Alright, everybody have a good week? Good, good, good. Alright so last week we left off in verse 11 of the book of Jude where Jude says, "Woe unto them for they have gone in the way of Cain and ran greedily after the angels." And the Lord said, "The Lord said, 'Let us pray, and let us pray for the error of Balaam for reward and perish in the game saying of court.'" Let's pray. Heavenly Father we thank you so much for your wonderful, wonderful word, Lord. Thank you for your word, Father. Lord we sure thank you for Jesus, Lord. Thank you for the one you sent to take away our sins. All our sins are put on him, Father, at the cross, Lord. We just thank you, Lord, that he stayed on that cross and paid our sin debt at the cross, Father. Lord now we just pray. Lord we just pray that you would just pray, Lord, that you would just teach here today, Lord. Just use me to teach, Father, and we just pray that the people are receptive to your word, Father, and that you would just draw them to the cross and show them Jesus Christ, Father. Thank you, Lord, for all that you do for us, Lord, for all that you do for us, Lord, for all that you do for us, Lord, for all you do is good, Father. Thank you. In Jesus' name I pray, amen. Amen. So Jude says, "Grief unto them, for they have gone," which means traverse or travel away or depart, "to turn as on a pivot." Now I used the example of a compass last week that has a pointer inside to help explain this a little bit. The door is open over here and it's kind of gotten intense in a way. Can we, that would be fantastic. Ronnie you get that, well thank you sir, thank you very much. Hi Ms. Priscilla. Hi! Oh thank you Ronnie. Now I used the example of a compass and that pointer inside the compass to help explain this. That pointer points to the way I'm traveling. If I am traveling this way and I have a compass, have y'all seen a compass before? It's got a little arrow in it that moves, it shows you the way that you're traveling. If I'm pointing this way, the pointer's going to point that way. If I'm going back this way, the pointer's going to point back that way. Now that pointer has got letters in there, north, east, south, west. And that pointer, whichever way that pointer's pointing tells you which way you're going. Now I used a compass last week to help demonstrate that. Jude says they have gone in the way. The word way used here means the road, a road. We are all on a journey through this life and we're all traveling the same road. Now that road that we're traveling has many forks and detours and you can turn off of it, but we're all on the same road if you think about it. We are all on a journey through this life traveling the same road. We are all born and we are all going to shed this old sinful flesh someday. Same road, same road. Now which direction on that road you choose to travel, and notice I said you choose to travel, which direction on that road you choose to travel during the time in between life and death is going to decide where your spirit is going to spend eternity. These ungodly people that Jude is warning us about had the same opportunity as anyone else who has ever been born or that will be born. So with that said let's all turn to Deuteronomy chapter 30 and I've got everybody's mark. Chapter 30 verse 15. Let me get you there man. Alright. Everybody should be marked. Deuteronomy chapter 30 and we're going to start with verse 15. You got it Donna? Alright. Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 15. Verse 15. Alright Donna found it. Donna's got your mark there sir. I know you do. Alright. You just one armed bandit today. Our piano player has some work done on his arm right here so he's going to be a little bit more careful. Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 15. Here we go. Verse 15. That's where we're going to start off. Now remember I said we're all traveling the same road. It depends on which direction you choose to go. It's going to tell where you're going to end up. Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 15 he says, "See, I have set before thee this day life and good and death and evil." Same road. Same road. Verse 16 says, "In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments that thou mayest live and multiply. And the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it." Folks each and every one of us are going to end up in a land. You're going to end up somewhere depending upon which direction you go on that road. If you go down the road that the Lord's pointing you to go down, you're going to end up in the land that the Lord wants you to be in. Now if you go the opposite way, you're going to end up in a place that the Lord had created for the devil and his angels. The Lord did not create the place for you to go and be with the devil and his angels. He created that place for the devil and his angels, not you. But if you're going to be on that path, on that road, going towards the way the devil's going, you're going to end up in the place that the Lord prepared for the devil and his angels. Brother Adrian Rogers said, he said, "If you haven't met up with the devil yet, it's because you're on the same path. You're walking in the same direction as the devil." - He says in the law of verse 13, verse 13. And verse 13, verse 13 says, "But if thine heart turn away, "if that compass you have is pointing towards the Lord, "and you're walking towards the Lord, "but if all of a sudden you turn away from the Lord, "that needle in that compass is going to a what? "So that thou wilt not hear, "but shalt be drawn away, "and worship other gods and serve them, "I denounce unto you this day that ye shall surely perish, "and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land "whether thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, "that I have set before you life and death, "blessing and cursing." You see with life, folks, comes blessing. With death comes cursing. Now we're all, these old bodies, we're all gonna shed these old bodies someday. That's what the Bible calls the first death. But with the second death, that is where your spirit is gonna go be with the devil and his angels. That is what the Bible refers to as the second death. Folks, you don't have to die twice. We die once, and that's it. If your faith is in Jesus Christ, when Christ died on that cross, if you put your faith in Christ, God put you in Christ on that cross, folks. Christ was taken down off that cross, he was put in a tomb, and on the third day, he arose from that tomb, folks. If you put your faith in Jesus Christ, you're gonna rise someday and be with the Lord. One death, you don't have to suffer the second death. It's your choice. Which path down that road you wanna take? 3020 says that thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him, for he is thy life, and the length of thy days, that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Choose the right direction, folks. Choose the right direction. Isaiah 55, seven through eight says, let the wicked forsake his way, ha ha, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him. Folks, if you've stopped following the Lord, if you've turned from the Lord, turn back to the Lord, and he will have mercy upon you. He will have mercy. He says it right here. God says it, I believe it. Return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. He will abundantly pardon. That's more than enough. That's abundantly, abundantly. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways. My ways, saith the Lord. Psalm 16, 11 says, thou will show me the path of life. Thou will show me the road of life. Don't you wanna be on the road going the right direction? God will show you, and it's through Jesus Christ his son. At thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore, he says in Psalm 16, 11. Jude says back in our verse, that these ungodly men have gone in the way of Cain. Now we talked a little bit last week about Cain. Last week we learned that Cain was the firstborn of Adam and Eve. He killed his younger brother Abel, because God accepted Abel's offering, and not his. Abel brought to God what God required for his sins to be forgiven, and Cain did not. Cain brought of the fruit of the land. Abel brought the blood of the land. Hebrews 11 forces, by faith, Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous. God testifying of his gifts, and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Abel believed God, and brought to him what he requires for the forgiveness of sin, which was the shed blood of the lamb. This is a picture of the blood shed by Christ on the cross for hard sins. John 1 29 says the next day John said Jesus coming to him, talking about John the Baptist, and said, behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. Cain did not want to believe God, and brought what he wanted to bring, and he was turned away. And the Bible says in Genesis 4 five, but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect, and Cain was very wrong, and his countenance failed. The word countenance means face, as the part that turns. Cain had his compass pointing in the right direction, he came to God, but he brought the wrong sacrifice. And when God told him what to bring, Cain got mad, and his compass turned the opposite way. It says his countenance fell, his face turned from God, and he turned the other way. He went on to kill his brother, he killed his brother Abel, why? Because he was envious, he was jealous. He killed his own brother. But God knew about it, and we talked about that last week. Hello, Ms. Work. - He's been sick. - Has he been sick? Come on in, Ms. Work. - My mother showed up, and that's why I'm late. (students laughing) - Now we said the word countenance means face, as the part that turns. Because God would not accept his offering, Cain turned from God. Because God would not do it his way, he turned from God. Psalms 10 four says, "The wicked, "through the pride of his countenance, "will not seek after God." God is not in all of his thoughts. Cain knew the right way, but chose to turn from it. Cain was on the right road, shown which way to go, but chose to go the opposite direction, just like these ungodly men who Jude says, and ran greedily after the error. The word error comes from the Greek word planos. Planos, it is spelled P-L-A-N-O-S. And it gives us the idea of an imposter, or a misleader, a deceiver. Do y'all know anybody else that's called a deceiver in the Bible? - Satan. - Satan. - That's right, Satan. Satan is the deceiver. These ungodly men were not there for the purpose of caring for the flock. They were there to fatten up their bellies and their pocketbooks because our verse says, they have ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward. Now, there are so many verses about Balaam that I ran out of time, folks, I'll be honest with you, I ran out of time on Balaam. So in order to give it a proper and good study that I would like to before I stand up here before you and share that with you, I need a little bit more time to study out Balaam. There is in the book of Numbers, I mean, whole chapter devoted to Balaam. And he's all throughout the rest of the Bible too and other places. So I won't wait 'til next week to get into Balaam, but I ran out of time to get in the depth of the study that I wanna do on Balaam. So what I did get the reference on him to give y'all a little set up for next week, I believe from what I was looking at that he is someone who loved money. And God's word says in 1 Timothy 6 10, "For the love of money is the root of all evil." That's the love of money. It doesn't say money is the root of all evil. It says the love of money is the root of all evil. I hear people sometimes say money is the root of all evil. That's not true. That money, it just sits there. It's the person behind it that causes the sin. So the love of money is the root of all evil, which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. So what I wanna leave y'all with here today, Cain had a choice to make. As well as all these ungodly people that Jude is telling us about, they had a choice to make as well, folks. Now, just as I ran out of time to get more in depth on my lesson, I wish I had, if I didn't have to work, folks, I could stay, I could get in God's word and I could do some long time, which I would love to do. But there's so many things that take us away from what we would like to be doing. I ran out of time on my study. We're all gonna run out of time someday, just like Cain did, just like these ungodly men did. And which path you choose to be on on that road, if you're going this direction or if you're going that direction? Which direction you're going is going to determine where your spirit is going to go when our time here on this earth is gone. So I would advise you to choose wisely. The Bible says that the gospel of Jesus Christ is that Jesus died, he was buried, and on the third day he arose from that tomb. That is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible says, "He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." Put your faith, your hope, your trust, your belief, whatever you wanna call it, it's all the same word, meaning the same thing. In the life and the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, he died on a cross for your sins. Believe it, accept it, tell God, "I believe you, Lord. I know you sent your Son to die for my sins." Please don't let your pride stand in the way. Tell God you want to know it, I promise you, I promise you, he will draw you to that cross and he will show you. And if you don't know Christ as your savior, and you want to, please folks, if you need some help, please get with me. I'll spend as much time as we need to spend. We'll open up this together and we'll sit down and we'll let the Lord show you Jesus Christ. Don't put it off. You don't know how much time you have. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come to hear your word, Father. And Lord, I pray, Father, that your word just prick them in their hearts today, Lord. I pray, Lord, that you will draw them to the cross and show them Christ, Father. Draw the laws to Jesus here today, Lord, and show them Jesus. I pray that the saints were edified, Lord, and we thank you so much for your precious word, Lord, for we know that it's through your word that people are singing, Father. Thank you, God, so much for your word. What a blessing. We just thank you and love you, Lord, and we pray for the help of these people here today, pray your will is done in their lives. And we pray, Lord, that if they're off the pass, if their compass is pointing them in the wrong direction, Lord, we pray, Lord, that you would just draw that pointer back to you, Father, that they would turn and come back to you, Lord, and seek your face, Lord, while there's still time. Thank you, Lord, for all that you do. We thank you for the caregivers of here, Lord, that helped take care of these people, Lord, and we're just so thankful for the faithful ones that come to hear your word, Lord. We thank you and love you, Father. We thank you for Brother Larry and his wife coming back and helping us with the song of the evening, Lord, and we sure miss them within eight years, Lord. What a blessing they are to come, Lord. We just thank you so much for all that you do, Father, for all you do is good, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray here today, Lord. Amen.
