Episode Transcript
All right, good afternoon everybody.
Good afternoon.
These are company and verses right here.
So that's the ones that are going to be accompanying us today.
Here we go.
All right.
All right, once again, I apologize everybody for running a little late.
I had to go take care of that business there.
If it was me in the same situation, I would hope that one of y'all would come and visit with me.
So remember that.
In case I'm in the same situation, I would appreciate somebody coming praying with me.
Amen.
All right, we had our little meeting.
Don, you wasn't here for the meeting earlier.
We have, I don't think y'all were here.
We had, if y'all notice, the tables and stuff are kind of moved around a little bit.
What we're trying to accomplish is to make a little bit more room.
We have the option to move down to the far end.
What do you call that logo, Thomas?
The what room?
Therapy.
The therapy.
There's a therapy room down at the other end of the building over here.
I'm pretty happy.
Yes, that's right.
Okay.
Anyway, we have that option.
If we would like to start having service over there, we were offered that.
My concern was that with people in wheelchairs and stuff and having a little more difficult time getting around being able to get all the way down there to that end.
So I was also assured that the people here would help with that if we were in need of that.
So y'all think about it until next week.
Let me know what y'all would like to do.
Kind of going to be like a group effort here, y'all.
It's up to y'all.
Like I told them earlier, as long as I got a place to set my Bible and my notes down, we can have it outside as far as I'm concerned.
And so we just, it's up to y'all what y'all want to do.
And that's why the tables are rearranged a little bit.
Trying to get a little bit more room because we are starting to grow.
And that's all because of God, I promise you.
Is God sending each and every person, and it's such a blessing.
All right, with all that said, y'all think about it, and let me know what y'all want to do next week.
Y'all want to start meeting down there?
Let me know, and I will let the lady know that what's her handle again?
Linda.
Yeah, that's her name.
But what she Activities director, that's right, activities director.
All right, somebody's phones for that.
Let's see.
Alright, so with that said, we'll get rolling here.
Good afternoon, everybody.
Good afternoon.
We will be in the book of Jude today as we continue our verse-by-verse study.
Now last week we stopped at the end of verse 18.
So today, God willing, we will be expounding verse 19.
To help us stay in context, we will start reading verse 17 and read through 19.
So everybody in the book of Jude?
Book of Jude.
All the way back, yes ma'am.
If you need some help finding it, let me know.
Right before Revelation.
We'll start June 17th.
We want your eyes on God's word, so we will take the time and let you get there, that's for sure.
Or secondly, I'll stay more fortunate.
Okay.
Real quickly on the side note while they find in Jude 17, y'all keep your please pray for for Bill.
Bill has been faithful to come for a while now.
I'm missing when he's not here.
That's all I pray with Waldo.
So just keep him in your prayers, please.
Just not go by and say hi or something because he's in bed now.
Okay, Jude 17, verse 17.
You got it?
Alright, we're going to read down through verse 19.
Here we go.
Jude says, but beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time who should walk after their own ungodly lusts These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person, Lord, that you Sin to come and hear your word, Father.
We're so thankful, Lord, for all these people, Lord.
Father, we want to pray for people, Lord, and just Yes, Lord.
Want to just say, Lord, he's such an encouragement, and we sure thank you, Lord, for him being able to meet in his own Lord.
We want to pray, Lord, is healing according to your will, Father.
And if he can come back, Lord, we pray for that as well.
Father, we thank you so much for Jesus.
We thank you so much for your Holy Spirit.
We thank you for your word, Lord.
And we pray, Lord, that your Spirit will just teach us your word here today, Lord, and help us learn, Father.
We pray that you're glorified here today, Lord.
We thank you and love you, Lord.
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
Amen.
Okay, so in verse 17 of Jude.
Jude is pointing us to the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
These words are the words of God that make up our Bible.
2 Timothy 3. 16 says, all scripture is given by inspiration of God. and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
Jude is pointing us back to God's word and he says, remember, remember.
Now the only way you can remember something is if you have already been exposed to it.
You must first know what to remember in order to remember it.
Yesterday my wife had to work and I wanted to fumigate our house.
I got all the little cans of bug spray ready to go and then I went from room to room, pushing tops on cans and moving with cat-like speed to avoid breathing those chemicals.
That come out of those cans getting closer and closer to the front door so I could make my escape to fresh air outside After my wife got off work, I met her at a restaurant to buy her lunch.
I'm a nice guy like that.
After lunch.
She wanted to go home and take a nap.
But I wanted to go ride my scooter and not go take a nap.
So I drove the long way home while she went directly home.
Now when I got home, she reminded me that I forgot to turn off one of the lights.
Now what she was telling me was, remember to turn off the lights before I leave the house.
Now I know that I should turn off the lights because I have been told this before by my parents.
When I was a young man and I was taught to do so, but this time because I was in a hurry to get out of the house, I overlooked it and simply forgot.
We get so busy, folks, with all we have to do that we overlook reading God's Word.
And we sometimes simply forget to.
Don't get in such a hurry that you neglect reading God's word.
Read your Bibles, folks.
Get exposed to the word of God.
You can't forget something that you don't even know.
And that is one of the reasons why we should be reading God's Word so we don't forget.
Jude says, remember, and we have to read and spend time with the Lord in order to do that.
Jude wants us to remember what the apostle said as we look at verse 18 in Jude.
He says, how that they told you there should be mockers. in the last time who should walk after their own ungodly lust.
How do we identify these mockers or deceivers?
Now remember another word for mocker was a deceiver.
God tells us here in verse 18, they walk after their own ungodly lust.
A deceiver is more interested in what they can get from you in order to gain what they want to fulfill their greedy earthly desires than what you need to fulfill your spiritual desire.
They are not interested in what they can do for you, but what you can do for them.
Verse 19 says, These be they who separate themselves.
What does that tell us?
We have a choice, folks.
We have a choice.
The words they who separate come from the Greek word.
Here's my Southern Greek right here.
Apple de oridzo.
Apple de oridzo.
That's Greek.
That's my Maybankian Greek.
And means it means to disjoin by a boundary.
Disjoin by a boundary.
There is a boundary between us and forgiveness, folks, and that boundary is called sin.
We must be forgiven of our sin before that boundary can be removed.
Now you can either choose not to be forgiven of your sins And let that boundary remain, in the which you will die in your sins and continue to be separated from God, and your soul will spend eternity in pain and misery.
Or you can choose to be forgiven and have that boundary removed by believing in the one who removed that boundary for you.
In the Old Testament, when God instructed the children of Israel to set up the tabernacle, there was a place where only the high priest could go.
Called the most holy place.
In the most holy place, there was the Ark of a Covenant, which had the mercy seat on top of it.
Now the mercy seat was where the blood offering was poured on to make an atonement for all the sins of the people.
The only way to get to that mercy seat was to pass through a veil that was hanging that separated the holy place from the most holy place.
When the high priest passed through that veil, if he did not bring the blood of the innocent sacrifice to pour out on the mercy seat, then that priest would be dead.
That bell was a boundary between the holy place and the most holy place.
Without the atoning blood of forgiveness, that priest would die when trying to approach that mercy seat seeking forgiveness.
The blood of Jesus Christ is our atonement blood, folks.
That veil or boundary has been removed.
So we do not have to be disjoined or separated from forgiveness.
We've got you marked in Hebrews 9.
1.
Let's all turn to Hebrews 9. 1 and we're going to read about the Ark of the Covenant.
A little bit about the tabernacle, and we're going to read about the mercy scene of the blood.
Hebrews 9.
1.
Hebrews 9.
1.
Everybody there?
No, it's your work.
No, wait.
We're going to wait.
Everybody got their eyes on Hebrews 9.
1.
We're not in that big hurry.
Hebrews 9-1.
Alright, Hebrews 9.
1.
Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service and a worldly sanctuary.
The Old Testament points us to a coming Savior.
The Old Testament is a foreshadowing of things to come.
When you're looking at the Old Testament, thank Jesus, folks.
Thank Jesus when you're reading in the Old Testament.
Hebrews 9. 2, for there was a tabernacle made, the first wherein was the candlestick and the table and the showbread which is called the sanctuary and after the second veil the tabernacle which is called the holiest of all which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold wherein was the golden pot that had manna And Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant.
And those are all wonderful lessons back in the Old Testament.
Hebrews 9, 5.
And over it the cherubims of glory, shadowing the mercy seat.
Now the cherubims are another type of angels.
You had cherubim and serum.
And on top of the mercy seat, you got two cherubims.
And their wings are coming over.
I don't know if y'all have ever seen a picture of the Ark of the Covenant, but there's two angels pointing towards each other.
One that way, one this way, and they're pointing towards each other, and they're overshadowing the mercy seat, which is in the middle.
That's where they pour the blood.
These are all wonderful lessons.
And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy seat, of which we cannot now speak particularly.
Now, when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
But into the second went the high priest alone, once every year, not without blood.
That's very important.
Not without blood.
Folks, there's going to be so many people standing at the judgment without the blood.
So many people are going to be standing there having believed on Christ as their Savior.
And Christ is going to look at them and say, Depart from me.
For I never knew you.
Oh, that gives me chills just talking that.
It don't have to be that way.
We can make a choice.
Well, you still can, but there's coming a time when you're not going to be able to choose.
God has blessed us with time now to choose.
It is our choice.
But into the second went the high priest alone, once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself.
The priest isn't out of it.
Just because he's a preacher doesn't mean he's forgiven without the blood of Christ.
He has to offer the blood for himself as well, which he offered for himself and for the heirs of the people.
The people have to be forgiven too.
The Holy Ghost this signifying that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing.
They looked for a Savior to come.
He wasn't here yet during the Old Testament.
He didn't come for that reason in the Old Testament.
The Holy Ghost, this signifying that the way of the holiest of all was not yet manifested, are manifested.
While as the first tabernacle was yet staying, which was a figure for the time then present. in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience.
Folks, is your conscience clear?
Do you know where you're going when you leave this old body?
If you don't know, if it might be, well, I hope so, or I think so, your conscience isn't clear.
I want you to be able to say, I know, so I can say it.
I know where this old soul's going when I leave this old body.
I know.
I know by Christ.
No, I'm sorry, I've jumped one.
Pertaining to the conscience, which stood only in meats and drinks and diverse washings.
Carnal ordinances imposed on them until the time of Reformation.
That's when Jesus is going to come back and straighten it all out.
But Christ being come and high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building.
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, folks, you're not going to go sacrifice a goat or a calf and get forgiven.
But by his own blood, Jesus Christ, he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Jesus Christ went to the cross one time.
He gave his life one time.
Why?
Because that's all that was required.
He was the perfect sacrifice given for you.
In the Old Testament, they kept doing it over and over, sacrificing bulls and goats over and over.
Christ did it one time because he was a person.
Sacrifice.
Amen.
He was God in the flesh.
Flesh is what took.
The sinless life away in the Garden of Eden.
Flesh brought sin into the world, and by one man, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh.
Paid the penalty for all those sins.
He paid the penalty for your sins.
One time.
That's all that had to be done.
One time.
For if the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot, that means perfect.
Purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
Folks, you want your conscience cleared?
You want to know that you're forgiven for all your sins?
Jesus Christ.
Faith in Christ.
I was telling my wife yesterday, or the day before, I can't remember, I lose track of days sometimes.
Y'all would have known me in a past life, probably, but I wasn't a suit-wearing guy that ain't now, so to speak.
I run with a lot of different clubs.
I was telling Miss Mary here a while back.
My hair was down in the middle of my back.
This is a true story.
My mustache, it was so long you could braid it.
I run with a bunch of different clubs.
I was a heavy drinker, and I was a heavy doer of things I shouldn't be doing.
Once I put my faith in Christ.
All that went away.
I was telling my wife, you know why I drank so much?
You know why I did all the things I wasn't supposed to be doing?
Because I was trying to take my mind.
Off of all the things that I did that were so wrong in my life, I was running from my past.
Now I know my sins are forgiven.
Mustache is gone.
The hair is cut off.
No more alcohol.
No more doing the things I ought not to be doing.
If you don't believe me, that's my wife.
Y'all are looking at a changed man through the faith in Christ right here.
Through faith in Christ, my life has changed.
I am no longer worried about my sins.
I am forgiven of my sins.
And the day that I believed in Christ, it felt like such a load came off of me, I can't tell you.
What a burden it was to let that go to put down the alcohol put down all the other stuff I was doing put it down And I ain't touched it since.
Hallelujah.
This has been what?
11, 12 years ago.
Thank you, Jesus.
I've been drinking since I was probably four or five years old.
That's the honest truth.
Maybe three.
Don't maybe, I don't know.
That's a possibility.
Mama said the boy crying too much.
Give him something to put him to sleep.
I don't know.
My birth mother is no longer here for me to ask her.
She died at a real early age.
But the mother that raised me, that's who I call mama.
And my mama, she prayed for me and prayed for me, and I believe.
But three more.
If it wasn't for her, praying.
Amen.
So, mamas, don't think that your prayers are going unanswered.
God's hearing them.
Fathers, if you think your prayers are going unanswered, God hears them.
I am standing here today, but why I believe is because my mama prayed for me.
She never gave up on me.
All the times I woke up with my head over in the toilet, my mom was praying for me.
All the times I woke up in a ditch somewhere.
My mama was praying for me.
All the times I don't have a clue how I got home.
My mama was praying for me.
She started telling me that towards the end, you're going to be a preacher.
I said, don't be telling her about that.
I had a plan.
That's what I told her.
I said, don't be telling her about that.
You was right, mama.
You was right.
Jesus Christ will change your life is what I'm trying to tell you folks.
But the choice is yours to make.
If you don't know Christ as your Savior, you can.
You can.
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience?
From dead works to serve the living God.
My conscience has now been purged.
I am serving the living God.
And for this cause he is the mediator of the New Testament.
What is a mediator?
A mediator is a goal between.
Brother Ray gets mad at me.
We start having an argument.
Miss Mary's lot step in the middle and say, she's the mediator.
She's the go-between.
That is a mediator, a go-between.
Folks, we are born in sin.
You have to be forgiven in order to live with God for the rest of eternity.
God looks down on sin.
God hates sin.
You say, oh, God's a loving God.
God hates sin.
God hates sin.
You have to be forgiven of your sin.
Can two walk together unless they be in agreement?
If you're not in agreement with God, it's because you're still in your sins, folks.
There is a mediator That comes between you and God to get you forgiven of your sins, but you have to put your faith in that mediator, and that mediator is the cross of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ hanging on that cross died for your sins by your faith you believe forgiven Jesus Christ is the mediator.
You have to have a go-between in order to be forgiven for your sins.
And for this cause he is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the First Testament.
They which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance The veil that separates us from God is sin God has to be separated from sin because He is holy.
Jesus died in order for you to be able to be forgiven of your sins.
Jesus removed the veil, but you must go through him.
What did Jesus say?
I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No man comes unto the Father but by me.
That's right.
Mark 15:37, and Jesus cried with a loud voice when he was hanging on that cross.
And gave up the ghost.
That means he died right there on that cross.
And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
Sin has been paid for.
No longer avail keeping you from going into the holiest of holies, folks.
Through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ removed that bell.
He tore it due.
Now you have access to get into the holiest of holies.
But you bring the blood of Christ with you when you go.
The ungodly choose to separate themselves from God by choosing not.
To believe in the death of God's dear beloved Son for the forgiveness of their sins.
They choose to disjoin themselves from forgiveness.
And choose to continue to live their lives in sin.
By continuing to do this, they choose an eternity of misery.
As for myself, I say along with Fanny Crosby, who wrote this, and if you know it, sing it with me.
We're going to sing one verse.
I am thine, O Lord.
I have heard thy voice and it told thy love to me.
But I long to rise in the arms of faith and be closer drawn to thee.
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to the cross where thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord.
To thy precious bleeding tide Real quickly and we'll close here folks In John 6, 44, Jesus said, No man can come to me except the Father.
Which hath fit me, draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
If you are still choosing to separate yourself from God, I want to ask you why.
I had one of my wife's relatives tell me one time, and you might remember this, she told me that marrying my wife was the best decision I ever made.
Marrying my wife was the second best decision I ever made.
Believing in Christ as my Savior was the best decision I ever made.
And if you don't believe me, ask my wife.
She can tell you about a man who didn't know Christ as his Savior.
And she can tell you about that same man who now does.
Praise God.
It all started by heeding the draw of the Father and not ignoring it.
Don't brush it off.
If you continue to ignore the call of God, folks, one day He is going to stop calling you.
And the next thing you know, you're before him at the judgment.
The best decision I ever made was to believe God, and I can tell you for 100% certainty.
That it will be the best decision you will ever make too.
Amen.
Please let me know at the judgment if you agree with that.
Amen.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come to hear your word here today, Lord.
We pray for those, Lord, on the internet to tune in to watch, Father, and we just pray, Lord, that you were glorified here, Father, throughout it all, Lord.
Thank you, Lord.
We pray that the saints were edified, Father, and that the lost were pointed to you, Lord.
Father, we want to thank you so much for this lesson that you blessed us with, Lord.
Lord, we want to pray for Bill too, Father.
Lord, we thank you so much for his encouragement each and every time he comes, Father.
We thank you for those Who come faithfully, Lord, to be an encouragement, Lord, which they are.
We thank you for each and every one of them that come, Father.
It's such a blessing, Lord, to be able to come and share your word.
And we thank you for the ability to get here.
And to do this, Lord.
Thank you for allowing us to come and do this, Father.
We pray, Lord, for the caregivers that are here, Lord, that they would just.
Take care of these people, Lord, the way you want them to be taken care of as if they were taking care of themselves, Lord.
Just work through them, Lord.
Help take care of these people.
Lord, but they are such a blessing, Lord.
We pray that you'll be with each and every one of them, Lord, and let them know that they're not alone here, Father.
Let them know that you're here working, Lord, and that you'll never leave them nor forsake them, Lord.
We thank you, and we love you so much.
Lord.
Thank you for your Holy Spirit.
Thank you for your precious word.
And thank you, Lord, that Jesus didn't come off that cross, Father, until He died for all our sins, Lord.
And he went to the tomb.
And thank you for raising him back up, Father.
We thank you so much, Lord, for each and everything you do, for it all is good, Lord.
Thank you, Father.
Father, in Jesus' name we pray here today, Lord, amen.
