Episode Transcript
All right, good afternoon everybody.
What a great looking bunch of group of people here today.
Hello everybody, this is gonna be our company versus here.
The camera lady's not telling me nothing, so now I got a thumbs up.
All right, but anyway, this versus will be accompanying us today as we venture continually down the book of Jude here.
So here we go.
Wasn't that singing fun?
That's fun, ain't it, boy?
We thank you so much, dear brother, for leading us to sing that.
That was wonderful.
That is fun.
I enjoyed that.
I did, too.
Good, good, good.
All because we do not carry everything to the Lord in prayer. - I pray in my here at this place and I'll tell you what, I wouldn't trade this time that I had with y'all for anything that I could think of.
It's such a blessing to come and have each and every one of y'all come, it's an encouragement to me.
And I want you to know that y'all are an encouragement.
When I pray in the mornings, I pray for each and every one of y'all, my wife and I do, and we thank God so much for the encouragement that y'all bless us with.
Thank y'all for coming so fast. - You're welcome. - Like I said, we're running a little bit behind this morning, and I didn't get time to make all the tabs and everything like that.
I usually make a tab and I mark your Bibles for you.
But it's gonna be pretty simple today to find the ones that I would like for y'all to turn to.
So with that said, when we get there, I'll have you turn to them.
It won't take us, hopefully, too long to get there.
Anyway, let's get started here.
I teach verse by verse.
And right now we are in the book of Jude, and we go verse by verse in the book of Jude.
And last week, we stopped at the word deeds.
We stopped at the word deeds in verse 15 in the book of Jude.
But to help us stay in context, we're gonna go back and read verse 14 down through 15, and that'll help keep us in context, and then we'll go back and we'll talk about I'm going to work deeds a little bit before we start on, move on.
In the book of Jude, verse 14, Jude says, "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, 'Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints to execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank You so much, Lord, for this man to step up and lead the songs for us, Lord.
That's such a blessing, Father.
And Lord, we thank you for each and every person that's come to hear your word today, Father.
We thank you for your precious word that you bless us with, Lord.
We thank you for Jesus, and we thank you for your Holy Spirit, Father.
And we pray, Lord, that you would just let your spirit teach us here today now.
Teach us your word, Father, and help us to understand, Lord.
We thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with here today, Lord.
I pray Lord that you are glorified here today with it, Lord.
We thank you and we love you Lord so much.
In Jesus' name we pray, amen. - Amen. - Amen. - All right, so he says here in verse 15, to execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds.
Now last week we stopped at this word deeds.
The word "deeds" is translated from the Greek word "ergon" and means "to work" or "toil."
It gives us the idea of our acts or deeds.
Sometimes when people are driving and there is a really long line of cars waiting at a red light, there is sometimes that one car waiting at a red, oh, I'm sorry, sometimes that one car waiting to cross that line of cars in order to get across the line of traffic.
I don't know if y'all have ever seen it before.
I'm sure you have in your times back when you drove.
There would be a line of cars and you, seems like there's usually this one person over here on the other side wanting to cross that line of cars in order to get to their destination.
You've seen that.
Yes, I have too.
Instead of waiting until the traffic thins out enough for that car to turn, someone will usually stop the waiting traffic by refusing to go when the light turns green and blocks the road for all the people behind and allows that one car to pass through the traffic.
So you have the light turns green, and this one person keeps all these other people back here blocked, not allowing them to go.
They block all the car behind them in order to let this one person cross over the lane there so they can get to where they're going.
Meanwhile, these other people behind them, yeah, they're waiting.
Not all, you must have been in that situation before.
We had.
The person who stopped all the people from continuing on their journey in order to let that one car pass through the line thinks they have done their good deed for the day.
That was their act.
They acted, they think they're doing a good deed by stopping all these other people and letting this one person through the line to go where they're going.
My son, my wife, and my grandbaby, you know where I'm going with this, and myself were coming back from my mother-in-law's years ago.
And this very scenario took place.
There was a long line of four-lane traffic.
We had two lanes going this way, two lanes going this way, had a median in the middle, and there's a turn lane over here.
You got two lanes of the turn lane.
This very scenario happened.
There was a long line of four lane traffic, and we were going down the right turn lane.
My wife and I, my grandbaby, my son.
We were going down the right turn lane in order to turn right.
And out of nowhere, a car crossed three lanes of traffic because the people in front had stopped and opened up a pathway thinking they were doing a good deed by letting this person cross three lanes of traffic.
This person who was allowed to cross the three lanes of traffic pulled right out in front of us and we collided with the side of his car.
So they stopped traffic over here, let the man come across all the way over the lanes of traffic, and we're coming on down the right, right on the hand lane, fixing to take a right, and they let him, they opened it up and let him come across all traffic.
When he did, boom, he plowed right into the side of it.
Or maybe a little bit towards the front, wasn't it, in front of his car.
Now, these people who allowed this one driver to cross three lanes of traffic probably meant well.
They might have been proud of themselves for doing their good deed for the day.
But their good deed turned into the poor man who was allowed to cross the lines of traffic and my family's accident.
And thank God none of us were killed that day.
I can't help but wonder what went through their minds about their good deed after they saw the wreck and left the scene of the accident that they helped in creating by their good deed.
What you think is a good deed may not be a good deed at all.
And we will all have a judge someday tell us about our deeds.
Matthew 5, 16 says, "Let your light so shine before men "that they may see your good works "and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
The word works, used here in Matthew 5, 16, It's the same Greek word "ergon" that is used for the word "deeds" back in Jude, verse 15.
Matthew says, "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
What kind of works?
Good works.
"Only good works glorify our Father in heaven."
Only good works glorify our Father in heaven.
The word good, and I love this, the word good is translated from the Greek word kalos, K-A-L-O, kalos.
And it means beautiful, beautiful.
Who would ever thought the word good meant beautiful?
Beautiful.
Have you ever heard the old saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
That's right.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
In this case, folks, the one who is beholding all your works, or as Jude says, deeds, is going to be the same one who died for your deeds.
Matthew says in 516, or Jesus says in 516 of Matthew, "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
If you have not believed that Christ died for your sins, you do not have good works. and you are not glorifying your Father in heaven.
Why do you say that brother Doug?
Because you have not received the light that makes you shine and you are not walking in fellowship with the Father.
First John 1-3 says, "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you that ye also may have fellowship with us And truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
That word fellowship translates into the word partnership.
Partnership.
And these things write we unto you that your joy may be full.
I like the way joy and fellowship with the Father and Christ are mentioned here together.
Joy and fellowship with the Father and Christ.
Woo!
That's good.
I'm always saying, well, I've said it once, I'll say it again.
There is no greater joy than salvation joy. - Amen. - There is no greater joy in knowing that you're saved and knowing when you lay down your head at night to sleep, if you don't wake up, you know where you're gonna be when you do wake up.
There's no greater joy than that.
No greater joy than knowing all your sins are forgiven.
No greater joy.
When I first got saved on the very first night, I was happy.
I asked the pastor, the man that opened up God's words to me, he took this book and he sat down with me and my wife, my wife was there too.
He sat down with us and we went through God's Word.
God opened the light.
He turned the light on for me and that light shined in me.
Folks I just want to share that light with each and every one of you.
When you have the light of Christ in you folks, you want to share it.
You want to share it.
I asked the pastor on the way out when we was walking out, I said, "Pastor, is it okay if I holler?"
He said, "You just go right ahead."
And I jumped up in there and I give the biggest woohoo I've ever given in my life.
No greater joy than knowing Christ is your Savior, folks.
He said, "We're going in 1 John 1, 5.
"This then is the message which we have heard of him "and declare unto you, that God is light, And in Him is no darkness at all.
Folks, you're not going to have darkness and a little bit of light.
If you have light, it takes care of the darkness.
There's no darkness there if you have light.
You can't have both light and darkness.
The pastor was talking about this morning in church about how the world, how America has allowed all these other religions to come in here.
What fellowship does Christ have with Belial?
That's right, none.
We've allowed all these other beliefs to mingle in with us now.
We've become accepting.
That's not what God says to do.
God says come out from among them.
Be ye separate for I am holy the Lord says and ye should be holy.
God has severed us from that.
Don't mingle in with all that. is light and in him is no darkness at all.
The gospel, the word of the Savior.
If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.
That's not Brother Doug.
That's God's Word right there, folks.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another.
We are partnered with Christ.
We are partnered.
God looked down on Christ and he said, "This is my beloved Son, hear Him."
And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.
The ungodly do not have that.
They are not cleansed from all their sins. they're still walking in their sins.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Not just a teeny, weeny little bit.
All your unrighteousness.
Through the blood of Christ.
The blood of Christ is thick enough to cover all your sins.
It covers all of them and I praise God for that.
Thank you Lord because this man right here had plenty of it.
And I'm not perfect, I still have sins, but each and every one of them are covered by that blood.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.
What is the word?
Something said in this case right here.
Something said.
What is it that is said that is not in us?
The gospel of Jesus Christ.
Folks, Jesus Christ died for your sins.
He went to a tomb after his death and on the third day he was raised from the dead from that tomb Overcoming death for you for the people who believe amen sister.
Yes, ma'am.
That's right He'll come death for each and every person that will believe That's the gospel of Jesus Christ, that's it "He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already."
Why?
Because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
That's God's Word too.
Amen.
1 John 1.10 "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.
God came to die for each and every person's sins. - Yes he did. - Everybody's sins.
Not just Brother Doug. - That's right. - Not just the camera lady.
Everybody's sins.
He came to die for everybody's sins.
Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.
Denying ungodliness.
Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearance of the great God and our savior, Jesus Christ.
The ungodly are not looking for the appearing of Jesus Christ, darlin'.
They are dreading that day.
The people with ungodly deeds that have not been forgiven are dreading the return of Christ.
There is no place that they are going to be able to hide when Christ comes back.
They've had all this time to accept Christ as their Savior and they deny it. not putting their faith in Christ and they don't look forward to the day when he returns.
Titus 2.14 says, "Who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity."
That's all you should have folks.
"He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people."
The word procurer means special, special people.
We are all born the same in Adam.
We are born in sin.
When we accept Christ as our Savior we become special people.
We become the children of God.
When you put your faith in Christ you become a child of God.
Don't let people tell you, "Oh, we're all children of God."
No, we're not.
We are all creations of God.
You're not a child of God until you put your faith in Christ as your Savior.
We are all born into sin.
He says zealous of good works, desire of good works.
Once you put your faith in Christ, you want to do good works, folks.
You're not saved by your good works, but once you believe on Christ, woo, I wanna do good works.
I wanna do good works for my Father who art in heaven.
John 8, 12, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, "saying, I am the light of the world."
There's that light, folks, that the ungodly do not have.
Jesus.
Jesus says, "I am the light of the world.
He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
If you have not trusted in Christ as your Savior, you are still walking in darkness.
And all your deeds are still in the dark.
Ungodly deeds.
As we start closing here, people.
But God sees in the dark.
Don't think just because your ungodly deeds are done in the dark that God's not going to see you.
God sees in the dark, folks.
Job 34, 21, "For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings."
There is no darkness nor shadow of death where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
Folks, just don't be thinking now, "Well, I got by with it, and now I'm dying, and I got by with it."
No.
God's going to get you.
You're going to be judged even in death, folks.
There is no darkness nor shadow of death where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
No place to hide.
For he will not lay upon man more than right.
God's not unfair.
God's judgments are not unfair, folks, that he should enter into judgment with God.
He shall break in pieces mighty men without number and set others in their stead.
Therefore he knoweth their works, or you could say, what's another word for works?
Deeds or acts that's right.
Therefore he knoweth their works and he overturneth them in the night so that they are destroyed.
He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others, because, here's why, they turned back from him and would not consider any of his ways.
They denied God.
They heard the gospel.
They heard about Jesus Christ, and they turned their back on that.
I don't need that, Lord.
Thank you, though.
I'm fine, just like I am.
Thank you Lord.
They turned their back from him and would not consider of his ways.
God is the one that gives us life.
God is the one that gives us breath.
God is the one that makes sure we are fed and clothed and housed.
God blesses us with food and rain.
And yet people wanna just deny him.
They deny God the Father.
They're creative.
They deny you.
They too busy out doing other things, playing golf, fishing, soccer games, whatever they're doing.
They're too busy to hear God's Word.
Too busy.
I've had people tell me, "Well, Doug, it don't say nothing in the Bible "about I need to go to church, "or I have to go to church."
That's wrong.
It does too. not forsaking the fellowship of thyself with others, fellow believers.
That's not exact terminology, but I can look it up in anybody.
It does say that, too. - It's simple. - Yes, sir, it's simple.
It's in there.
I guarantee you to it.
As we wrap up here, folks, Jude says back in our verse that the Lord is coming back to execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds, which they have ungodly committed.
We are all guilty of ungodly deeds, which we have ungodly committed.
But there is forgiveness for each and every one of them, and you can find that forgiveness through the death of Christ, folks.
The choice is yours to make.
If Brother Doug could make it for you, I would.
But you have to make the decision yourself.
And the day's coming faster and faster and faster.
And if we're running out of time to make that decision, I hope each and every one of y'all are saving me.
I really do.
But if you're not, and you want to know Christ is your Savior.
We will open up this book right here, this thing that was done for me.
I will do for anybody else who wants to know God, Christ is your Savior.
I will sit down with you, and we will open this up.
And if you truly want to know Christ is your Savior, I can promise you God will open your eyes to the death of his precious Son on the cross for your sins.
If he'll do it for this old man, I promise you he'll do it for you.
>> Amen.
>> Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come here today to hear your word, Father.
I pray that you are glorified here, Lord, today, and that the saints were edified, and that the laws were appointed to Christ, Father.
Lord, we pray your will be done in each and We thank you Lord for your perfect will Lord and we pray your will be done on this earth as it is in heaven Father.
Lord we look for the coming of Jesus Lord.
Father we just look for the day Lord when we're not living in a sin filled world no more Lord.
And that we're living with you Father.
We know Lord that you'll wipe away every tear Father and you'll make everything right. right.
We thank you and we love you Father.
Lord we want to pray for those who are recovering from surgeries that are here Lord.
We pray for those who are sick here Father and we pray for the ones that are caregivers here that they would take care of these people Lord like you would want them to be taken care of.
Lord we pray that you'll let each and every person here know Lord that you're with them, Father, and that they're not alone in this time, Lord, in their lives.
We thank you, Lord, and we love you, Lord.
We thank you for Jesus and your Holy Spirit, and we thank you for your precious Word, Father.
In Jesus' name, Lord, we pray, amen.
Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
