Episode Transcript
I tell you what, they're gonna have to give us a bigger room, aren't they, folks?
Maybe that'll be next on the agenda.
We'll we can do that next, maybe.
God willing You know what?
I'm thankful to have this place right here that God has blessed us with.
Yes.
To come together and sharing God's word.
I really am.
Amen.
And uh I can't tell you how much I am so thrilled that the little turmoil episode we had last week has been resolved.
So I am very blessed with that.
So I just I want to try to turn that into a lesson real quick.
The nursing home, this place right here, they have laws that they have to follow.
Now they didn't when we first started they kind of it got overlooked a little bit okay They somehow or another somebody dropped the ball on all that.
So they what they wanted to do, they come to me and they said, hey, we need all this information on you in order to allow you to keep coming back.
Well I told them, I said, look, that's a lot of personal information that I don't believe that you need.
So we came to a compromise time things 'cause a lot of the information that they were want requiring of me was for employees.
I'm not an employee here.
We do not get a salary to come.
We come by the grace of God and I just I want to share God's word with Freely have you been given, freely give.
So that's what you know I don't accept no salary here from these people.
So I didn't believe I needed to do the uh The questions that they were asking me were not relevant to what I believed that I should be giving them.
So we came to a conclusion and we came to a compromise.
And they sat down on their little computer.
They did a background check on me and said, you're fine.
We don't see nothing here that would hinder you from coming and sharing God's word with the people here at the nursing home.
So just uh praise God that that all worked out fine.
Now what I want to try to turn this into a little bit of a lesson The world has rules and laws that they want us to follow.
God is no different.
God has rules that he wants us to follow.
If you don't believe me, go back and read the Ten Commandments.
God has laid down rules for us to follow Now, I satisfied man's rule by coming in, giving them my their law, I give them what they wanted, what they required of me in order for me to continue to come here.
For you to go to heaven, folks, you have to fulfill God's law.
You can't do that Jesus Christ did.
Jesus Christ fulfilled all the requirements that God wants us to meet in order for us to go to heaven.
Jesus Christ satisfied the laws of God.
I satisfied the laws of man by going in there.
Give one of my information.
They typed it in.
Oh, you're good to go now.
You're fine.
You can continue to come here.
Jesus Christ.
Satisfied all the laws that God required in order for you to come to heaven and to stay in heaven.
Now we believe in that through faith in Christ. through Christ fulfilling all those laws for you in your place because you can't.
Christ did.
So, put your faith in Jesus Christ.
The laws of God are satisfied.
And when you stand before God in judgment, the laws have been satisfied.
You're in Christ.
They have been satisfied.
So that's why I wanted to spin that a little bit so we I satisfied man's laws.
Christ satisfied God's laws.
So in Christ, God is satisfied.
So they're satisfied here.
I get to keep continuing coming and share God's word with y'all, and that's just a praise to God.
Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to do that because it would have broken my heart not to be understanding Come back.
So, but we got all that done.
So with that said, good afternoon, everyone.
I'm so glad to be back.
Always glad to see each and every one of you today.
What a blessing.
Oh wow.
Full house today.
That's a blessing.
Last week, we reviewed Our way back to verse 21, where Jude says, now if y'all are not familiar with me, my name is Brother Doug.
We have a few new faces in here.
And we teach verse by verse in God's Word.
We'll take a chapter and we go verse by verse through that chapter.
So we've left off at verse 121 in the book of Jude.
And Jude says Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Heavenly Father, thank you so much, Lord, for Allowing us to come back and share your word, Lord.
We thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with, Lord, to share today.
Thank you for each and every come, thank you for each and every person that's come here today, Lord, to hear your word talk, Lord.
And we pray, Lord, that you'll just teach through, Lord.
Share your word here, Lord.
Let your Holy Spirit teach us, Father.
And we pray that each and every ear that's here today, Lord, will be attentive.
And they will learn today, Lord.
We pray that the saints are edified today, Lord.
And we pray that the lost are pointed to you, Father.
Thank you, Lord, for all you do, Lord.
And we sure thank you for your precious Word Lord.
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
Alright, so Jude says, keep yourselves in the love of God.
And how are you going to do that?
By looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
The words looking for Used here gives us the idea of waiting with confidence or patience.
Now my wife and my grandbaby, they share joint custody in a cat that I get to feed and water.
At our home, this cat has her own table with her own bowl of groceries and her own bowl of water juice, and beside her bowls is where she gets her little treats that my wife decided that she needs.
Now this cat is very smart.
She has figured out that she can get her, she can get treats every time my wife and I leave for work or come home from work.
And she has figured out that we will pick her up and put her on her table in order to eat her treats.
This cat will come to the table and wait with confidence and as much patience as a cat has. for us to pick her up and put her on her table so she can get her treats.
She is looking for either my wife or myself to pick her up so she can go and get her reward, which in her case are her yummy little treats.
Now in our case, Jude says we should be looking for or waiting with confidence or patience The mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Yes.
My wife's cat might not agree with me But the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life is way better than any cat tree.
Those cat treats will eventually run out.
My wife and I will someday no longer be able to pick that cat up and put her on that old table which will be gone someday as well.
What that cat is looking for is the same thing that some people look for today.
Temporary things.
Things that will be going away.
If you have put your faith in what Christ has done for you, then your reward is not temporary.
Your reward is eternal life.
And that is what you should be looking for, Christian.
Exactly.
The word mercy used here is translated from the Greek word ellios.
Which means compassion.
And brother, I hope my Greek is a little better than my Hebrew The word mercy used here is translated from the Greek word Elios, which means compassion.
My old Webster's dictionary says that compassion means a suffering with another.
Hence sympathy.
A sensation of sorrow excited by the distress or misfortunes of another.
Pity.
God had mercy on us.
After Adam and Eve had sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, relinquishing dominion to Satan.
Sin has run rampant, and it has continued to get worse and worse, and it will get even worse the longer this world continues.
We are born sinners into a sinful world, and the only way to be saved from this mess is through faith in Christ.
Romans 5. 12 and I've got y'all marked there who had Bibles I brought down marked you Romans 5.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, And death by sin.
Death by sin.
And so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
All have sinned.
For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed where there is no law.
Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
But not as the offense, so also is the free gift.
For if through the offense of one many be dead, Much more the grace of God and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ. hath abounded unto many.
And not as it was by one that sinned, Adam, so is the gift Jesus.
For the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offenses unto justification.
For if by one man's offense death reigned by one, much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Therefore, as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one The free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
For as by one man's disobedience, many were made sinners.
So by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Christ was obedient unto the cross.
He fulfilled all the laws that God had put out there.
Something that you and I cannot do.
Christ fulfilled the laws of God.
Moreover, the law entered that the offense might abound.
But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Mercy is compassion.
If you want to see true and genuine compassion, cast your eyes on the cross of Christ.
You look at his suffering for you because you can't save yourself.
You keep looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
And of some have compassion, making a difference.
Which brings us to verse 22 of Jude, where we will pick up next week, God willing.
I'm going to close with this today.
Psalms 13, 5.
But I have trusted in thy mercy.
My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
Folks, if you haven't trusted in the mercy of God, please, please.
Accept the death of Jesus Christ, God's compassion to you as your payment in full.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son.
That whosoever shall not perish, but have everlasting life What is everlasting life?
Eternal.
Eternal life.
Don't you want eternal life, folks?
You have a choice.
You can either get eternal life or you're going to get eternal death.
I choose life.
I choose life.
Like Brother Ray.
I choose life.
Come, Lord Jesus.
Woo!
Heavenly Father, thank you so much, Lord, for this lesson you bless us with, Father.
Pray that each and every person to come today, Lord, was pointed to you, Father.
Lord, we know that You're the best teacher there is, Father, Lord, and we just pray that you'll use your words that were read here today to open the eyes of the lost, Lord, and to edify the saints, Lord.
We thank you for each and every person that's come, Lord.
Thank you for that, Lord.
Father, we want to pray for those who can't make it, Lord, because they're too sick to get out of bed, Father.
I want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Lord, and just pray that they'll care for these people, Lord, the way you want them to be cared for, that they'll just be an extension of you, Father, in love and mercy.
To each and every person that's here, Lord.
Lord, we sure thank you for letting me pass that test that they wanted to give me, Father.
We thank you for that, Lord.
Thank you for allowing me to continue to come, Father, to share your word, Lord.
Lord, we pray, Lord, in each and every person that's here today, Lord, you'll just bestow a blessing upon all of Lord.
Thank you, Father, for all that you do, Lord.
Thank you for Brother Larry feeling better, Lord, his wife, Father.
We thank you for that.
Just pray for each and every person of you.
Thank you for the camera lady coming and brother Ray helping.
We just thank you for all those who help, Lord.
And we pray for the ones, Lord, that are in charge of the guidance here, Father.
And we just pray, Lord, that you're you be over them and guide their thoughts, Lord.
And we know that there's laws that they have to follow, Father.
And we just thank you for them upholding them, Lord.
That's a good thing.
But we don't want people in here that's going to bring harm to these folks.
We thank you for all that you do, Lord.
We love you.
And we just pray that you'll bring us back to the safety next Sunday, Lord.
Thank you and love you, Lord.
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
