Episode Transcript
I remember back when I was a younger man.
Didn't seem like my voice, my throat ever got wore out.
I just wished I'd used all that babbling when I was a younger man to be talking about God's Word when I was younger.
Now that I'm older, it seems like I wasted a lot of my voice.
I sure hate that.
But we learn as we go, hopefully.
We look back and we learn from what we've done.
Anyway, we already told you there, we're all about the Jews.
Hello everybody.
Oh, let me get them started over here.
That's why I put the camera ladies not here with us today.
But I hope y'all can see the verses.
I hope I'm close enough there.
I hope I ain't too close.
Maybe a little bit back further.
Maybe a little closer.
I don't have nobody here to tell me how far I need to go there.
But anyway, these are the verses we're going to be covering today.
So if you get time and you want to go back and look at some, maybe you didn't hear me clearly say one of them or something.
Or maybe I want a little faster and you could keep up.
But right here is the verses we'll be covering today, including the book of Jude in verse 10.
So that's the verses.
I passed them out to everybody so they can look them up when they get back to the rooms and go back over.
So last week we left off in the book of Jude on verse 10 discussing the word speak.
We mentioned that what we say matters.
So with that said, I want to speak verse 10 of Jude so we can pick up right where we left off last week.
Book of 10 in the book of Jude.
I mean, verse 10 in the book of Jude.
But these speak evil of those things which they know not.
But what they know naturally as brute beasts in those things, they corrupt themselves.
Now we went back and we looked at where he says, but these speak evil.
And we look back at a few verses back in Jude where Jude tells us who these are and these are the ungodly people.
So let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for the people that come today.
Lord, to hear your word, Father.
And Lord, we just pray that you would use me as a vessel, Lord, to share your word here with these people, Lord.
And share your word with those who tune in to watch, Lord.
We just pray that you just edify the saints through me, Lord.
Help me to speak your truth, Father.
Speak through me, Lord.
And we pray, Lord, that every year is a tinted Father and that your word goes forth here today, Lord.
We thank you so much for all that you do, Lord.
We thank you for your word so much, Lord.
In Jesus' name I pray, Lord.
Amen.
So Jude says, but these speak evil.
We do not have to speak evil, folks.
When we look back at Jude verse 4, we learn that these were ungodly men who denied the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you want to speak words that are not evil, words that build up or edify others, then right here is your key.
Don't reject the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
That is a key, folks, that opens the door to better communication, that builds others up instead of tearing them down.
Do you ever wonder what the will of God is for your life?
Have you ever wondered that?
What is the will of God for my life?
God puts you here for a reason.
What is the will of God for my life?
God wants you to believe Him.
God wants you to accept His Son, Jesus the Christ, as your sacrifice for every sin that you have committed in the past, will commit today and in the future.
When Jesus gave His life for you on the cross, and yes, He gave, no one took it from Him, John 10, 17 says, "Therefore does my Father love me because I laid down my life, that I might take it again."
John 10, 18 says, "No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself."
Jesus could have simply said, "No, I'm not going to go do that."
He says, "I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of my Father."
Jesus could have simply said, "I have changed my mind, Father.
I do not want to suffer that agonizing, painful, humiliating death of crucifixion, but He loved you too much."
Jesus loved you too much.
God loved you.
God loves you so much.
For God loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son.
Romans 5, 8, and we're going to be turning to that passage today.
Romans 5, 8, we got you Mark, right here is Romans 5.
We're going to go to Romans 5, 8.
There is Romans chapter 5, and we're going to start at verse 8 right there at John 8.
Finally, Thomas?
Alright, we still got one turn.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans.
Did you say what?
Romans, Romans.
Romans chapter 5?
Almost getting there.
Oh, you got these big little tabs there on there.
I like that. 3, 4, 1, 1 page.
Yes, it hurts, says Mark.
Did you put them on there yourself?
That's a good idea right there.
That's nice.
That took me a long, long time.
I bet it did, but that's handy.
That's really nice.
One of the ladies here today in her Bible, it says, you know how some of our Bibles have the little tabs on there that just had the abbreviations and the tabs.
Every book of the Bible in her Bible has got either Romans or Mark or Luke.
It's got a little tab on the end there that says every book.
That is so neat.
That's a handy little tool right there.
So we left off with God loves you so much for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believed within Him shall not perish for everlasting life.
Jesus went to that cross, folks, because He loved you so much.
Romans 5, 8 says, but God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
5, 9.
Paul goes on to say, much more than being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him, through who?
Through Jesus.
Romans 5, 10.
For if when we were enemies, and we're going to talk a little bit more about that here in a little bit, for if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
Now, the word reconcile, I want to talk on the word reconcile.
The word reconcile means to change mutually.
To change mutually.
We are born into sin, folks.
Therefore, we are born enemies of God.
I hate saying that.
I never wanted to be the enemy of God.
I never did.
But I was born into sin.
We are all born into sin.
We are born enemies of God because we are born into sin.
God is sinless.
Sin is the enemy of God.
When we remain in our sins, we remain the enemies of God.
But God, through His grace, has made a way for us to be reconciled, changed mutually to Him.
Not He'll reconcile to us.
I would not want to live in eternity with a God who would sin.
God did absolutely nothing wrong, folks.
There's some people out here I'll say sometimes, why would a loving father let this disaster happen?
Why would a loving father let that disaster happen?
Why would a loving father let this happen?
Folks, it's not God's fault.
God did not bring sin into the world.
When God created this world, He created a sinless world.
Man brought sin into this world.
God is just in everything that He does.
God did not do nothing wrong, folks.
Man did.
God did absolutely nothing wrong.
Man did at the very beginning.
When God made Adam, He gave Adam a choice.
Adam disobeyed, thus sinning against God and bringing sin into the world, which we are brought into by birth.
We are born enemies of God.
Romans 5, 12 says, "Wherefore, as by one man, Adam sinned, entered into the world, and death by sin."
And so death passed upon all men.
That means mankind.
That doesn't leave women out.
That includes women, too.
So this comes from a woman, don't think, "Ooh, I'm good as I'm mean."
No, that includes women, too.
He says, "And so death passed upon all men, for they all have sinned."
We are all sinners.
Y'all come on in.
Here, let me get you a chair, sir.
Excuse me just a second, folks.
There you go, sir.
Romans 5, 12 says, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world," that was Adam that we just discussed, "and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for they all have sinned."
God does not want you to be his enemy.
He does not want you to be his enemy.
God wants so much for you to be reconciled to him.
That was our word, reconciled.
When Adam and Eve realized they had disobeyed God, they realized they were both naked, and they covered themselves and hid from God.
Genesis 3, 8 says, "And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden."
Folks, God already knew that they had sinned.
God knew what they were going to do before they did it.
God is omniscient, omniscient, and that word means having knowledge of all things.
If you think God can make the heavens and the earth and all that lies therein and between and create you and I and do all kinds of miracles but don't know about all your sins, you're going to be very disappointed when it comes time for God's word.
God knew where Adam and Eve were and he already knew they had sinned.
God knows where each and every one of us are and he knows each and every one of our sins too.
Psalm 69, 5 says, "O God, thou knowest my foolishness, and my sins are not hid from thee."
I imagine that before Adam and Eve sinned, they would run to God when he came to visit them.
I imagine that they enjoyed such wonderful fellowship and joy with the Lord before they sinned.
And I myself look forward to the day when I get to run to the Lord and enjoy that kind of fellowship with the Lord.
You can do the same thing when your time comes for your spirit to leave your body.
You can find the joy that God wants you to have through Jesus, folks.
If you want to be reconciled to God, if you no longer want to be the enemy of God but you want to be forgiven and find the joy that helps you while you are here and know the forgiveness of God, God has made a way at the cross of Christ.
While Jesus was dying in agony and pain, suffering beyond our imagination, God put the world's sins of each and every person upon Christ.
In order for us to be reconciled by God, there must be someone to pay the bill, folks.
Now either you're going to be responsible for your sins and you're going to pay that bill, or you're going to accept the one who already took the responsibility for your sins and accept the one who's already paid the bill for you.
It's sent back here in Romans 5-11, and not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
The word "atonement" means "exchange."
Exchange.
If you want to be reconciled with God, if you want that exchange, folks, it's through Christ.
Faith in Christ is your atonement.
Christ paid the price.
Christ is your atonement.
Christ is the one who brings the exchange for you in order for you to be reconciled to God.
Oh, that's good.
God cannot just let the bill go unpaid.
There must be an atonement made.
At the cross, the payment for your sins was paid by Jesus the Christ.
He accepted all your debt and paid it.
He then offered up to the Father in your place the receipt of payment in full.
Here, Lord, I've paid it for you.
And God the Father judged it and accepted it as legal payment for all your sins and his righteousness, and his righteous judgment is satisfied.
Thus, the atonement has been made for each and every one of us, reconciling us back to God.
Sometimes, my wife and I will wear our eating.
I'll see somebody over or even by themselves.
Usually, it's an elderly person.
And sometimes, there'll be an elderly couple over there.
And maybe sometimes there's a family with kids.
I'll call the waitress over to me or I'll get up to pay my wife and our bill, and I'll ask the waitress.
I say, "You see the people over there or that person over there, that elderly couple?"
I'll say, "I'd like to pay their bill for them."
I say, "Don't tell them."
So, I'll pay their tab for them.
Now, the waitress doesn't say, "Well, that'll be $40, but I only want 20 from you and I'll take the rest from them."
No, she gives me the full tab.
She'll have me the full tab.
That'll be $55.
Doug?
So, I'll give her the $55.
Guess what?
Those people that I paid their bill for?
They don't owe me nothing.
They don't owe me dying.
Why?
Because I paid the bill for them.
That's what Jesus Christ has done for you.
That's what Jesus Christ has done for me.
He has paid the bill for us.
Our sin debt must be paid.
And it is paid by Jesus Christ.
But, folks, it's a free gift.
Those people that if I pay their bill, and I leave, they can't chase me down and say, "Hey, no, we're going to pay you back here.
We're going to pay you back."
Folks, you can't pay Jesus back.
You can't pay him back.
It's a free gift.
It is paid in full.
God accepted Jesus' payment in full.
Like that lady at the cash register accepted my money to pay for their bill.
God accepted Christ's death on that cross for our sins.
What a deal!
What a deal!
There must be an Atonement made.
Jesus Christ made that Atonement.
He offered it up to the Father in your place.
God the Father accepted it.
God's righteous judgment is satisfied.
Thus, the Atonement has been made for each and every one of us, reconciling us.
We're changed mutually.
We're no longer enemies of God.
Through Christ, we are made new, no longer enemies of God.
Second Corinthians 517, and we have this mark.
Second Corinthians 517, and you should be marked, Thomas.
I love how you did that.
That's amazing.
Second Corinthians 517, and we're going to read the one right after everyone right after you.
Are we all there?
Good.
I want your eyes on this.
This is good stuff.
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.
We are no longer enemies of God.
We are new creatures.
Old things are passed away.
That old man, that old enemy of God is buried in that tomb.
Jesus went to the cross.
He died on that cross.
He was taken off of that cross.
He was put in a tomb.
On the third day, he rose up out of that tomb.
That old flesh and everything laid in that tomb.
Our sins laid in that tomb.
Those sins did not come out of that tomb when Jesus came out of that tomb.
Those sins are buried.
They are passed away.
Behold, all things are become new.
And when he says all, he means all.
All things are become new. 518, and all things are of God who have reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ.
That's good, and have given to us a ministry of reconciliation.
We are no longer enemies through Jesus Christ. 519 to wit that God was in Christ, what?
Reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing trespasses unto them, and had committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Whoo-hoo!
520, now then we are ambassadors for Christ.
The ones that Jude is talking about here, the ungodly that are speaking evil, they are not ambassadors for Christ.
It goes on to say, "As though God did beseech you by us, we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
For he hath made him who is him, Jesus.
He hath made Jesus to be sinned for who?
For us.
For he hath made him to be sinned for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
Whoo-hoo!
We do not have to speak evil.
God will help you with your words.
And next week, God willing, we are going to see how God helped Moses with his words.
If you want help, God is more than willing to help you.
But first, you must seek God for that help.
God's word says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness."
That's right.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
The kingdom of God sent his righteousness.
You can find that righteousness through his Son.
John 14, 6 says, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth," that's right, "the truth and the life.
No man cometh unto the Father but by me."
Now, I want to close today with Proverbs 22, 11 and 12.
Proverbs 22, 11 says, "He that loveth pureness of heart, for the great grace of his lips, the King shall be his friend."
Proverbs 22, 12, "The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor."
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your word, Lord.
Thank you for blessing us with a lesson to come and share with these folks, Lord, who come faithfully to hear your word taught, Lord.
And, Father, I just pray, Lord, that the saints were edified, Lord, that they learned something today, Father, but we want to learn.
We want to learn your word, Lord.
Lord, I pray that Jesus was taught here today, Father, and that the people were pointed to Christ, Lord.
Thank you, God, for all that you do, for all you do is good, Father.
I can't say that enough, Lord.
All you do is good.
Thank you for changing our lives through faith in Christ, Lord.
Amen.
For we know, Father, for by grace are we saved through faith in that and not of ourselves, Lord.
It is your gift, Father.
Amen.
Your gift.
Thank you for Jesus, Lord.
Thank you so much for all that you do, Lord.
We ask you, he says, in Jesus' name today, Lord, we want to pray for those, Lord, who are bedridden here today, Father, who can't get out of bed, Lord.
We want to thank you for the ability to get out of ours, Lord.
Amen.
Father, we pray for the caregivers that are here, Lord, that help take care of these people, Lord.
Amen.
And thank you for those who come faithfully, Lord, to hear your word taught, Lord.
And we pray, Lord, that they fail.
Thank you, Lord.
In Jesus' name we pray, Lord.
Amen.
