Alright, good afternoon everybody.
Okay.
Alright.
Good to see everybody.
Good, good.
Alright, so we have been going verse by verse through the book of Jude Now last week we left off in verse 20 in the book of Jude discussing the importance of having a most holy faith. which is the foundation on which you choose to stand on comes your day of judgment.
That's why we want, it's so important.
So important to have a firm foundation, folks.
Ecclesiastes 12. 14 says, for God shall bring every work into judgment. with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.
When this time comes, folks, make sure your most holy faith is choosing to stand on the foundation that God gave you to stand on.
And that's the belief in his dear son's death for you on the cross.
So let's go back now and read verse 20 in Jude, and we're going to pick up our study where we left off last week.
So in verse 20 of Jude, Jude says, but ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying.
In the Holy Ghost, let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person, Father, that's come here today to hear your word, Lord.
We pray, Lord, that you would just teach us here today.
Just teach us, Father.
We pray that all distractions would be removed, Father, and that you're just glorified here today.
We thank you so much, Father.
Thank you for Jesus.
And in his name, we would pray.
Amen.
All right.
Jude says, praying in the Holy Ghost.
The word praying in the Greek is Y'all know my Greek now.
The word praying in the Greek is prosukamai.
Prosukami.
If I did not mess that up too badly.
And used here, it means to pray to God.
That is supplicated.
The verse sees something about it.
This is a image of the mother valuable.
Used here it means to pray to God, that is supplicate, which means to petition with earnestness. and submission and it's derived from two other Greek words.
One is prose Which gives us the idea of a preposition of direction toward or forward to.
Jesus said in Matthew 11, 28.
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Come unto me.
That gives us the idea of direction.
Where unto Jesus?
Jesus says, come unto me.
That is the direction.
The other Greek word that the word praying comes from is eukomae.
And it means wish.
James 5, 16 says, confess your faults one to another and pray one for another.
That ye may be healed.
The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
He says, Pray one for another.
Wish.
Or make your will known to God.
I wonder how many people would be healed if we would come to God and wish for it.
Or how many people would come to Christ if we would just come to God and reveal our will to Him that that person would be drawn to the cross?
How many people I don't know who said this, but there are some very profound words.
You won't know unless you ask.
You won't know unless you ask.
Do you talk with God, folks?
Do you talk with God?
What is prayer?
Talking with God.
Talk with God.
God wants to hear from you.
God wants to hear from you, dear friend.
Please do not be scared to talk with our Creator.
He already knows you.
And if you do not know him, it's nobody's fault but yours.
And you need to change that.
Do not be scared to come to your heavenly Father with your wishes.
Just be prepared if he says no and don't get mad.
Jesus shows us that it is okay to ask, but he also shows us not to get mad about the answer as well.
We see this when Jesus went to the Mount of Olives to pray.
In Luke 22, 39, it says, and he came out and went, and as he was wont to the Mount of Olives.
And his disciples also followed him.
And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
The word temptation gives us the idea of putting to proof by experiment.
Good or evil experience.
Y'all remember when Peter, when Jesus was going to the cross and they were accusing Peter of knowing him, and Jesus had told him before the cock crew three times, Peter would deny him.
That is temptation.
That is a putting to proof Luke 22, 41, and he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast and kneeled down.
This is Jesus.
They're talking about Jesus and prayed.
This is what Jesus said.
This is showing us that it's okay to ask God the Father.
Let God know about your wishes.
Jesus said when he prayed at the Mount of Olives, he says, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me.
Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done.
Jesus is sharing his wish to the Father here.
Father, if there is some other way, I am asking you for it.
When the Father said no other way, This is what must be done.
Jesus did not get mad at the Father and say, never mind to the whole thing and storm away.
He accepted the answer and went to the cross at Calvary and gave his life for you and me in order that we could be forgiven of our sin debt through faith.
When we pray to God, our Heavenly Father, do you realize that you are acknowledging God?
You are acknowledging God when you pray to Him.
You must first believe that he is.
That he is one of the reasons why it's so important to have that solid foundation through faith we have been discussing.
Hebrews 11, 6 said, but without faith it is impossible to please him.
For he that cometh to God must believe that he is.
And that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
You must believe God is.
Pray to God, folks.
Pray.
Talk with God.
You say, Brother Doug, I've never prayed before.
You talk with your friends.
You talk with other people.
You talk on the phone.
Talk with God.
Talk with God.
When you pray to God, folks, you are acknowledging Him.
You are acknowledging that God is.
You're not simply walking around ignoring Him.
You are agreeing with him that he is, not that he needs us to acknowledge him.
He is the great I am who was and is and shall always be forevermore.
But you yourself personally are admitting that we have a creator, a maker of all things, who is the only one who can answer your hearts Most needed desire, which is to know forgiveness, and that can only come from God's host.
When you start seeking the Lord by acknowledging him, that is God drawing you to him.
Please don't resist.
If you want to know forgiveness, seek, dear friends.
The Bible says Matthew 6. 33, little small letter A.
That's the beginning of the verse.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
Now let's look at something here back in Jude If you look at verse 19, remember we're in verse 20.
If you glance up to verse 19 If you look at verse 19, it says, these be they who separate themselves, sensual Having not the spirit.
This has been talking to us about the uh the people that are unsaved, the uh the people that have been Anyway, it's been talking about the unsaved all this time.
These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the spirit.
Now let's look at verse 20 where Jude says in 120 But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
Do you see the difference here between the ones who choose to separate themselves?
In verse 19 from the beloved in verse 20.
The ones in verse 19 are sensual, having not the spirit.
The word Spirit is with a capital S, meaning God's Holy Spirit, which is the same as the Holy Ghost in verse 20.
The ones in verse 19 have one life to live in a dying world.
And when their life is over. or this world burns up, whichever comes first, they have no hope.
When it's done, it's done, and so is their fun.
They have chosen to separate themselves from God's love and forgiveness.
And when judgment comes, their spirit which refuses to acknowledge God as their creator. will be forever separated from God for eternity.
All their prayers will fall on death ears.
Why?
Because they never knew Christ as their Savior.
Matthew 7, 22 through 23 says, many will say to me in that day, this is Jesus talking.
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
And in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works.
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you.
I never knew you.
Depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
They work iniquity.
Why?
Because they're not. forgiven.
They never knew Jesus as their Savior.
Depart from me.
I never knew you.
But the ones in verse 20, and this puts a smile on my face, the beloved The ones building up themselves on the one and only true faith in the Lord Jesus Christ Praying to God and the Holy Spirit, twice born, through faith in Christ with hope and a future that will continue long after this old sinful world has gone away.
Let's close today with Revelation chapter 21 and we're gonna read verses 1 through 8, folks.
Got y'all mark there You're marked two there.
Revelation.
Revelation, yes, ma'am.
Revelation.
That's your favorite book, and it just works I know it's not.
It should be though.
It could be.
Revelation 21-1.
Revelation 21-1.
There we go.
I think there you there, Miss Becky.
Thank you need one.
Yeah, you're right there.
Okay.
Revelation 21-1, where we're going to start our reading.
This is John.
He says, and I saw a new heaven and a new earth.
Why?
For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away, and there was no more sea.
Folks, that ought to tell you something right there.
This earth is going away.
Why do you want to choose?
To stay on a sinking ship.
It's going away.
And I, John, saw the holy city, not this city now.
Not nothing here now, but the holy city knew Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them.
And they shall be his people.
And God himself shall be with them and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Amen.
And there shall be no more death.
Neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
It's all going away, folks.
All of this is going away.
Woo!
No more sin.
No more sorrow.
No more pain.
No more sitting in these chairs, folks.
None of that.
Wow.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
New.
And he said unto me, write, for these words are true and faithful.
Now you either believe it or you don't believe.
And he said unto me, it is done.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
I will give unto him that is a thirst. of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Do you hear any?
But so-and-so I won't give.
Them I won't give.
They I won't give it to them.
He says, I will give unto him that is a thirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
No stipulations there.
If you are a thirst, Jesus will give it to you for free.
He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolterers and all liars.
Shall have their part in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Jesus said back in verse 21.
5, I make all things new That includes the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars.
But the key is.
Thirst.
Are you thirsty to be made new?
Do you want to be made new?
Jesus said, I will give unto him that is a thirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Yeah.
Freely.
It doesn't cost you nothing.
The key is, do you want it?
Are you thirsty for it?
No excuses about cost, folks.
It costs Jesus plenty.
It doesn't cost you nothing.
That's why it's called grace.
Grace is a gift.
For by grace are you saved through faith.
But the ones, oh, anyone who is a thirst of salvation may have it.
Anyone.
But the ones who refuse will be wishing.
They would have drunk of the fountain of the water of life while they had time.
Amen.
Because where it's burning with fire and brimstone, there's no water of life there.
No water I believe it was Lazarus and the poor beggar man.
When Lazarus died and the beggar man died, the beggar man went to be with Abraham in his bosom.
The beggar man who had the chance, I mean the Lazarus who had the chance all his years to repent. chose not to.
When he was in the flames of hell, he hollered at Abraham across a great gulf span.
And he asked Abraham to send Lazarus to come, or to send the beggar man to come and dip his finger in water and touch his tongue.
Because it was burning so bad.
Who just wanted a taste of the water?
Abraham says, no, we can't do that.
Because there's a great gulf fixed between heaven and hell.
No.
The rich man said, have the beggar man go back and tell my brothers that there is really heaven and hell.
Abraham said no.
They had this right here.
The same thing that we have.
This right here tells us about heaven and hell.
It tells us how to be saved.
Faith through Christ.
If you choose to ignore it, You're not going to be happy with the outcome of the judgment comes folks 2 Corinthians 5. 17 and we'll close.
Therefore, if any man be in Christ.
He is a new creature.
No longer fearful, no longer unbelieving.
No longer abominable or a murderer or a whoremonger or a sorcerer or idolater or a liar.
All things are new.
He is a new creature in Christ.
But you have to go to that fountain of the water of life.
To receive being a new creature.
Old things are passed away.
Behold, all things are become new.
Reborn again through faith in Christ, folks.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for this lesson that you blessed us with to come to share, Father, with the folks that come to hear it, Lord.
Lord, we thank you so much, Lord, for your precious word.
What a blessing, Lord.
Lord, we thank you for Jesus.
We thank you for your Holy Spirit.
And we thank you so much, Lord, for all you do, Father, for all you do is good, Lord.
We want to thank you for Brother Ray, Lord, stepping in for Brother Larry and leading the songs.
Thank you for the camera lady coming, Lord, and working the camera father.
And we want to pray for each and every person that's come here today, Lord.
We pray, Lord, that you'll just bless each and every one of them, Lord.
We just pray, Lord, that you just let them know that you're with them, that they're not alone, Father, and that you do care about them, Lord.
We want to pray for the ones that are lost here, Father, that don't know Christ as their Savior, Father.
And we pray, Lord, that your word would just work here today, Lord, to draw them to the cross, Father.
Draw them to the cross, Lord, and show them Christ, Lord.
I want to pray for those who are too sick here today, Lord, to come to hear your word that want to be here, Lord.
We pray that your will be done in their healing.
Lord, we want to thank you today, Lord, for those you put in our lives to encourage us, Father.
Thank you for encouragement, Lord.
And we pray, Lord, that we can be an encouragement to others as well, Lord.
Just work through us, Lord, to encourage others, Father.
Thank you so much, Lord, for all you do, Lord.
We want to pray for the caregivers as well that are here, Lord, that they would just care for the folks here, Father, the way you want them to be cared for, Lord.
Thank you so much, Lord.
We just love you and thank you.
We ask these things in Jesus' name today, Lord.
Amen.
