Alright, hello everybody out there on Video Land. Here's some accompanying verses to go with our uh lesson today Yeah. And uh if y'all care to look back at those, there we go. For those who have brought a Bible, I've tried to pass each and every one I'll give y'all one. Now if you're here today and you need a Bible, you don't have a Bible, you let the camera lady know or let myself know and If you promise you'll read it, guess what? You're going to get it by God. We're going to give you one. Don't you worry about it it's free of charge, okay? But I want you to promise me that you're gonna read it because if I give it to you and you don't read it, it's just taken away from somebody else who could have used it and they would have read it So if you need a Bible, you let one of us know. Or you can let Brother Larry know, he'll let us know. Or Sister Sherry. Brother Ray, somebody, let somebody know. And I promise you we'll do our best to get you Okay, with that said, good afternoon everyone. What a blessing it is to see each and every one of y'all. And this is just God is so good folks. Yes he gets all the time when you think when things are going bad for you always remember God is so good still. Even when times are tough and trying and you're going through things, God is still good. He'll never leave you nor forsake you. Amen. And he does not change. So always remember, God is still good no matter what you're going through. Okay. Now, with that said, we have been going through the book of Jude. Verse by verse, and for those of y'all that haven't met me yet, my name's Doug Sexton. I'm the pastor here. And uh we go verse by verse. We'll pick a chapter, we go verse by verse through that chapter. That is the best way to learn your Bible. This is how I've been taught. God's word. And I'll tell you what, it just, it's, we want you to leave here annoying more than when you came in. That's how we learn. That's how we learn and that's what we want to do. The more we can learn of God's word, the closer we draw to God. We get closer to God through his word. We have been going through the book of Jude, verse by verse, and last week we left off in verse 22, expounding on the word mercy, which gives us the idea of compassion. And compassion means sympathy or pity. So let's read verse 20 through 22 in the book of Jude to get us started and to help us stand the context of what we're talking about today. Jude says in verse 20, but ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference. Last week, oh Heavenly Father, thank you, God, so much for another day, Lord. We sure thank you, Lord, for all those that have come today to hear your word, Father. Lord, we pray that You are just glorified here today and that this message just points people to you, Father. We pray for the the saints. We pray that they're edified here today, and we want to pray for the lost Father That you'll draw them to the cross, Lord, and show them Christ here today, Father. Work, work, work, work here, Lord. Just work through your servant here, Father. I pray, Lord, that your Holy Ghost will just teach us here today, Lord. Thank you for all that you do, Lord. For all you do is good, Father. And we thank you and love you, Lord. And in Jesus' name we pray here today, Lord. Amen. Amen. Now Last week we discussed the fall of Lucifer and the fall of man. Our God, the Lord Almighty, is omniscient. Which means all knowing or knows everything. You can feed all the information that mankind knows into all the AI computers there will ever be, and it still won't match the intelligence of our God. You cannot teach God anything. He knows everything. And frankly, I would not want to serve a God who was surprised by something that he did not know. Oh, I didn't know that. Not my God, folks. My God knows everything. We should be seeking our learning from the Lord, especially if you need to be taught about mercy. To me, it just makes sense. If you want to know something, why not ask the one who knows everything? Psalms 25-1. And we've got y'all marked there, Miss Becky. John, we've got you marked with Psalms 25-1. For those of y'all that brought a Bible, I tried to mark them ahead of time. That way you just go to your tab. Twenty of Psalms. 25-1. We'll try to have everybody's eyes on the Word of God. A Psalm of David. David says, this is King David, by the way. Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Oh my God, I trust in thee. Let me not be ashamed. Let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed. Let them be ashamed, which transgress without cause. Show me thy ways, O Lord. Teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth and teach me. Now folks, the only way God is going to lead you and teach you is if you're following him. If you're not following the good Lord, folks, you're on the same path as the devil. There ain't no in-betweens. They ain't no, well, I'll just stand here right here in the middle and I ain't gonna follow either one folks. If you ain't following the Lord, you're following the devil. It's that simple There's no midstream there. There's a road that comes together to form a path. Now on that path, you either go one way or you going the other way. One way goes to the kingdom of God, the other way goes to the kingdom of hell. You going one way or the other. You're going one way or the other. Now the only ways you're going to be shown the ways of God and taught God and taught the ways of God is to get on God's path and follow after God. Follow after righteousness He says, lead me in thy truth and teach me. For thou art the God of my salvation. On thee do I wait all the day. Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy loving kindness, for they have been ever of old. Now remember what we've been talking about, the word mercy, compassion. Remember not the sins of my youth. Nor my transgressions. Now folks, if you can sit here and say you never sinned in your youth, congratulations. You're perfect like Jesus. You're the only woman. But I can promise you, yeah, you're I can promise you each and every one of us in this room, each and every one of us that's out there watching in video land has sinned. There's not one of us ever that's never sinned apart from Jesus Christ that's been on walk this way Jesus Christ is the only one. He is the only perfect one. He is your sacrifice Remember not the sins of my youth nor my transgressions according to thy mercy Remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord. Good and upright is the Lord. Therefore will he teach sinners in the way. What way is that? That's God's way. God's path. The meek will he guide in judgment, and the meek will he teach his way. Who are the meek? The meek are those. The meek are those who know that they are sinners. Lost. The lost are the meek. The meek are those who admit that they have sinned. They have humbled themselves and they come to God. The meek are not stiff-necked. When God is trying to draw you and you just be stiff-necked to him, you say, no, I don't want none of that, Lord. No, thank you. Meat is pliable. Oh, oh, that neck can bend. It's not stiff neck no more. It's pliable. Yes, Lord, I hear you. Gotcha Lord. Yes, sir. That's meek. Listening to the Lord is meek. Letting the Lord teach you is meek. Meek. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. Who kept all of God's covenant? Who kept all of God's testimonies? Who kept all of God's laws? It wasn't none of us. Jesus. Jesus. Right, Jesus. Jesus satisfies all of God's covenants. Jesus satisfies all of God's laws. Jesus. Jesus, my Savior, Jesus, the Son of God who died on the cross and shed his blood in your place. He took the wrath of God so you don't have to. Jesus. Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves Not of works lest any man should boast. Jesus, that Jesus. For thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity, for it is great. What man is he that feareth the Lord? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. Amen. His soul shall dwell at ease. Oh, and it does. And his seed shall inherit the earth. He's not talking about this old sin-filled earth we have right now, folks. He's talking about a new heaven and a new earth. Amen. The meek shall inherit the earth earth, the ones with the pliable neck that listen to God, that come to God, that believe in His Son. He that believeth on him is not condemned. But he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son. Pliable, believing. We're not born into this world believing. We have to be pliable When God starts drawing, when God starts tugging, you have to be pliable. Don't ignore the tug of God, Father. When he starts drawing you to the cross of Christ, go to it. Don't say, well, in my pride, I don't need that. Put your pride aside. I did. And I want to tell you I've been happier ever since. Have I gone through trials? You betcha I have. Have I had hard times? You betcha I have. Just because I put my faith in Jesus Christ don't mean that all my trials went away. And all my tribulations went away. I still live in this old sin-filled world, just like each and every one of y'all do. And I still have troubles. Just like we all do. But you know what? I have come to the conclusion that God's will be done. Lord, I don't know what you want to teach me here, Lord, but I pray that you show me. I want to learn what you're trying to teach me, Lord. I want to learn. I'm going through this for a purpose. God is shaping each and every one of us in the image of His Son. His Son was perfect, right? God is trying to show us where we need a little bit of cutting here, a little cutting off of here, a little shaving, some printing. There you go. That's right. Proved it. And he's trimming those rough edges off our branches. One man is he that feareth the Lord? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease. And his seed shall inherit the earth. Why does his soul dwell at ease? Because he knows that when he leaves this old body, he knows where his soul's going to be. If you're laying your head down at night, folks, to go to sleep and you have troubles going on there and you're worried about something Your soul's not at ease. Do you ever sit there and worry about, hey, am I saved? Do I know where I'm going? Because one of these days, them old eyes is going to shut. And they're not going to open again this eye of glory. When those eyes don't open again, do you ever think about that? I don't have to think about it no more. Because I know where my is gonna be. I'm gonna be with the Lord. And you can too. His soul shall dwell at ease. Man asked me the other day at work. I was at work. And if at my job you have a lot of people walking around, be walking around Oh Yeah. You ever work with people like that? Yes. I got a lot of them up where I work. A lot of stress up there. Have you ever been under stress at work? Up where I work, there's a lot of them. Got a lot of disheartened people. Broke looking and you know what every morning I'll see them all passing in the hallway say good morning how you doing Everybody I see, good morning. And some of them it just about breaks their neck to lift it up and say, yeah, good morning. But you know some of them, good morning, good morning. They're excited. to have somebody tell them good morning and to greet him and be friendly. I had a man tell me. He came up to me last week something, this is a true story. He said, Doug, can I ask you a question? I said, you sure can. He said it's kind of personal Go for it. He said, what kind of medication are you on? That's true. That's true for it. He said, what kind of medication are you on? I started laughing. I said, sir, I don't take nothing. I might take a vitamin every now and then. Maybe a vitamin D. I work inside. I don't get as much sun as I'd like to I said, I don't think nothing. He said, Well, if you're not on no medication, he said, how is it that you're so happy all the time? He said, I'd like to know the secret. This is a true story. And I looked at him and I said, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ changed my life. Amen. And he thought a minute kind of shook his head. He said, oh, okay. And he turned around and he looked a little dumbfounded as he left. Now you know what? I planted that seed right there. God used me to plant a seed right there. there. And you know what? I hope he comes back up for me again. And he says, Doug, I'd like to know a little more about Jesus Christ. I'd like to know a little more about how to be happy all the time. Amen. Do I have my downtime? You betcha I do. I'm still stuck in this whole body. But you know what? Inside my soul and spirit you're just doing the woo-hoo. It is My soul is just as tickled as it could be. You know why? Because I know my sins are forgiven. Amen. I know where I'm going when I lay my head down for the last time. I know where I'll be waking up The Bible says to be absent from the bodies, be present with the Lord. Now you either believe that or you don't. Now I'm going to tell you You either believe it or you don't. If you want to be happy, Jesus Christ. You want to know you're saved, Jesus Christ. You want to know where you're going when you die, Jesus Christ. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Woo! The Old Testament points us to the New Testament, which is Jesus Christ. And the Jesus will point you right back to the Old Testament. Did not the prophets say. That's what I want to try to do and I'm thinking about once we're about done with you and I'll I think I'm gonna we'll see. I ain't 100% sure yet, but I've been praying about it and want the good Lord to show me Where he wants me to go next, God willing, I'll live that long. I got a birthday coming up this week. Good Lord willing, I'm gonna see it. You know, but if I don't Jesus Christ, I'll be with the Lord, you know. So I I'd like to get into the Old Testament a little more and study that a little bit more and share that with you more. The Old Testament points you to the New Testament And I would like to be a vessel for the Lord to do that. Just point people to the New Testament through the Old Testament. It's a lot of foreshadowing. A lot of revelation, a lot of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. People say, oh, it don't say nothing about Jesus Christ. Oh yes it does. I guarantee you it does. It's all about Jesus Christ You got the Old Testament, you got the New Testament, you put them together, and guess what? You got a book. You got a book. God give us the Old Testament and the New Testament to be read together. And I feel bad for people who say, well, I'm just going to stay in the New Testament. I had one lady tell me she didn't believe in the Old Testament because it's Hebrew myth. I said, ah, that's strange. I said, okay, thank you. Give me my pearls back. Casting my pearls before the wine, the Bible says, y'all, y'all. That's what the Bible says, you know. Anyway, let's get through this digression. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him. Whoo, you know Jesus Christ, you got the secret of the Lord. He will show them his covenant. Mine eyes are ever towards the Lord, for he shall pluck my feet out of the net. Turn thee unto me and have mercy upon me, for I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged. O bring thou me out of my distresses. Look upon mine affliction and my pain and forgive all my sins. Consider mine enemies for they are many and they hate me with cruel hatred. The devil don't love you, folks. Don't never fall for that trick. The devil does not love you. He hates you. Oh, keep my soul and deliver me, let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in thee. We're going to get to it here in a second, but right there's a good spot to point you to back to the Old Testament. Adam and Eve, when they were first created by God. They were naked and not ashamed. And we're going to get to that in a minute. All of these words were given to King David by the omniscient Lord in order to be given to us to learn from. I am convinced that if you want to know something, if you will seek our all-knowing God first, if it is in His will for you to know. He will make sure you get the answers to the questions you are seeking. And I can guarantee you, if you are truly seeking to be saved from your sins, our Lord will show you. Isaiah 45, 22 says, look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. That's everything. For I am God and there is none else. Our Lord is omniscient and he knows who is going to trust in his only Son as their Savior, and He knows who will not. He knows who will accept his mercy and who will not. Our Lord knew that Satan would not. Therefore, he and all those who follow him are condemned to a lake of fire. In the Garden of Eden when mankind fell, God knew that Adam and Eve would accept his mercy. I believe Adam and Eve understood that they had sinned against God and they were so ashamed of their mistake. That's why they went and hid themselves. Before they sinned, they were not ashamed. The Bible says in Genesis 2. 25, and they were both naked. the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. After they ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, They knew they had done evil by disobeying God who told them not to eat of it And they ran and hid themselves from an all-knowing God who knew already what they had done and already had a plan for them because he knew That they would regret what they had done and come to him eventually after he calls for them. God had the patience to wait for them to come to him. And I cannot express to you enough how grateful I am to God for waiting for me. And if you haven't sought our all-knowing God yet, you are running out of time. He did not wait for Adam and Eve to come out of hiding forever. Genesis 3, 6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called unto Adam and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself. They thought they were hiding from an all-knowing God. So many people today think the same thing. But there is no place to hide from the one who created everything. Amen. Isaiah 29, 15. Woe unto them. That seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord. And their works are in the dark. And they say, who seeth us? And who knoweth us? God knows everything, and he knew Adam and Eve would accept. The sacrifice of forgiveness of sins for the shedding of blood by an innocent sacrifice. Genesis 3. 21, unto Adam also and to his wife that the Lord God made coats of the Skins and clothed them. Those skins came from an innocent animal who gave their life in order to clothe Adam and Eve with forgiveness. Now Adam and Eve could have said, No, thank you, Lord. No, thank you, Lord. We are just fine running around here in our fig leaves. And that is what people do today. They do the same thing today. They would rather run around in their sin than to be clothed with the forgiveness of God, which God gives us through his mercy. Through the sacrifice of his son, Christ shed his innocent blood in order that you may be clothed in his righteousness. And so many people refuse to accept the forgiveness of God, and they just keep on thinking that they are hiding from an all-knowing God. God's patience will eventually run out, dear friend. The Bible says in Isaiah 55, 6 as we start to wind down here. Seek ye the Lord while he may be found. Call ye upon him while he is near. Isaiah 55, 7. Let the wicked forsake his way. Another name for the word way. Road. Road. What road are you on? The wicked are on the road leading away from God. The saved are on the road leading to God. At the end of those destinations, one end, one road takes you to hell. The other way, the other road takes you to heaven. Think, folks, which path are you on? What way are you following? Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts have that pliable neck. Don't be stiff-necked Forsake your thoughts. Have a pliable neck. Repent. Think. If God is calling you, folks, I'm telling you, he's only going to call you for so long. Don't mock the Lord. Amen. Thank you, Lord. And let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy. Upon him and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Abundantly. That's more than enough. Amen. But my God shall supply all your need. By his according to his riches and glory. By his riches and glory by Christ Jesus. But my God shall supply all your need by his riches in Christ Jesus. Ah, I messed that up then According to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus. Jude says at the end of 22, verse 22, he says, making a difference. Which translated from the Greek means to separate thoroughly. Or withdraw from Now from what I researched on this, what I gathered was that there is more than one type of compassion or mercy. Have you ever thought about that? There's more than one type of compassion or mercy. mercy. Some people we should show different types of mercy to than others because not all people need the same type of mercy For instance, someone who has just watched a loved one die would need a different type of mercy than someone who ran off the highway and was stuck in a ditch. Different types of mercy there. Different types of compassion that we're showing. We need to be able to distinguish between the different types of mercy that we should be sharing with others. And with that, we will stop for today. I know everybody's getting tired. Heavenly Father, we short thank you, Lord, for each and every person. has come here today to hear your word, Lord. Father, we thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with, Lord. Lord, I pray, Lord, that it pointed people to you, Father, and he pointed people to Christ, Lord. Lord, we just pray that you work through this, Lord, to draw people to the cross, Lord, the people who don't know Christ as their Savior. Father. And we pray, Lord, that you'll just work through this message, Lord, to edify the saints and to build them up in your most holy word, Father. Lord, we're just so thankful for running our room in here, Lord. And we pray, Lord, that you'll just continue to send the people, Lord, to hear your word, and you'll just bless us with it. the appropriate place that you want us to meet and gather, Lord, to have fellowship and to hear your word, Lord, to share in it. Father, we just thank you and love you so much for for all that you do, Lord, for all you do is is good Lord. We thank you for your loving kindness and we thank you for your mercy, Father. Thank you for your loving kindness and mercy Thank you so much for your compassion that you show on this creation, Lord, that you have made, Lord. We know that you have created all things, Father. And Lord, we just want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Father, that you'll just bless them with the strength to care for the people that are here, Lord, in need of care. And we pray, Lord, that they would care for these folks the way you want them to be cared for, Lord. Just use them as an extension of yourself, Father, to show compassion and mercy to each person here, Lord. Thank you for those who come and help us, Lord, to to put all this together and to run the camera and the song leading Lord and the mark books and just all that the people do, Lord. We thank you so much for the help, Lord. Lord. Lord, we thank you and we love you, Father. And we just pray for those who can't get out of bed, Lord, that want to be here, Father. We pray, Lord, that you'll be with them and let them know that they're not alone, Lord. Thank you again, Lord. Thank you for each and every person that's come, Father. We love you and thank you, Lord. And in Jesus' name today, Lord, we want to pray. Amen
