- All right, well I'm so glad to see everybody survived that outbreak they said. So if y'all was wondering where your pastor was, they told me not to come. - No, you didn't want me. - No ma'am, that's wrong. You know I want to come. Like I was telling this lady earlier, this is the favorite part of my whole week, is getting to come here and have church with y'all. I love it. And it's a blessing to see each and every one of you and I'm so blessed that you come to hear God's word. - Yeah. - All right, so I'm glad everybody survived that and we've been going verse by verse in the book of Jude. And it's been a couple of weeks and y'all might not recall some of that. Jude has been warning us about allowing the ungodly to be an influence upon us by remaining among us. Years ago, there was an oil tanker that had a bad leak. I believe it was the Juan Valdez or something like that. I can't remember the name of it. I can't remember if it ran aground or it hit a rock or what happened. But I do remember it leaked out a lot of oil and it caused a major catastrophe. The news was showing all of this oil just gushing out of this massive oil tanker and the oil was just gushing right into the ocean. That sticky, thick, messy oil got all over the aquatic wildlife in that area, killing a massive amount of them. The news showed all kinds of fish and birds just washed up on the shore dead. The ungodly are like that sticky oil. If those aquatic animals had not been around that oil, they would have been just fine. The news showed a bunch of animals being saved too. There is a dish soap that has its claim to fame, so to speak, because they use this dish soap to wash the animals and rid them of that nasty oil they were covered in, thus saving their lives. When we put our faith in Christ as our Savior, we are washed clean of sin. Not by some dish soap, but by the shed blood of Christ. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your word. We thank you, Lord, for pointing us to what to do and what not to do, Lord. And we thank you so much for Jesus, Father. And we just thank you for those who have came today, Lord, to hear your word taught, Lord. And I pray, Lord, that they know that I love each and every one of them. And it's such a blessing, Lord, to be here today with them, Lord. And we just pray, Lord, your word goes forth here, Father. And we pray, Lord, that you'll teach them, Lord. Open their eyes to Christ, Father. Open their minds to your word, Lord, and help them to understand it, Father. For we know I cannot teach, Lord, but you can, Father. Just use me to teach your word, Lord. And we thank you for your word, and we thank you for each one that's come, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, amen. - Amen. - Amen. - So 1 John 1-5 says, "This then is the message which we have heard of him "and declare unto you, that God is light, "and in him is no darkness at all. "If we say that we have fellowship with him "and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth. "But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, "we have fellowship one with another, "and the blood of Jesus Christ his son "cleanses us from all sin." The ungodly walk in darkness, and if you continue to walk with the ungodly, they will lead you right back to the darkness and drown you just like that sticky oil did those animals. I know about darkness because I ran around in it for over half of my life, slinging sticky oil all over others, and that is a regret that I have to live with. Now all I want to do is tell others that there is a way out of darkness, and that is through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. I have been washed by the blood of Christ, cleansing me from my sins, and now I walk in the light, and I do not want to go back to the dark. Praise God. - Amen. - Second Corinthians, now we're just doing a little backtracking here before we follow up in our verse here. Second Corinthians 6.14 says, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, "for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness, "and what communion hath light with darkness? "And what concord hath Christ with Belial, "or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? "And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? "For ye are the temple of the living God. "As God has said, I will dwell in them and walk in them, "and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. "The ungodly do not know God." That's why they are called the ungodly. Second Corinthians 6.17 as we continue on in Second Corinthians there, "Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate." "Saith the Lord." That's not Brother Doug telling you that, that is the Lord telling you to be separate from the ungodly. "And touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you." God will receive you, folks. "And will be a father unto you, "and ye shall be my sons and daughters, "saith the Lord Almighty." - Amen. - Folks, I have lived in darkness, and praise God, I have been blessed to live in the light. And I can tell you for a fact that I enjoy living in the light a lot more. No hangovers living in the light, folks, none. I haven't had a hangover yet since I quit living in darkness. Praise God. Jude has been telling us what is going to happen to the ungodly, and blessing us with Scripture to back up what he is telling us. Now we left off at verse 12 in the book of Jude, where Jude says, now we're in the book of Jude at verse 12. "These are spots in your feasts of charity "when they feast with you, "feeding themselves without fear, "clouds they are without water, "carried about of winds, "trees whose fruit withereth without fruit, "twice dead, plucked up by the roots." Now we left off where Jude says, "Clouds they are without water, "when a dry and thirsty land "is craving a good drink of refreshing water, "and it looks up and sees some dark, rainy clouds, "it gets ready, "anticipating a good drink from those clouds. "But when the clouds arrive and produce no water "for the land, the land remains thirsty still. "These ungodly men could not deliver "what the godly craved, "and that was to hear about God." How can you tell others about the light when you walk in darkness? - Amen. - That's right. - I found when I walked in darkness, I had no desire to talk about God. And if someone did, I found myself wanting to leave. Why? Because my deeds were evil. But when God opened my eyes to the truth, he changed my life and brought me out of the darkness into the light. John 3, 19. And I believe I might have y'all marked on this one. Yes, I do. John 3, 19. We're gonna start right there, John 3, 19. - Amen. - All right. - John 3, 19. Woo-hoo, right somewhere in there. There we go, 19. You got that? Dawn's getting there. John. Say John 3, 19. Right there. And this is a condemnation. You find it, ma'am? Here, guys, that's the first John. We're gonna go all the way back here to John. And we're gonna go to John 3, 19. 3, 19, right here. - Thank you. - You're welcome, ma'am. You got it, Bill? - You got it. - Okay. All right. Now, I said, but when God opened my eyes to the truth, he changed my life and brought me out of the darkness into the light. John 3, 19 says, and this is the condemnation, that light is coming to the world, and men love darkness rather than the light. Why? Because their deeds were evil. Folks, that was me. That was me. My deeds were evil. And he says in 3, 20, for everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. That word reproved means admonished or to tell a fault. I did not wanna come to the light and hear that I was a sinner. I did not wanna hear that I messed up all them times. I didn't wanna hear it. I'm living my life. I'm doing my thing. Everything's just rolling on, hunky-dory, peachy, whoop-de-doo. Everything's just rolling right along fine. But it wasn't. It wasn't rolling along fine. John 3, 21 says, but he that doeth, those three words together, he that doeth means agree, agree. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. That word manifest means render apparent or to make known. When God drew me to the light and I finally put my pride in the dirt and I knew, Lord, I knew I needed help, I was a sinner, my deeds were evil, I wanted forgiveness, I was tired of living like that. When I finally felt God calling me and I heeded that call and I came to the light and God opened my eyes and showed me that I was a sinner and the only one that could save me was him. God is the only one that can save us, folks. We cannot save ourselves. When the children of Egypt, when they were stuck in Egypt, they couldn't get out. They could not save themselves. God sent a savior. God sent Moses to get them out of there. God worked through Moses to rescue them from Egypt, set them free from bondage. God uses Jesus Christ to set us free from the bondage of sin. I was saved through the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God opened my eyes to Christ and I don't wanna go back to that old darkness for nothing. No man, John 6:44 says, "No man can come to me," this is Jesus talking, "except the Father which hath sent me draw him "and I will raise him up at the last day." Folks, I've had some of you talking to me, you're more inquisitive about God's Word, you're wanting to learn more. Folks, what is that? That's God drawing you to the cross. That's God pulling you to his Word and I promise you, if you wanna know Jesus Christ as your savior, God will show you. He will show you Jesus Christ. You just keep asking. You just keep wanting to know. Don't give up. Don't faint, knock, the Bible says. You keep asking, keep seeking. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and he will open your eyes, I promise you. It'll change your life. There is no peace like knowing where you're going when you're done with this old body. Knowing that you're gonna be with the Lord when it's all over with. Man, there's no peace like that. There's no joy like salvation joy and I'll save that, I'll keep saying that 'til the day I die and go be with the Lord and I'll be saying it then too. Woo! No joy like salvation joy. I lay my head down at night knowing if I don't wake up, it's all okay because I'm gonna be with the Lord. And you can know that too for a fact. Anybody can. Jesus Christ died for all of us. He died for the world's sins. Not only just my sins, not only just your sins, but the whole world's sins. Jesus Christ died for all, folks. And when you come to realize that, when God shows you, woo, man, it just changes you. Change me and it'll change you too. John 6:45 says, "It is written in the prophets, "and they shall be all taught of God. "Every man therefore that hath heard "and hath learned of the Father cometh unto me." Folks, you just keep coming and hearing God's word. You keep opening your Bibles and you keep reading God's word. You tell God you wanna know and he'll show you. Only God can draw you to the cross and only God can open your eyes. But you must be willing to hear and to learn. Otherwise, you will be what Jude says here back in verse 12, "Carried about of winds." Now, how many of you know that the winds are going to blow? Winds are gonna blow, ain't they? You can't stop 'em. Winds are gonna blow. These two words, carried about, means to convey around. Transport hither and thither. Did you know hither and thither was a word? I didn't until I saw it here. I thought that was always just something somebody said, but it's an actual word. Transport hither and thither. These ungodly men that Jude has been telling us about are without water. They are clouds without water. When the winds get to blowing them, they have nothing filling them to keep them stationary. They can't stay in one place and unload the rain because they have none to unload. Therefore, they just get blown away. After I'd written this and put it together, God showed me something in my mind. The chaff is gonna get blown away. I thought that, I wish I'd have had time to look that up and get that verse, but the chaff will get blown away. It's gonna be gone, just like these ungodly people with no rain. The godly, on the other hand, are steadfast, filled with refreshing knowledge of the Lord. And we're gonna close here in 2 Corinthians 4.2. 2 Corinthians 4.2. That's the next part you got part, Becky, sir. Yeah, there you go, sir, Don. You got it, sir. Chapter four. We're gonna start off at seven. 2 Corinthians. I like these, these are nice. - I'd say that's easier than the other one. - 2 Corinthians chapter four. And we're gonna start right here at verse seven. - Thank you. - You're welcome, man. Now this is something that the ungodly don't have. This is what the godly have. 2 Corinthians chapter four, verse seven. This is what the ungodly have. I mean, this is what the godly have, folks. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us. You put your faith in Jesus Christ. - Amen. - Jesus Christ. God sends his Spirit. You agree with God? Lord, I agree with you, Father. I'm a sinner. I've got to have some forgiveness, Father, 'cause I can't forgive myself. God says, "Ah, my child agrees with me. "He's been the prodigal son all this time. "He's been gone out, but now he's come back "and he agrees with me." Woo, that's my child. God sends his Spirit to live with your Spirit. We have this treasure in earthen vessels. That is God's Spirit. That the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us. It's God's Spirit living with our spirit, teaching us, showing us, guiding us, correcting us when we're wrong, and I get a lot of it. Now, Doug, you shouldn't have done that. Doug, you shouldn't have said that. You need to apologize for that. I had to apologize to my mama earlier. Nah, it wasn't nothing bad. Now, don't y'all be thinking I didn't do nothing bad. I just said something I wish I wouldn't have said. My mama said, "I don't know what you're talking about." But that happens. I'll say something, I'll regret I said that, and I'll apologize for it, and then they'll say, "I don't know what you're talking about. "That didn't bother me a bit, but it bothered me." So this Holy Spirit helps us. The Holy Spirit helps us. He guides us. He teaches us. Folks, I couldn't, this ain't Brother Doug. I can't do all this. God helps me write this down. When I get ready to write down a lesson, I'll pray to the Lord. I can't teach these people, Father. You've got to teach through the Lord, 'cause I don't know how to do all this, and then all of a sudden, I'll get into a verse. I'll start looking up words. Next thing you know, we got a lesson, and it's all God. God shows me this, and I pray that I don't want to say nothing wrong, but I get to rattling sometimes, and I'll be apologizing again. So anyway, let's get on back to God's Word here. 2 Corinthians 4, it says, "We are troubled on every side, "yet not distressed. "We are perplexed, but not in despair." No matter what comes at you, folks, when those winds get to blowing on you, don't be in despair. Things are gonna go wrong. It's just a fact of life. But not in despair. Why? Because we have a helper. We have the Holy Spirit helping us. Persecuted, but not forsaken. No matter what happens, you are not forsaken. God said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." Woo, I take comfort in that, and believe me, things go wrong a lot in this old life. What I can, well, Lord, I guess that was part of the plan there. Nothing happens to God that He don't know about. Nothing happens to you or I that God doesn't know about. God already knows. So when things are a little sidestep in my life, it's part of God's plan. God knew that that was gonna go wrong. It didn't surprise Him. Now, it might surprise me, and it might surprise you, but God's got it covered, though. We just take solace knowing God's got it. "I'll never leave you, nor forsake you." Persecuted, but not forsaken. Cast down, but not destroyed. Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus. That the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body, for which we live, are all the way delivered unto death for Jesus' sake. That the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken. We also believe, and therefore speak. Before I put my faith in Christ, you wouldn't have caught me talking to anybody about God. And now, as you can see, it's hard to shut me up. (laughs) I love talking about God. I'll talk about God all day long with anybody who wants to listen. I love God, Christ. I'm telling you, if you don't know Jesus as your Savior, folks, please keep seeking the Lord. Seek the Lord, find Christ, God will show you. I promise, and it will change your outlook on everything. Last verse, and then we'll close. Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus and shall present us with you. The ungodly do not have that hope, folks. They do not have the hope of knowing that when they pass away, that when they shed this old flesh from the body, they don't have the hope of knowing that they're gonna be with the Lord. They don't have the hope of knowing that God's gonna raise them up to come and be with him and live with him for eternity. We were talking about that a while ago, to be acid from the body is to be present with the Lord. That's it, Fisher, faith is in Christ. The flip side to that coin, if you don't know Christ as your Savior, you do not have that hope. You're going to go live with the devil and his angels in a place of torment for eternity. And I hate to end on a sad note like that, but it's the truth. I went to a funeral Friday and the lady that passed away, I knew her, but I didn't know her no more. And they asked me to do her funeral, and I did because they asked me. What I told those people was about Jesus. I told them about Jesus. And what was all over with, there was a man that was there, and we was in the facility back there, getting ready to go to the graveside, and he told me, he said, "Brother Doug, "I am so thankful. "Thank you so much that you stood up there "and you told them people about Jesus." And I said, "Praise God!" I told him, I said, "What kind of preacher would I be "if I didn't tell people about Jesus?" I would let God down, and I would let you down. Put your faith in Jesus Christ, folks. You'll live for eternity with the good Lord. You don't put your faith in Jesus Christ, you will die and be separated from God for eternity. With that, we'll close with prayer. We're gonna have one more song on the way out, I believe the song leader's got us one to go out, so let's pray before we go. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your word, Lord, and we thank you, Lord, so much for the attentiveness of the people that come to hear your word, Lord, and I pray, Lord, that they will talk here today, Father. I pray that your word went forth, Lord. I pray that they learn, Lord, that the saints were edified, Lord, and that the lost were appointed to you, Lord. Lord, only you can teach, Father, and I pray that they wanna learn, Lord. I pray that they'll seek your face, Father, and we thank you and we love you so much, and we thank you, Lord, so much for helping these people stay well and getting them through the sickness that went through here, Lord, and we sure thank you, Lord. Thank you for the caregivers here that help the people that are here, Lord, and we pray for the ones that still might be sick, Father. We pray that your will be done in their healing, and we pray that your perfect will is done in each and every one of our lives here today, Father. What a blessing it is, Lord, and what a joy it is to come here, Lord. We thank you so much for Jesus, and we ask this in his name today, Lord, amen. - Amen.
