Alright, hello everybody. Hello. Hope y'all had a wonderful week. Hey, did y'all enjoy the Tuesday service? Yeah. Did y'all enjoy the Tuesday service? I did too, that was fun. I enjoyed that a whole lot. I'm glad y'all came. That was really fun. Let me get a shot of this water juice here and we'll get started. I got some of my boys back. Alright, we're going to be in the book of Jude. Everybody should be here in Jude. Oh, let me do this before we get going or I'll forget. I can hear my camera lady screaming at me right now from the house probably. Alright, how we looking there, Sister Sherry? I'm watching myself. This is going to be our verses today in case I say something and y'all don't hear me and you won't go back later and check them out. This is going to be all the verses that we're covering today unless God just puts one in my mind all of a sudden. Now you got it, the bottom one's there. I was out in the parking lot looking over my lesson and a couple more occurred to me. So that's why they're kind of out of order. But, that's when things happen. So that's the verses we're going to be going over today. Alright, so last week we finished up verse 11 in the book of Jude. So today we're going to start in verse 12 in the book of Jude where Jude says in verse 12 in the book of Jude, "These are spots in your feast of charity when they feast with you feeding themselves without fear. Clouds they are without water carried about of winds. Trees whose fruit wither without fruit flies dead plucked up by the roots." Let's pray. Heavenly Father we thank you so much Lord for your word Lord. We thank you for this lesson that you blessed me with to share with the people that come to hear it Father. And Lord we pray that you're glorified here today through your word Father. Just teach through you Lord. We just want everybody to learn Lord and Father we just pray that they learn today Father. We pray that you remove the distractions Lord and help us just to focus on your word Lord. We thank you and love you Father. Thank you for your word. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. Okay, so he says, "These are spots in your feast of charity." The word spots comes from the Greek word spelos. Spelos. In the Greek it is spelled S-P-I-L-A-S. Excuse me. Used here the meaning of the word spots is a ledge or reef of rock in the sea. This is the only place in God's word where I found the word spots to have this definition. Jude has been comparing the ungodly to many different people so far. Alright, that's okay. That's alright. Sorry about that. Okay, so this is the only place in God's word where I found the word spots to have this definition. The word spots or spot or spot head is used in different places of the Bible, but it does not have the same definition as it does right here. Jude has been comparing the ungodly to many different people so far. And now he's going to give us a comparison of the ungodly to things of nature. Jude says that these ungodly men who have crept in unawares are spots or a ledge or reef of rock in the sea. Now in those days they did not have engines to power their boats. They did not have a bunch of fancy navigational equipment and sonar and radar to help them navigate the sea. They had experienced sailors and the light of the moon when it wasn't covered by the clouds. When the winds would get to whooping on the water and the waves would get to rolling and tossing their boat to and fro, the sailor did not want to look up and see a ledge of rock or a reef nearby. Why? Because he did not want his boat to wind up on that reef and be destroyed. Jude says these ungodly men are spots in your Feast of Charity. I could not find a celebration called the Feast of Charity. I found what one definition of it was, but they did not give me any Bible scripture to back it up. So I try not to lean on any definition that does not include Biblical scripture to back up what it's saying. I can tell you that the words Feast of Charity are translated from only one word from the Greek. These three words in English translate to one word in the Greek, which is the word agape. Agape. It is spelled A-G-A-P-E in the Greek and it means Feast of Charity or Love. Affection or benevolence. Jude goes on to say when they feast with you. When they feast with, when they feast with, that is also translated from one Greek word. That means to entertain suppuously or costly, in company with. So from what I understand here, when the brethren or those who have believed what God says is truth come together to break bread or whatever the case may be that is costly and we all know food is not cheap, so that is just my guess. The ungodly who had crept in unawares would show up and mingle in right among them. So when the brethren were getting together to break bread, the ungodly would come right in there with them. Jude compares them, the ungodly, to spots who were very dangerous to their ship. A ledge or reef of rock in the sea who pose a threat to their ability to keep their ship on course. Jude is telling us to steer clear of these people. Romans 12 9 says, "Let love be without dissimulation." He says, "Abhor that which is evil. Cleave to that which is good." The word dissimulation means hypocrisy. Hypocrisy. These ungodly were not coming to enjoy the fellowship and love with God's people because they did not know love. 1 John 4 says, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God." 4 H says, "He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is love." These ungodly did not know God. How could they have known love? So when they come together with the godly for their feast of charity, they had no charity. They had no love. They did not know God. So they were coming just to gorge themselves and to spread their lies. These ungodly were just coming to get their bellies full and spread their lies among the brethren. They want to reap the benefits of knowing God without ever believing God, and that's a shame. They want what Christians have, but they don't want to go to God and ask. They want to do it their way, and that will not work as we read with Cain, Balaam, and Korah in our previous verse, in verse 11. They wanted to do it their way, not God's way. Paul said, "Abhor that which is evil." This word abhor means to dislike intensely, to denounce, to testify against. If you were a sailor on a ship in the sea, and all of a sudden you saw a ledge or reef of rocks sticking up out of the water, out of the sea, and it was in your path, what would you do? You would steer your ship away from the ledge or reef of rock, wouldn't you? That is what Jude is telling us here. Steer away from the spots. Those who only come around to get their bellies filled and not their hearts, steer away from. Those who only come around to cause division and not edification of the saints, steer away from. Abhor that which is evil. On the other hand, Paul says cleave to that which is good. The word cleave comes from the Greek kolayo. It is spelled k-o-l-l-a-o, and it means to glue, to stick. Deuteronomy 10-20 says, "Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave and swear by his name." 1 Peter 3.10 says, "For he that will love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile." The word guile means decoy, a trick. Decoy or a trick. 1 Peter 3.11 says, "Let him eschew evil and do good. Let him seek peace and ensue it." Eshue means to shun, decline, or avoid. Ensu means follow after or press towards. These ungodly, they were showing a trick. They were pulling a trick. When they come in amongst the godly to eat, they were doing it, they were showing guile. It says that we are to eschew evil, to shun it or decline. So the godly need to eschew the ungodly. They need to avoid it. Ensu means to follow after or press towards peace. Now don't get me wrong here folks, I'm not saying that the ungodly should not come to church. The ungodly need to come to church. I was ungodly before I believed in Jesus Christ as my savior. I was ungodly before I came to church and learned of how to be saved. And learned, and now I just want to learn more and more. "Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you," the book of James says. So I'm not saying that just because the ungodly come to church we should eschew them or avoid them. They should come to church with an open mind and they should come to church seeking the Lord. Seek ye first the kingdom of God at his righteousness, what the Bible says. But when they come to church and they start doing vain battlings, pointing people away from God. That is when they need to get gone. 1 Peter 3-12 says, "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and his ears are open unto their prayers. But the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." The face of the Lord is against those who do evil. Back in our verse, Jews says, "Feeding themselves without fear." And we're going to wrap it up here after this folks. Feeding themselves without fear. The word feeding used here means to tend as a shepherd. To tend as a shepherd. Now what does a good shepherd do? He tends to the flock and makes sure they get fed good food. Good food. Folks, pastor, he calls this sheep food right here. This is sheep food folks. Good food. Good food. A good shepherd does not want his flock to go and eat poisonous food. Because his flock would die. These ungodly men who had crept in unawares did not care about the flock. Therefore, they were feeding them poisonous food. They were telling them things that was against God's word. They just came for the groceries. They didn't come to help the flock. Therefore, they were unawares. They did not care about the flock. Therefore, they were feeding them poisonous food. But the words they were telling them, "A good shepherd will feed you God's words." So the bad words that the ungodly were telling them were poisonous. They were pointing this flock to a poisonous food which will get them killed. The ungodly were denying Christ. They were pointing them to the lascivious and lustful things that we read in the previous verses. They were not pointing them to Christ. Christ dying on the cross from their sins. Acts 20 verse 28. Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers to feed the church of God which he had purchased with his own blood. This is talking about how Christ bought, paid for the church through his blood. The ungodly will not tell you that. If you all want to turn to 1 Peter 5, too, we're going to wrap this up. We're going to write 1 Peter 5, too. We've got some art. You're already there. The part up there, Thomas. 1 Peter 5, too. This works is already there. Good deal. You all ready? 1 Peter 5, too. We're going to wrap it up. 5, 2 through 4. Peter says, "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly, not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind." These ungodly, they crept in unawares. They had come for the food and they wanted to get paid. They come for the filthy lucre. Verse 3 says, "Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being in samples to the flock." They did not want to serve. They wanted to be over the flock. Verse 4, "And when the chief shepherd shall appear," you all know who the chief shepherd is? That's Jesus Christ. That's good. I see Ed saying it. "And when the chief shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that failed, not away." Amen. We're closing prayer. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for your word, Lord. Father, we just pray, Lord, that things pointed to you here today, Father. We just want to learn, Lord. Father, we just thank you for each and every person that's come today to hear your word, Father, and I pray that the saints were edified and the lost were born unto you, Father. Lord, we just thank you so much, Lord, for all that you do. All you do is good, Father. Lord, we just thank you for the people that have come, Lord. We pray, Lord, for the caregivers that are here, Father, and they would just help these people and let us. Lord, we just pray that you would let them know that they're not alone. We thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
