Verse by verse teaching - Lesson 19

All right, so we're going to continue our study in the book of Jude We have been working our way through the book of Jude and have made it all the way to verse Jude has been telling us about Consequences that occurred to those who turn the grace of our God into lasciviousness Some people may think that when they are saved they can do anything they want to because Christ Paid their sin debt and they are free just to carry on in their sins without any repercussions whatsoever This is a perverted belief of the devil that turns the grace of our God into lasciviousness I've heard it said Christ freed you from sin Not freed you to sin and that is a very powerful statement So far we have read about ungodly men ungodly people ungodly angels and today we're going to read about ungodly seeds as we read verse 7 in the book of Jude verse 7 in the book of Jude says ( Yes, ma'am if we could wait till after service we leave we'll take any question you have) Verse 7 in the book of Jude says even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them in like manner Giving themselves over to fornication and going after strange flesh are set forth for an example suffering the vengeance of eternal fire Let's pray. Heavenly Father we short thank you for your word so much Lord We thank you for this lesson that you bless us with to share with your people Lord And we pray Lord that the saints are edified and that the lost are pointed to you today Lord and most important Father We pray that you are glorified here today by the reading of your word. Thank you Father for your word so much What a blessing you are so thankful for those who come Lord to hear it Lord As we sing in Jesus name today Lord just use me as a vessel Lord to share your word and to point them to you Father Thank you God, Jesus name I pray, Amen So our text says even as Sodom and Gomorrah The word Sodom comes from the Hebrew word Sedom Sedom and the meaning gives us the idea of to scorch to scorch This Hebrew word is the word sodomy comes from the word sodomy comes from the word saw When I looked up the word sodomy in my very old dictionary The very first definition was the crime of Sodom If you have an old old dictionary like I got one that goes way back I don't know if it's like 30s or 40s and then I have another dictionary comes up to the 80s and then there's another one floating around somewhere with a more updated version meaning but the definitions of The words they changed as the years go by if you look it up in your different Man if you could wait till we're through the lesson. Oh, that's okay We appreciate you being here very much. There's word. Let's get through the lesson But if you have different years of dictionaries, you'll notice that the the means of the words they change as the years go by That's one thing I like about God's word It doesn't change it means the same thing it did when it was written as it means today So you got to look at a very old dictionary to find the real good meaning the true Meanings of what the words mean out of God's word So my old dictionary when I looked it up I looked up the word sodomy my very old dictionary and the very first definition was the crime of Sodom So my old dictionary points back to the Bible When I looked up the word sodomy in my 1988 dictionary I just happened to glance and see the word Sodom was above it and the definition for the word Sodom was as city destroyed by fire together with a neighboring city Gamora because of the sinfulness of the people Now the word Gamora comes from the Hebrew word Amor and it means a ruined he Now we said the meaning of the word Sodom gives us the idea of to scorch How many of you have ever burned yourself? Because you've got your hand or some other part of your body too close to a heat source Yeah You got too close to that heat source didn't you? Got burned Now what lesson did you learn from that? Yeah You thought it's the important thing you learn from that not to do that when I used to have my own body shop years ago And I just primered a car a vehicle in the primary room and I come out I had a flannel shirt on and I come out of that body shop and I was very cold And I walked by propane heater. Oh the open flame that propane heater lit me up It burned that flannel shirt and I was on fire And if I wouldn't have had help there that day, I would have known about it was too late I went up in the spark I was on fire and my help come over hitting me and slapping me and I'm what are you doing? And I had to look and I'm on fire. It burnt me all up burning my arms. We're back my neck Yes, ma'am it feels great Now God gives us this right here to learn from God gives us his word to learn from Now there are some people who say look at who they are talking about or That happened a long time ago and things have changed or some people just don't believe it all together Regardless of what your belief is God gave us his word to learn from Now we can either learn from the mistakes made by other people Or we can choose to ignore them and make the same mistakes and have the same outcome as the ones given unto us for example How many times do you need to be burned before you learn? And before you learn like this lady over here said she was she learned not to do that no more She quit carrying two cups of coffee Well, my husband was putting in pipeline. Oh I can tell you that I will not be priming a vehicle in a flannel shirt and get next to an open flame propane heater Again, I learned that lesson the hard way Sodom and Gamora don't get a second chance and I wonder how much longer God is going to continue to put up with this mess that's going on here in our country and don't fool yourself Thinking it can't happen here The same thing that was going on in Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding seas is growing worse here by the day The people The people of Sodom and Gomorrah never thought it could happen to them either Now if you don't know the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and you would like to You can read about it in the book of Genesis chapter 18 and 19 now this Yes, ma'am, that's right now I would highly encourage you to read those chapters Genesis 18 and 19 and John if you won't read them or try Thomas get with me and I'll get it get you up I'll tell you again what they are Now it's not a lot It's not a lot of reading but it's a little longer than what we have time for in our lesson today folks I want to tell you real quick on side I Get so jam-packed with information that I want to share every bit of it with you And I wish we had time to let me do that But I run out of time. I Want to tell you all that I've learned I Want to share that with everybody? But time is growing short And I don't have time to do all that I wish I did But to overview what happened The people of Sodom and Gomorrah had become so wicked and Ungodly that God destroyed them with brimstone and fire back in verse 7 of Jude our verse says even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them in like manner Sodom and Gomorrah was surrounded with seas So the surrounding cities of some of Sodom and Gomorrah started doing the same thing Sin is like an infection that if left untreated it gets worse and worse and starts to spread at our house We have a rose bush and some crepe murals. They're planting close to each other There is an old vine That grows up both of them Every year and if I don't cut it down it continues to grow and grow until it encapsulates both the rose bush and the crepe murals cutting them off from the sunlight that helps them grow Like a grapevine in it. Something, y'all have one of them too? Yes, ma'am that grapevine keeps going on by it. If I just continue to let this old vine run rampant and do its thing It would eventually kill the rose bush and the crepe murals and any other plant that it could reach and climb up and choke out What I was told to do years ago by a very good friend of mine that I miss very much sometimes He was a horticulturist so to speak And what he told me to do Was take and cut that vine and on the end of that vine put a small drop of poison on that vine Take a balloon a little blow of a balloon and put it on that thing and tie it And he said that would kill that plant without killing my rose bush and my crepe murals. If I just go out there and spray that old vine It's gonna kill the rose bushes and the crepe murals But he told me to address that single plant Just address that one plant that's what we have to do with sin What I was told to do years ago was to cut the vine and put some poison in a small balloon and tie it to the vine Directly in order to kill it and prevent it from killing the rose bush and the crepe murals But I have failed to do this so guess what the vine keeps coming back and I have to keep cutting it Or else the rose bush and the crepe murals will die God's Word says The wages of sin is dead But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord Adam Planning that vine of sin back in the Garden of Eden when he disobeyed God That vine of sin grows in all of us We are born with that vine in us already This old flesh that we live in is its ground and this old world is its fertilizer If we just continue to let it grow it starts to spread out and before you know it Your sin has spread out to the people around you just like the surrounding cities of Solomon and Gomorrah Jesus Christ was not born with a vine of sin drawing in him in fact Jesus Christ was perfect in God's sight Isaiah 42 21 says the Lord and that's Lord with a capital L or D Is well pleased for his righteousness sake He will magnify the law and make it honorable Jesus Christ fulfilled every dot and tittle of the law Jesus Christ where we failed Jesus Christ succeeded after Jesus was baptized in the Jordan in Mark 111 God's word says and there came a voice from heaven Saying thou art my beloved son in whom I am well pleased God is well pleased with his beloved Jesus Christ his only begotten son For God so the love so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son Whoo, why would God give his only begotten son if it wasn't perfect? God gave his only begotten son first Corinthians 1522 says For as in Adam all die Even so in Christ shall all be made alive For as in Adam all die there is your wages of sin Remember the wages of sin is death For as in Adam all die that is the way you've seen in Adam we had that old vine of sin in us Even so in Christ No sin vine in Christ Shall all be made alive Even so in Christ shall all be made alive no sin vine in Christ Now the question is how do I get in Christ and out of Adam? The answer to that question is through the cross of Christ on the cross Christ received your wages of sin in your place what you are owed for your sin Is death on the cross God put all your sin on Christ What happened? Christ died Because the wages of sin is dead On the cross Christ received your wages of sin in your place Placing your mind of sin upon himself and offering his sinless Sin vine free life to God the Father in your place God the Father accepted Christ received your wages of death and your praise And you are given Christ's sin free wages which are life You are reconciled through the cross you are no longer an enemy but saved Let's close today by reading 2 Corinthians 5 17 through 21 Second Corinthians 5 17 through 21 you got it Thomas? Second Corinthians 5 17 through 21 Therefore if any man be in Christ He is a new creature He is a new creature that sin by Is gone You are a new creature in Christ Old things are passed away Behold all things are become new whoo And all things are God who has reconciled us Reconciled us You are no longer in To change mutually You go from being enemy to being free you go from being a a creation To us child you are adopted you are reconciled and All things are God who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ and Have given to us the ministry of reconciliation To wit that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself God of Jesus Christ died for all of us He dialed died for the world He reconciled the world unto himself not imputing their trespasses unto them and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation Now then we are ambassadors for Christ as though God did beseech you by us We pray you in Christ said be reconciled to God Excuse me for he hath made him To be sinned for us He took our old sin fine on himself He took our sin out he took he made him to be sinned for us Who knew no sin Christ was perfect? Remember we said God was well pleased with Christ That we might be made the righteousness of God in him folks is through Jesus Christ that we are saved Real quickly I want to comment on something I heard this morning God willing we're gonna talk a little bit. We're gonna pick this verse back up next Sunday morning God willing but this morning I Heard something that I want to comment on right quick I Get so tired of hearing people spreading false They're not They're spreading lies. That's what they're doing this morning As I've been studying for Sodom and Gomorrah And it's talks about Sodom This morning it has gotten rampant. He's gotten so bad our prayer. I don't like talking politics But the president is okay in this stuff All these pride deals God hates pride But this morning I heard somebody say and it was a sodomite I could tell Well, that's me judgment I guess but from the way they were dressed and the way they were talking and the speech that they gave They wanted to come across as that so that is where I'm Maybe I shouldn't judge. I'm not trying to judge but I'm just that's where they come across to me what they said was God loves you just the way you are That is a lie God does not love you just the way you are If he did what was the purpose of the cross? Why would he send his only begotten son to die in? a shameful torture Why would he do that if God loves you just the way you are That is a lie God wants you to be saved. God does not wish no one to perish, but it's your choice John 1627 says For the father himself loveth you because Put a big line up underneath that if you mark in your Bible if you take notes For the father himself loveth you because and if that person is spreading those lies is watching this I Want you to underline because? For the father himself loveth you because Ye, this is Jesus talking. Ye have loved me and Have believed that I came out from God It is through Jesus Christ that God loves you Without Jesus Christ folks you are hopelessly in your sins the Wages of sin is death all your righteousnesses are as filthy rags and When it says filthy rags that is talking about them The rags that the lepers used to wipe their sores with and throw down now How many people want to pick that up God don't want to pick that up? God doesn't want to touch sin God can't be around sin He that believeth on him Is not condemned But he that believeth not is Condemned already Because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God and I want to tell you something If you're still living inside of me if you're still hanging out with side of me the more Which they're gone because God showed us that's wrong if you're still doing that You don't believe in Jesus Christ if you do I Would be shocked oh We are to put off the old you are a new creature in Jesus Christ I Just had to get that off my chest Because I don't like people lying to people and that is a lie and I'll tell you what if I Wasn't going to be a preacher Then I would stand up here what I probably could because my conscience But if I wasn't a preacher I could probably do just what that person did right there and say God loves you just the way you are But I can't do that Because I want to tell you the truth I Want to tell you the truth and I want to tell you something I want to share something with you If I lie to you God says it's going to be harder for a pastor that lies to somebody Then for somebody who's not a pastor in life to you. I don't never want to lie to you And I can't stand by and listen to that mess Without saying something if you go to the doctor and you've got something growing on you You want to know what it is? You don't want the doctor to come back and say well, it's just This is getting back. Give me back When in fact you got stage four cancer and you're dying You want to know the truth? I? would and I'm telling you God is not pleased with just who we are He never would have sent Christ to down on that cross if there wouldn't have been a purpose for it And the purpose is because we are born in the sin and we need to be saved I'm sorry to mean to rant but I just came I don't like it When people are spreading lies and what's happening in America today? We're standing back and we're allowing these people to spread these lies and it's costing more souls And nobody's saying nothing about it I'm gonna stand with Joshua today, and I'm gonna say it's for me in my house. We choose to serve the Lord Heavenly Father we thank you so much Lord for this day that you bless us with father Lord pray that your blessings and the courage to stand up for your truth Help us to speak out Lord Against the wrongs Lord Against the people who are spreading blasphemy father Help us to point people to you Lord and your word father Well, thank you so much for your word Lord. What a blessing Lord and we just Wish that more people wouldn't read it and they would learn from it and they would quit repeating the same Mistakes over and over again Lord We know father that one of these days the mistake making is gonna be over with father and you're gonna return father and you're gonna Get rid of the sin Lord You're gonna get rid of the wickedness and you're gonna call your saints home Lord to be with you father and Lord We just pray come Lord Jesus come this world's getting worse and by the day father Thank you for your troops Lord Thank you for your love and kindness and thank you for your patience father And I know Lord that any one of them that was in sovereign good more father If they would have just repeated and saw your face this Lord that you would have forgiven same as today or You will forgive father. We thank you for your mercy We thank you for your grace in Christ. Thank you for Jesus Lord to die on the crossbar sins father We pray for those who don't know Christ as their Savior love father We pray that they would seek you and repent from their ways Lord Thank you for your love and kindness and your patience father. Thank you for your patience Pray for a good week for each another person here today Lord will pray for the healing of those Lord or sick Thank you for the ones that you feel Lord their bodies more with perfect spiritual healing as well here Lord Thank you God for another day Lord. We pray that you're glorified in it Lord. We pray that you were glorified here today father Thank you, thank you, thank you Lord Jesus. In Jesus' name we pray, Lord, Amen.
