Episode Transcript
Good morning everybody.
No, afternoon, I'm sorry.
Afternoon, good afternoon.
It's afternoon, yeah.
I tell you what, we keep adding people in here, we might get a better room, ain't we?
I know.
Praise God.
Amen on that one.
All right.
Let me share the verses with our
internet audience here.
Come on in,
Camilla says she says that's good.
There's our verses, folks, accompanying verses
to go with
our book of Jude
there.
Lesson 54, verse 13.
We got it? Nice.
What you got in this class?
I didn't get one.
You sure didn't? Well, let's get you one.
I'm going to get you started here.
54, verse 13.
Yes, well, that's 54.
This is my 54th lesson.
Wow.
That's all I know.
God's blessing you with that.
God bless you.
Mark.
Mark here.
Mark here.
Let's see.
In the book of Mark, that one
would be easy to find, I think.
Matthew, Mark, who?
Adam and John.
That's right.
We're going to Mark first, though.
Right.
Mark what? Mark 7.
It should be on your paperwork there.
I wasn't looking.
That's okay.
439
and Mark
720
to 23.
Just bear with me there
a few minutes, folks, and we'll be
getting going here.
I want everybody's eyes to be on
God's Word, and this just helps
them to find it.
There's the one for Philippians.
We've got to go back one more chapter
or one more book for Ephesians.
Philippians
Ephesians
and then Colossians.
2, 1,
1, 2, 5,
All right.
Good, good, good.
Yes, ma'am, you're welcome.
Did Donald
do good through the surgery?
He do good through it?
Good, good, good.
I talked to him the other night, and he said,
"I'm not doing good, Charlie."
Oh, no.
Oh, that's just him.
If I heard it from
a doctor or nurse, I'd
blame him.
He might have been just a little sore or something.
That's right, yeah, sore
and pain.
All right. What a blessing.
Good to see everybody.
Glad to see these people coming in.
Oh, man, it's just, what a blessing.
Good to see you, Miss Priscilla.
All right.
All right, so we left off in
the book of Jude last time we were here.
Now, I don't get to
label or title
my messages very often,
but this is something our pastor does at church.
When God blesses me with it,
I like to use it. So we're going to
title this message "White Caps
of Shame."
"White Caps of Shame."
Okay, so that's going to be the title of this message.
And we left off
in verse 13
in the book of Jude last week
where Jude says,
"Raging waves
of the sea
foaming out their own
shame. Wandering
stars, to whom
is reserved the blackness
of darkness forever."
Now, Jude has been
comparing the ungodly
to things of nature.
Now, we can't see
everything in nature, but
sometimes we can. And things
that we can see with our own eyes,
if we would just take
the time to observe, we need to
check them out.
Things that the Lord our God has
created himself.
And I cringe
every time I hear someone
say, "Mother nature this,"
or, "Mother nature that."
Now, I'm going to get on my soapbox
here for just a little bit, and I'll
get off of it, I promise. It is
the Lord God
who created the heavens
and the earth and all
things that lie within.
The words, "Mother nature,"
is something the devil
came up with to
try and take glory
away from our Creator.
And every time
someone uses those words
to speak of God's
magnificent creation,
they are doing the same.
They are giving Mother
Nature the credit instead
of the Lord God Almighty.
Here we go.
Thank you.
You're welcome, Matthew.
Come on in.
Colossians 1:16
says, "For by
Him
were all things created
that are in heaven
and that are in
earth, visible and
invisible, whether
they be thrones or dominions
or principalities or
powers, all things
were created by Him and
for Him."
Verse 117, "And
He is before all things,
and by Him
all things consist."
It is our
God, folks, not
Mother Nature who created
and is in full control
of nature. Don't believe
the lies of the devil.
We know that the Lord is
in control of nature
from several different
verses.
But we will use the verse
that we used last
week in Mark 4
39 which says, "And
He arose," talking about Jesus,
"And He arose and
rebuked the wind
and said unto the sea,
Peace, be
calm. And the wind ceased
and there was a great
calm." The word
"rebuke" used here
means to forbid.
Can you go outside
and rebuke the wind?
Can you forbid it
to blow? Neither
can Mother Nature.
Only our God can
do that. The word
"peace" means silence
or hush. It can also
mean involuntary
stillness.
None of us here can make the
seas calm, and neither
can Mother Nature.
Only God can
calm the seas.
The words "be still"
used here means
to muzzle. Now,
you might be able to muzzle a dog
or some other type of animal,
but only the Lord
can muzzle
the seas, folks.
So, we see
right here that the Lord is
in control of nature
and not some made-up
lie of the world.
You can either believe the truth
of God, or you can
believe the lies of the world.
When you start believing
the truth of God, the
lies of the world start
to become more obvious.
But the ungodly
still want to spew out lies.
And, Jews says in verse
13 that they are
raging waves of the
sea, foaming
out
their shame, their own shame.
Now, last week, we
talked about the word "raging,"
which is used here to mean
wild.
The ungodly are without
control.
Last week, I used our lake here
to help us visualize a wave.
Now, that
wave goes where the wind
drives it.
It has no control over itself.
It is
wild.
I can use myself
for an example, for this example
as well. And maybe some of you
here today, or some of you watching
through the internet, can think back
to when you
were a raging wave,
going where the wind
blew you.
I was driven by the lusts of this
world, going wherever and
doing whatever I wanted to,
not worrying
about anybody else or
the harm that I might do.
I was dead
in trespasses and sins,
but
God, through His
grace, showed me
forgiveness.
Ephesians 2:1
And we got everybody marked.
Ephesians 2-1
Ephesians 2-1. You got it, Don.
You got it, Don.
Ephesians 2-1
You got it, Thomas.
Everybody got it.
Everybody's got it.
Look at you.
Good, good.
He's got it right.
You know, we can find it
somewhere.
You got these little deals here, they help.
That's sweet.
Right here.
Ephesians 2-1
Wait a minute.
There's a snake.
A little more.
A snake.
Ephesians 2-1
Oh, you've already got it marked.
You didn't even know we were
going there, you already had it marked.
Alright, Ephesians 2-1
And you
have he
quickened, who were
dead in trespasses
and sins.
Wherein in time past
ye walked according
to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the
power of the air, the
spirit that now worketh in
the children of disobedience.
Folks, I was a child of
disobedience.
We are born into this world
as children of disobedience.
Ephesians 2-3
Among whom
also we all had
our conversation
that word means how we
behave or how we lived
in times
past in the lusts
of our flesh, fulfilling
the desires of the flesh
and of the mind
and were by nature
here's our word nature
the children
of wrath, even
as others.
The children of wrath, that
means desire or
excitement of the mind.
I used to let the desire
of my mind take
advantage of
my body. I will let the desire
of my mind guide
what I did.
Folks, I want to tell you, you put your
faith in Christ as your savior,
that all changes.
That all changes.
The desires of your mind will change.
He says in verse 4, Ephesians
2-4, but God
who is
rich in mercy for
his great love
wherewith he loved us
even when we were
dead in sins.
God, if you don't know Christ
as your savior, folks, God
still loves you.
He will love you
and he will not stop
loving you. I've heard it said
if you end up in hell you had to
stumble over the cross. You had
to stumble over God's love
to get there. God
loves you, regardless
if you know Christ or not as your
savior. You are God's
creation.
God loves
his creation. God
is not going to create
something that he doesn't
love.
In the beginning
the devil, God
created the devil,
but he was not
called the devil when he was first
created. He was
created as
Lucifer. He was a
light bearer. God
created him to be a
light bearer,
but he fell from that.
He fell from
that.
But God, who is
rich in mercy for his great love
wherewith he loved us,
even when we were dead in
sins, hath quickened
us together with
Christ. That means joined
us together with Christ.
By grace
ye are saved.
He that
believeth on him is not
condemned, but he that
believeth not is condemned already
because he hath not
believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.
For by grace are you
saved through faith, and that
not of yourselves.
Not of works.
It is the gift of God,
lest any man should boast.
Now that's not on our paperwork.
I'm sorry about that.
We're going here.
The ungodly are just
like that raging wave
of the sea.
Does that wave care if it
capsizes a boat and
people get hurt? No.
No, that wave don't care.
Here in Cedar
Creek Lake, when we have
high winds and the waves
get to whooping up and crashing into boat
docks and tearing them up, do the
waves care that they tore up
a $60,000 boat dock?
No, the waves don't
care, do they?
When the ungodly
are lying about God
and telling you
things that are not true, they
are just like those raging
waves that don't care
that they are causing destruction
and they don't care about
the cost.
Jude says back in our verse
that they are foaming out
their shame, their own shame.
They are foaming out their
own shame. The words
foaming out
gives us the idea of
to foam upon
or to exhibit a
vile passion.
The word vile
has several definitions
but for time's sake
we will use the definition of
morally base or
impure, sinful.
There were many,
many definitions for the word
passion and likewise
for the time's sake we will have
to narrow it down to
the state of being affected
by an external
agent or an influence.
Once again
I want to use a Cedar Creek
wave
for a visual.
When the wind gets to
whooping up on the lake and the waves
start forming,
what happens to that wave
when it gets to rolling really fast?
It's buried on it.
The top of that wave
changes color, doesn't it?
I see some heads nodding.
It changes to a
white color that we call
white caps.
White caps.
Now I looked up the definition of a
white cap
and this is what it said.
A white cap,
also known as a white
horse, which I found that interesting.
The book of Revelation talks
about a white horse. Now I don't know if they,
I didn't go into that study but I just found that
kind of interesting. A white cap
also known as a white horse
is a wave
with a broken
and foaming white
crest formed
when strong winds
cause the crest of waves
to break into a mixture
of air, spray
and foam.
The white caps come from
the inside of that wave
and form on
the top of the wave
so that we can visually
see them.
The wind
is the source of the
wave that
has the white cap
stored inside.
The wind is the catalyst,
no I'm sorry,
the uh, I wrote that
yeah, the wind is the source of the wave that has the
white cap stored. The wind is the catalyst
for the white cap.
Without the wind
you're not going to have
raging waves.
The water is not going to, the wave
is not going to be high. You ever go by
a lake and see it's real nice and calm?
When you do, the wind's not whooping, is it?
When the wind's whooping, you're getting waves.
The harder that wind whoops,
the bigger the waves get.
The wind is the catalyst for the white cap.
The world
in its present state
controlled by the
prince of the power of the air
is the catalyst
for the ungodly.
The ungodly seek
the things of this world
and that vision will fade away
someday
because the things
of this world
are going away someday.
They want to point you to
things that will benefit themselves
because that
is what is on the inside.
Mark
720, and we've got that
one marked. Ha! We've got Mark
Martin.
Sound like a
puppy dog going, "Mark, Mark!"
Ha, ha, ha!
Mark, Mark, Mark!
Mark, Mark, Mark!
Mark, Mark, Mark!
Mark, Mark, Mark!
You got it?
Mark, Mark, Mark!
Mark, Mark, Mark!
Everybody good?
Matthew, Mark?
Matthew, Mark?
Matthew, Mark?
Matthew, Mark?
Matthew, Mark?
Matthew, Mark?
Who is that sitting next to you?
The old boy?
The real nice guy.
The real nice guy.
The real nice guy.
Alright, Mark.
Mark 720.
Now remember,
we're talking about that wave
rising up and getting a
white cap on top of it.
That white cap has come
from the inside of that wave.
Y'all following me?
White cap comes from inside
that wave. That wave
has everything it needs to have a white cap
on top. Just the wind
comes and it's the catalyst for the wave
to rise up and what's inside
that wave comes out of it.
You got air that comes out of that wave
and you've got foam
that comes out of the top.
And somehow, what was that other
part of it?
[humming]
What?
I can't hear that.
Water. Air, spray, and foam.
And you got the water. That's right.
And you got the water.
Okay, Mark 720
says, this is Jesus talking,
and he said,
"That which cometh out
of the man
that defiles the man.
For from within
out of the
heart of men
proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications,
murders,
thefts, covetousness,
wickedness, deceit,
lasciviousness, and evil
blasphemy, pride,
and foolishness.
All these evil things
come from within and defile
the man."
That stuff rose out of that wave.
The stuff rises out of the ungodly.
Jeremiah 17
9, this is
just extra bonus here for you.
"The heart is deceitful above
all things, and desperately
wicked. Who can know it?"
God knows the heart.
God knows your heart, folks.
Only God knows
the heart. Just like
that white cat coming out of that
wave, these things come out
of the ungodly. And Jude
says they are foaming
out their own shame.
When we are judged,
those that have not chosen
Christ as their Savior will be
kneeling in shame
before the Lord.
Used here the definition for the word
shame is dishonesty.
The ungodly
run from the truth.
They would rather live a life
of shame or dishonesty
than to believe the truth.
Adam and Eve
believed a lie of the ungodly
and it cost.
They no
longer got to walk with the Lord in the
Garden of Eden. They were separated
from the Lord.
The ungodly will die
and be separated from the Lord
for eternity without repentance,
folks. Without
repentance, the ungodly
will die and be separated from
the Lord for eternity.
While the ungodly are still
living, there is still
time. But
after that last breath is drawn,
it will be too late.
Let's close today
with Philippians chapter 3,
and we're going to read verses 17 through 21.
Mark you, Philippians.
Yeah, there it is.
Philippians chapter 3.
We're going to read 17.
Here we go.
We're going to read 17.
Right here where it says
"Breath." Got it, Thomas?
Everybody good? You got it, Miss Mary?
All right.
"Be ye followers together
of me,
and mark them
which walk so as ye have
us for an example.
For many walk
of whom I have told
you often, and now
tell you even weeping,
that they are the enemies
of the cross of
Christ." The ungodly
are the
enemies of the cross
of Christ. They don't believe
that Jesus Christ died on the cross
for their sins. They don't
believe that Jesus Christ
was buried in a tomb and rose
on the third day, folks.
They are the enemies of the cross.
He says that they
are the enemies of the cross of
Christ, whose end
is destruction,
whose God is their
belly, and whose glory
is in their shame,
who mind
earthly things.
These ungodly
were here, I ain't hanging out
with the Jews' brethren.
They were
there for the food.
They were there
for the
money if they could get it.
They were there to use the brethren.
It's all they were there for.
The ungodly
are not there to learn
of Christ.
They're there for their own selfish
purposes.
Now, we are all
ungodly before we put our faith in
Christ.
I want to tell you, God knows who
will, and God knows who's
not going to accept Christ as
his Savior.
The fact that you're all here today
wanting to hear God's Word,
that's a good sign, folks.
That means you're seeking
if you don't know Christ.
The Bible says, "Seek ye first the kingdom
of God and His righteousness."
First. That's what
you should do. That's what I did.
I went and sought.
God is a belly
and whose glory is in their shame,
who mind earthly things.
For our conversation,
our life,
is in heaven.
Ha ha! Is in heaven.
From whence also
we look for the Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ.
I'm going to say that again.
From whence also we look for the
Savior,
the Lord Jesus
Christ.
Philippians 3:21
says, "Who shall
change our vile
body, that
it may be fashioned like
unto His glorious body,
according to the working
whereby He is able even to
subdue all things unto Himself."
That's not Mother Nature,
is it? No!
That's our Savior right there, folks.
That's our God.
Right.
God is able to
subdue all things
unto Himself. All things were
made by God for God.
So, folks,
I just pray you know Jesus
as your Savior. If you
don't know Christ as your Savior,
and you want to know Christ
as your Savior,
I'd be more than glad to sit
down with you, and we'll talk
about this right here. We'll open
up God's Word for you,
and we'll let God show you.
That's how I, that's what
taught me was God's Word is what
opened my eyes to Christ.
Only God can open your eyes to Christ.
Only God can draw you
to the cross.
But only you
can deny that draw.
If God's
drawing you to the cross, folks, and you want
to know Jesus as your Savior,
don't keep putting God off.
Don't keep putting
Him off. That's the
best advice I could give you.
Heavenly Father,
we thank You so much, Lord,
for all that You do, Father.
For all You do is good, Lord.
We thank You so much for
those who come today, Lord, to hear Your
wonderful, wonderful
Word, Lord. Thank You
for Your Word, Father. We pray
that the saints were edified here
today, Lord, and that the lost were
appointed to You, Lord.
We pray for one here, Lord, that doesn't
know Christ as their Savior, that
You would draw them to the cross, Father.
For no man cometh
unto Christ unless the Father
draw him, Lord.
Father, we just thank You
so much for Jesus.
We thank You that He died for our sins.
Thank You so
much, Lord, for all that You do, Lord.
We want to pray for Don's
recovery, Lord. We pray
for his healing through the surgery, Lord.
Just pray that You just give him a
rolling again, Lord, according to Your will.
We pray for anyone
here today, Lord, that his upcoming
surgeries, Lord, that You would just be with
them as they're having the surgery,
Lord, and help them to recover according
to Your will. And we're
so thankful, Lord, for the people
that come to hear Your Word, Lord. Thank You
for another lesson that You blessed us with
to share. And I pray, Lord, that
we all learn something here today, Father.
We want to pray for the caregivers
that are here, Lord, that they care for these
folks, Lord, as if they were caring for
themselves, Father. Just be
with each and every one of them, Lord. Let them
know that they're not alone, Father.
We thank You and we love You
so much, Lord. And in Jesus'
name we pray, Lord. Amen.
Amen.
