - That's okay. Okay, so where were we now? We left off in verse 13 where Jude has been comparing ungodly, the ungodly, to things of nature. And he says in verse 12, These are spots in your feast of charity. Now remember, we talked about what spots were back when we was in verse 12. That's like an open reef that you can see from the ocean or the sea when you're on it. When you're riding on the sea, you don't want to get up on those jagged edges, the spots. These are spots in your feast of charity when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear. Clouds they are without water, carried about of winds. "Trees whose fruit withereth without fruit, "twice dead, plucked up by the roots," verse 13, "raging waves of the sea foaming out their own shame, "wandering stars, to whom is reserved "the blackness of darkness forever." Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your precious word, Lord. Thank you for those who have come today, Lord, to hear your word, Father, talk, Lord. And Lord, we just pray that you would let your spirit just teach us now, Lord, and show us your word, Lord. Help us to understand, Lord, and pray that the saints are edified here today, Lord, by the passing out of the loathsome and the vicious, Father, and that the unsaved, Lord, or the ungodly are appointed to you, Father. And we thank you so much, Lord, for all that you do, and we thank you for this day that you've blessed us with, Lord, to come together, Lord, and ask you, sons, in Jesus' name now, Lord, that we start into your word, Lord. Amen. - Amen. - Okay, so, now this is where we stopped last week. To whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever? To whom is reserved? The word reserve is translated from the Greek word Tereo, Tereo, and it's spelled T-E-R-E-O in Greek, meaning to guard. So let's just say if Brother Larry was wanting to go to the Bahamas and see the sights and spend a month there, he would be wanting a place to sleep and safely store his extra clothes and all his other personal belongings that he brought along for the trip. And he would want a place to take a shower and get refreshed so he could go out and see all the sights that he could in time frame that he had. Now, in order for him to make sure that he had this place, in order to make sure that he would have a place that accommodate this need that needs to be filled in order that he could enjoy his time in the Bahamas, he would do some very in-depth research and find the best hotel that he can afford. And then he would call this hotel and tell them that he wanted to reserve a room for himself. The person on the other end of the phone says, "Okay, we will reserve a room for you." Now, Brother Larry has just asked the hotel representative to make sure that they have a room available for him when he gets there. Brother Larry just made an agreement with the hotel representative to guard his room for him so when Brother Larry gets to the Bahamas, he has a place secured for him to stay. The hotel rep has agreed to guard or reserve a room for him to stay upon his arrival. When Brother Larry gets to the Bahamas, he has a room reserved for him there in the Bahamas. The ungodly have a place reserved for them upon their arrival. The ungodly have a place reserved for them upon their arrival. They do not have to phone ahead or email for a reservation. It is already made. Those who have not believed God and accepted His Son as their Savior already have made their reservation by simply refusing to believe God. John 3.18 says, "He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." The word condemned comes from the Greek word krino, spelled K-R-I-N-O in to punish. We are all born ungodly, folks. We are all born condemned because we are all sinners. It is faith in Christ that separates the ungodly from the godly. Galatians 3.22 says, "But the scripture hath concluded all under sin." Now remember last week we said "But the Scripture hath concluded all under sin." There's not a one of us born that are not born into sin. It goes on here in Galatians and says, "That the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe." Believe. Those who do not believe the ungodly have a place reserved in the blackness of darkness forever. Why? Because they love darkness rather than light. John 3, 19 says, "And this is the condemnation, that light is coming to the world and men love darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. 320 goes on to say, for everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 321, but he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God, You come to the light, you agree with God, "Lord, I'm a sinner." That they are wrought in God. God has already paid for all your sins, folks. They've already been paid for. They were paid for thousands of years ago when Christ died on that cross. He went to the cross and He died for your sins. They have already been paid for. But you need to come to the light. And you need to agree with God. Amen. Those who do not believe the ungodly have a place reserved in the blackness of darkness forever. Now this is no monthly reservation in the Bahamas, folks. This is a reservation for the ungodly that lasts forever. Not any chance to leave. Why is it in the blackness of darkness? Because it is absent from God. It is without light. The ungodly have turned their backs to Jesus, who is the light. John 8.12 says, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. "He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 12, 44 says, "Jesus cried and said, 'He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words and believe not, I judge him not, for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me and receiveth not my word hath one that judgeth him. The word that I have spoken the same shall judge him in the last day." Folks, you do not want to be standing in front of God on the day of judgment. John 12, verse 49, "For I have not spoken of myself but the Father which sent me. He gave me a commandment what I should say and what I should speak, and I know that His commandment is life everlasting. "Whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak, the ungodly have not the light. They shall abide in the blackness of darkness." We're going to close today by reading 1 Peter chapter 1, 3-9. I believe you all are marked in 1 Peter. 1 Peter chapter one through nine, I believe I said. You got it, Don. Everybody got it? You got it in this works? We got you marked there. I don't know. Excuse me. Thank you. You're welcome, ma'am. First Lady of the Chastened. Oh, look right here, you guys. Let's see, Miss John. - I love you too. - This doesn't have the, we'll have to get you a different Bible. I'm not saying that this is a little confusing for me. - I need you to give me one, I just couldn't find it. - Okay. - I'm trying to think of where I read it last night, and I don't know if I ever got it. - First Peter chapter one, verse three says, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again into a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The gospel of Christ, folks, Jesus went to the cross and died on the cross for your sins. He was taken down from that cross, he was put in a tomb where he laid for three days. On the third day, Jesus rose from that grave and went on to be with the Father. That is the gospel of Jesus Christ, folks. That is the gospel of Christ. He says, "He raised begotten us again to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." He came out of that tomb. "To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you." Now, who are you? Believers. Believers. Those who believe what God has said. There is a place reserved in heaven for you. Yes. The ungodly do not have that. The ungodly has a place reserved in the darkness of blackness forever. Or the blackness of darkness forever. No light. Forever separated from God. He says, "To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, the believer, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time." Kept by the power of God. Is there anything stronger than God? Nobody's gonna take your salvation from you. They gotta go through God first to take it. And that's not happening, folks. You're not going through my God to take salvation away. It's not happening. That just gives me, woo! That makes me happy to say that. I'm not gonna lose my salvation, man. "I was unkept by the power of God through faith "unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. "Wherein ye greatly rejoice." Woo hoo! Woo! "Though now for a season, if need be, "ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations. "Day by day by day." We live in a sinful world here. There are temptations that come. There's hard times. We see things going on that's just awful. And I hate seeing it. But I can rejoice in knowing that that's not gonna last forever. It's not lasting forever. He says in 1 7, that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than a gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Folks, I don't care what's going on. Things is tough and they liable to get tougher. The Bible says it's going to get tougher. You keep your eyes on the cross. Keep your eyes on the cross. Jesus is coming back someday and he's gonna straighten this whole mess out. Amen. First Peter 1A says, Whom having not seen ye love. Folks, we walk by faith, not by sight. Whom having not seen ye love, in whom though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. One nine says, receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. The ungodly do not have faith. They're going to receive the end of their faith. They don't have faith. The end of their faith is second death, reserved in blackness of darkness forever. Those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ-- folks, I'll say it again. I don't know who said it, but there is no joy like salvation joy. My faith in Christ helps me to get through tough times, and it helps me to help others get through tough times. I want everyone to know Jesus Christ. That's why I stand here. There was a time I didn't, and I couldn't stand here, but I do now. And I want you to know Jesus Christ as your Savior. But I can't force that upon you. Only you can choose Jesus Christ. And I pray that you will. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for another lesson that you've blessed us with, Lord, that we come to share with the people here today, Lord. And Father, we pray, Lord, that you will glorify here today, Lord, that Jesus was glorified here today, Lord, and that all eyes were pointed to you, Lord. Thank you Lord for your precious word that you've blessed us with, Father. And I pray for those who don't read your word, Lord. I pray that they would pick your word up, lay their eyes on it, Lord, and that you would just draw them to the cross, Father. Show them Jesus through your word, Lord. Lord, we want to pray for all those with surgeries coming up, Lord. I had one mentioned to me earlier, Father, and we want to pray for them as they're going through surgery, Lord. And we pray Lord that you would just bless the surgeons with the skill that they need to help the person needing surgery here today, Lord. Father, we want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Father, and that they would care for these folks, Lord, like they were caring for themselves, Father. We want them to care for these folks like you care for them, Lord. We know that you love each and every person that's here today, Father. And we pray, Lord, that you just draw the unsaved to the cross, Father. We just thank you so much for all that you do, Lord, for all you do is good, Lord. And we pray, Lord, that your perfect will be done in each and every one of our lives here today, Lord. We thank you and we love you so much, Father. In Jesus' name we pray today, Lord, amen.
