Ok, where were we here? Let's see, the Lord knows how to deliver the Gavliel temptations and we said that the word temptation means a pudding to proof and it comes from a Greek word meaning to test. And to reserve the unjust, now what's the opposite of unjust? Just. That's right. And to reserve the unjust until the day of judgment to be punished. Verse 10, "But chiefly," and for that word chiefly you could say most of all or you could say especially, "them that walk," now you remember we've been talking about this walking in the past, right? The word walk means to traverse or travel. To traverse or travel. Now when you're on that road taking your journey, you're considered to be walking or traversing it or traveling that road. But most of all or especially them that traverse or walk after the flesh or carnally minded, people that look into things of this world, carnally minded. And the lust, and another word for lust is longing or desire of uncleanness, of uncleanness and despise government or the word for despise is to think against government. Now God has a government. His government is not carnally minded. God's government is totally man's government. It's kind of designed on a premise but God cannot lie and mankind lies. So Baylong here we're going to find out he kind of despised God's government. He despised God's government. He thought against God's government. Now presumptuous are they which means audacious or daring. They dare to do things that they shouldn't be doing. They are, are they self-willed. That's self-pleasing. We're going to read into this in a little bit. We're going to find out that Baylong was self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. Verse 11, whereas angels which are greater in power might bring not railing accusation against them before a war, verse 12, but these as natural brute beasts made to be taken and destroyed speak evil of the things that they understand not and shall utterly perish in their own corruption. 13, and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness as they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime, spots they are and blemishes sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you. Verse 14, having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin. Now folks there's more than one type of adultery. If you're, you can, adultery can be committed with the opposite sex or with the same member of the sex, but adultery can also be committed against the Lord. So having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin beguiling, that means to entrap or allure, entice unstable souls and unstable soul is a soul that hasn't made up their mind yet. I told you before there's one road two different directions. An unstable soul does not know which way to go on that road. I used to be an unstable soul and I can tell you for a fact I was traveling in the wrong direction. I knew there was a God but I wasn't going towards God. I was going away from God. Unabelled souls and heart they have exercised with covetous practices, greediness. We're going to find out that Balaam was a very greedy person. Cursed children. Verse 15, which have forsaken the right way. Now do y'all remember what we said the word way means? Road. They have forsaken the right road, the right way and are gone astray. Here we go. Following the way of Balaam. Now remember that's who we're talking about is Balaam, who the son of Bozor, who loved the wages or you could say the pay for service of unrighteousness, that is wrong or iniquity. Verse 16, but was rebuked for his iniquity. The dumbass speaking with man's voice forbade the madness of the prophet. Now another word for a prophet is an inspired speaker. So we're going to go back to Numbers where we started. We're going to pick right back up our numbers and see where did we leave off at. Verse 22, 7. So we're going to pick back up to 22, 8. Now let's pick up the 22, 7. Numbers 22, 7. Boy, almost put you right on there, didn't it? Numbers 22, 7. One more page on that. Right back to where we stayed and marked that. Verses 22, 7. Now like I said, we're not going to get through all of these today, but we're going to try to get through Numbers hopefully. Verses numbers 22, 7 is where we left off. Verses 22, 7. and the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand. That's what we were discussing, the rewards of divination. And we said the rewards of divination are unrighteous wages. And they came unto Balaam and spake unto him the words of Balaam. So here they come with unrighteous wages trying to pay Balaam to curse the children of Israel. And he said unto them, lodge here this night, so Balaam was told, he said, okay, lodge here this night, stay with me, and I will bring you word again as the Lord shall speak unto me. And the princes of Moab abode with Balaam. So Balaam, he wanted to, let me sleep on this, discuss it with the Lord, and I'll get back to you in the morning. But here by the way, you all just stay with me. So the first thing I've seen right here, what they should have done, Balaam should have said, no, I ain't doing all this, you all need to get on back out of my house. That's what he should have done. But he didn't do that. He invited them to stay the night with him. Shouldn't have done that. And God came unto Balaam and said, what men are these with thee? Like God didn't know. God already knew. But God wanted Balaam to realize, who you got in your house here, Balaam? Who are these? Behold, there is a people come out which covereth the face of the earth. Come now, curse me them, peradventure I shall be able to overcome them and drive them out. And God said unto Balaam, thou shalt not go with them, thou shalt not curse the people, for they are blessed. And Balaam rose up in the morning and said unto the princess of Balak, get you into your land for the Lord refuses to give me leave to go with you. So Balaam, he told them, God said no way, you all got to go, there's the exit. So Balaam told them to leave. He couldn't do it. And the princess of Moab rose up and they went unto Balak and said Balaam refuses to come with us. So the ones that Balaam sent to him, Balaam sent them back. So they went back to Balaam and they told Balaam, he refuses to do it. He refuses to come and do that. And Balaam sent ye again princes more and more honorable than they. So Balak, he thought, well you know what I'll do? And this is the way the devil does you sometimes folks, he'll do the same thing. If he can't lure you in with one little old carrot there he's dangling in front of you, oh I can't get him with that. He's going to lure something else. He's going to make that carrot a little bit bigger, a little bit more tastier, a little bit more. He's going to lure more and more and more at you. So you've got to be ready to send him packing. And the princess of Moab rose up and they went unto Balak and said Balaam refuses to come with us. And Balak sent yet again princes more and more honorable than they. So Balak is sending more honorable people than the first, probably more better equipped with wording and talking, better salesman would be my guess. I mean it doesn't say that for sure but that would be my thinking on that. Somebody more of a salesman they're going to send back to him. And they came to Balaam and said to him, "Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor." Right then and there Balak should have said, "Look I done told you no. God done said no. No. But no he entertained, he sat there and he listened to them. He listened to more enticing stuff. When Adam and Eve were in the garden of Eden and God told them do not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Don't eat of it for in the day that thou do thou shall surely perish. Thou shall surely die. When that old devil come up to Eve whispering, "Danglin' that carrot in front of her." She should have said no. God said no. Same principle here. God told Balak no. But he sat there and he listened to the second group of people come in again, dangling a carrot in front of him and they're going to make that carrot a little bit better here. They said, "And they came to Balak and said to him, 'Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor. Let nothing I pray thee hinder thee from coming unto me.'" He said, "Don't believe what the Lord said." That's the same thing the devil basically told Eve. "Hey don't believe all that. You don't have to believe that." God told him no. Here Balak's telling him, "Hey don't believe all that." That's the same thing the devil does. He says, "This little old sin ain't going to bother you. It ain't going to do nothing. Don't believe that." God said, "Don't do it." He says, "For I will promote thee unto very great honor." What is that? That is the pride of the flesh. Pride of the flesh folks. Oh I'm somebody. I'm getting promoted. If only I go do this. His mind got to messing up there. "And I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me." Boy I'm getting sweeter and sweeter. "Come therefore I pray thee, curse me this people." And Balak answered and said unto the servants of Balak, "If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord my God to do less or more." Smart words right there. If only he would have believed his own words. If only he would have took that to heart and laid foundation on that. He says, "I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord my God to do less or more." He admits God is the one that blesses him with the ability to get out of bed in the morning. God is the one that blesses him with the ability to breathe. God is the one that blesses him with the ability to do what he does. He's acknowledging that. Now therefore I pray ye, here he goes, he says, "Tear ye also here this night." She comes and says, "Stay with me tonight that I might know what the Lord will say unto me more." God has already told him. God has already told us, "You're not going to change God's word. You're not going to change what God says." And God came unto Balaam at night. He come back. I sure thank God for saving James. I thank God he'll come back and talk to us. I thank God he'll get all mad and storm opposite. I done told you once and walk off. I'm glad. It's such a blessing to me to know that God, he understands that sometimes I need reassurance. It's a blessing of that. That's a blessing. I can come to God even after I've made a mistake and he still forgives me and he'll forgive me again. What a blessing. I do my best not to mess up, but when I do mess up, I know that I can run to the Father and he's there and he's not going to change. What a blessing. And God came unto Balaam at night and said unto him, "If the men come to call thee," now this is important. "If the men come to call thee, rise up and go with them. But yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do." And Balaam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass and went with the Princess of Moab. Now if the men come to call thee, verse 22 to 20, okay I'm not there yet. And Balaam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass and went with the Princess of Moab. And God's anger was kindled because he went. And the angel of the Lord stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass and his two servants were with him. Now to call on him to rise up, now they never did, they never agreed to what was going to transpire here. Balaam already had it in his heart to go and get the prestige and go and get the money and go and do this against God's will. God said okay, you want to go? So he went. "Rise up." It's a Hebrew word meaning to confirm. It was never confirmed. So he went. And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand. So the angel of the Lord was standing in the way of the donkey to keep going. Now Balaam didn't see the angel of the Lord but the ass saw the angel of the Lord. Now he didn't see it but the donkey did. And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand. So the angel of the Lord had his sword out and the donkey saw the angel in the way. And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand. And the ass turned aside out of the way. That's a road by the way. You all remember the way? The way is road. So the ass is taking Balaam down the wrong path of the road. Instead of going to the Lord, they're going away from the Lord. Okay, you all follow me? Two different paths there on that road. The donkey is taking him the opposite way. Now the angel of the Lord is in the way trying to make him turn back around, turn around. He's trying to get his attention to turn him around. Now the ass saw this and the ass, he turned aside out of the way. He went off the road and went into the field. Oh, Balaam don't like that. And Balaam smoked the ass to turn her into the way. So Balaam's whooping up on the donkey trying to make him get back up on the road. And the donkey's trying to take Balaam back. The donkey's taking him back. Let's go back. What are you doing? What are you doing? But the angel of the Lord stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side and a wall on that side. So there's a wall, two walls here that are going there. And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she thrust herself onto the wall and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall. And he smoked her again. So Balaam's whooping up on the poor donkey. Donkey's trying to turn back. And the angel of the Lord went further and stood in a narrow place where there was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. So now you can't get off the road. You can't go to the right or left. You're either going forward or back. That's the way it's set up here. God was trying to get him to turn around. And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she fell down under Balaam. And Balaam's anger was kindled and he smoked the ass with his staff. So now Balaam starts beating the donkey. Poor donkey. Donkey's trying to help him. And this is cool here. And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass. So now the donkey's fix to start talking. Donkey's going to start talking. And she said unto Balaam, the donkey looks at Balaam and says, "What have I done unto thee that thou hast smitten me these three times?" "Why, what did I do?" And Balaam said unto the ass, "Balaam's talking back. He's going to talk back to the donkey." And Balaam said unto the ass, "Because thou hast mocked me, I would there wear a sword in my hand, for now would I kill thee." So Balaam's going to kill the donkey if he had a sword. And the ass said unto Balaam, "Am not I thine ass upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day?" He's had this donkey for a long time. And the donkey's always been good to them, done what he's wanting to do. Was I ever want to do so unto thee? And Balaam, and he said, "Nay." Balaam said, "No, you've always been good." Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand and he bowed down his head and fell flat on his face. Balaam didn't see the angel of the Lord until God opened his eyes to see the angel of the Lord. Folks, oh man, that's good right there. If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Savior, God will open your eyes to the angel of the Lord. His name is Jesus Christ. He is the host of God's armies. He is the angel of the Lord. God will open your eyes to Christ and only God can do that. I can't do it. I can sit here and I come wherever is somebody and I tell you about Jesus Christ and I can preach Jesus Christ and I do. But until God opens your eyes to the angel of the Lord, you're not going to know Jesus as your Savior. Now how do you get your eyes open to the angel of the Lord? You seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. God's Word says thy word is truth. This right here folks will open your eyes to Jesus Christ. He will show you the angel of the Lord. I promise you, if he'll show me, he'll show you too. He showed Balaam. Balaam didn't say until God opened his eyes and showed him and he will do the same for you. We're going to finish up this chapter right here and we'll close for the day. Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand and he bowed down his head and fell flat on his face and the angel of the Lord said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? Behold I went out to withstand thee because thy way is perverse before me. That's wrong. He was going the wrong way. The angel of the Lord was trying to get him to turn around. The angel, if you're going the wrong way folks, Jesus wants you to turn around. And Balaam said unto the angel of the Lord, I have sinned for I knew not that thou stood us in the way against me. Now therefore if it displeased thee, I will get me back again. And the angel of the Lord said unto Balaam, Go with the men, but only the word that I shall speak unto thee that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princess of Balak. Now remember here a while back we talked about Moses when God called him to lead his people out and Moses didn't want to speak because he didn't speak well. God said, I will be thy mouth. Now God is telling him, telling Balaam, only speak what I tell you to speak. Now that's going to be very important. And the angel of the Lord said, Go with the men, but only the word that I shall speak unto thee that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princess of Balak. And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the inner, which is in the utmost coast. So Balak was rejoicing, yay! This man has come to curse God's people. There's a lot of people who rejoice nowadays when they think they won a cursing of God's people. When they took the Bible out of the schools teaching our children God's word, there was so many people that rejoiced in that. They rejoiced in that. They don't want your children to know God's word. That's what the devil does. He doesn't want people to learn about Christ. If God's word would have remained in the schools all these years, I can't help but wonder how many less school shootings we would have had. How many less children's deaths would have died. How many less teachers would have died if they would have been raised up in God's word. Think about that. When Balak heard that Balak was come, he went out to meet him to a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast. And Balak said unto Balak, did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? Wherefore camest thou not unto me? Am I not able indeed to promote thee to honor? Now he's saying, why didn't you come the first time I called you? When I sent for you the first time, why didn't you call? Don't you think that I can promote you? When Jesus Christ was being tried by the devil, the devil took him up to a mountain and he showed him, he told him, all this I'll give you if you'll just bow what I need to me. I couldn't help but think about that. Wherefore cameest thou not unto me? Am I not able indeed to promote thee to honor? He's telling him he's going to promote him to carnal honor, to the world's honor. And Balak said unto Balak, lo I am coming to thee. He didn't answer him. He just says, lo I'm here now. Lo I am coming to thee, have I now any power at all to do say anything. The word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak. So he means well. He's coming out saying he means well. And Balak went with Balak and they came unto Kerjath-Uzzah. And Balak offered oxen and sheep and sent to Balak and to the princes that were with him. And it came to pass on the morrow that Balak took Balak and brought him up into the high places of Baal, there's your high places, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people. We're going to close right there, I know it's, y'all got full bellies in their mugs tired. So we're going to stop right there and pick back up here next Sunday, God willing.
