Yep. Let me get this taken care of here. Alright. Hello everybody. Hi everybody. Here's some accompanying verses for today's verses. Or for today's verse in Jude. So we can go back and look them up if you want to later. There we go. Alright Alright, good afternoon everyone. Miss Linda, good to see you, ma'am. Alright. Alright, so last week we left off in the book of Jude, remember? In verse 20. And we're going to be picking right back up her as we go verse by verse. And I like to get the words and look up the words, get the meaning of the words, and that helps us to learn. Verse 20, book of Jude, Jude says, but ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for this time that you blessed us here, Lord, to come together and to get into your word here today. Thank you, Lord, for those who come to hear your word talk, Lord. And we pray that you will just teach us here today, Father. Just teach us, Lord. Help us to learn today, Lord. Bless us, Lord, with the ability to learn, Father. Help us to have ears to hear, Lord. Father, we thank you. Thank you so much for Jesus. Thank you for your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your word, Father. As we get into your word now, Lord, we pray that the distractions will be removed, Lord. Amen. All eyes will be upon you, Father. We thank you so much. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. Okay, so now we discussed the words building up last week. And I said that these two words give us the idea of to build upon. to build upon. Jude says, but ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith. Now when we start building, we need a solid foundation to build on. Or else what we are building will fall over when adversity comes. God has already given us a solid foundation to build on, folks. The problem is We want to build what we want to build on what we want to build upon. And that is our pride saying, not God's will be done, but my will be done. And that is a very dangerous place to be building. Jesus says in the book of Luke, chapter 6, verses 47 through 49. I have y'all marked that. We're gonna be using this here pretty good. Luke 647. Right there. Okay. Yeah, I'm getting that. Yeah, I'm getting that. Yeah, it takes a little man up yet. Luke 47 through 49. Jesus says Whosoever cometh to me and heareth my sayings and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like. What is the very first thing Jesus says to do here? Cometh to me. Jesus says, comeeth to me. Come to me. The very first thing. You must put away your pride and come to Christ, folks. Psalms 10, 4 says, the wicked Another word for that is ungodly. Through the pride of his countenance, the idea of the word pride here is height or loftiness. arrogance. The wicked lift themselves up. The wicked through the pride of his countenance Will not seek after God. God is not in all his thoughts. The wicked person says, I don't need no help. I can do this all on my own. I don't need no help. I'll pick my own foundation. I'll build on whatever I want to. It's my life. I can do with it whatever I choose. That is what the wicked person says. They do not give God credit. Very dangerous place to be. Psalms 10, 5 says, his ways, talking about the wicked, are always grievous. The word grievous means twisted or perverted. They don't think the way God thinks. They think totally different. Thy judgments are far above out of his sight, as for all his enemies, he puffeth at thee. thing. That won't never happen to me. I'm going to build where I want to build on the foundation I want to build. Adversity, that ain't going to happen. It's gonna be fine. Everything's gonna be just fine. They don't look to the future. Psalms 10, 6, 6. He has said in his heart I shall not be moved, for I shall never be in adversity. The wicked are confident in the foundation that they have already. That word adversity gives us the idea of distress. The prideful do not think about what is going to happen when the wind starts blowing and the waters start rising. The ones who ignored Noah are probably wishing they would have put away their pride and came and listened to what Noah was saying. But they let their pride stand in the way. And that brings us to the next thing, Jesus says. Heareth. Heareth my sayings. Heareth my sayings. Jesus says, come to me and hear me. Hear me. When we put away our pride and come to Christ, we are humbled and we are ready to listen. Psalms 1017 says, Lord, that's a capital, L-O-R-D, thou hast heard the desire of the humble. Thou wilt prepare their heart. Thou wilt cause thine eye, ear to hear. Only the capital L-O-R-D, self-existing, eternal, Jehovah God Himself. can prepare your heart to receive Christ and cause your ears to hear. Amen. John 6. 44 through 47, and we've got y'all marked on that one too. John 6. 44, but we're gonna come back to this. Okay. John 6. 44 through 47. You got this basic? You're over in somewhere. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There we go, there. There we go. Yeah, thank you. John, you didn't find it? Okay. John 644, and we're gonna be going back to Luke. So John 6. 44 through 47. John 6. 44 says, no man can come to me This is Jesus speaking. No man can come to me except the Father which hath sent me draw him And I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard and hath learned of the Father cometh unto me. Not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of God. He has seen the Father. Jesus says verily, verily, and when Jesus says verily, verily, you need to pay attention, folks, that means truly, truly. Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Don't you One everlasting life, folks. And then he ain't talking about everlasting life as we know it today. Thank God. And that brings us to the next thing Christ said. He said, Come to me. Hear my sayings and doeth them. Doeth them. The word doeth. Used here is translated from the Greek word poi ao. Poi-a-o. And one of the meanings of this word is agree. Agree. Come to me, hear my sayings, and agree with me. Jesus said, verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Now you either agree with Jesus or you don't. If you agree, then you are building on a sure foundation. Let's go back and finish out our verses in Luke chapter 6. We're going to go back to Luke chapter 6 and finish out these verses. Luke 6. 47 says, Whosoever cometh to me and heareth my sayings and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like. Now remember, we're talking about a sure foundation, folks. 648. Luke 648. He is like a man which built in house. And dig deep and laid the foundation on a rock. Y'all remember we talked about Miss Becky's skyscraper and she built it on the earth. She didn't pour no concrete. She didn't lay it on that rock And when the winds came, the skyscraper fell over because it didn't have a good firm foundation. He is like a man which built a house and digg deep and laid the foundation on a rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house and could not shake it. For it was founded upon a rock. The words beat vehemently upon is translated from a Greek word which means burst upon as a tempest. or flood. When I was a young, younger man, young, younger man, when I was younger, my childhood friends and I would have water balloon fights. I don't know if y'all ever done that or not. When I was a young man, we used to have water balloon fights. We would fill up balloons with water and throw them at each other. You do they get caught doing that now, no telling what all they do to you. But back in the day, that's what we used to do. Now sometimes those balloons would not burst. So we could pick them up and throw them back at somebody. But when we would throw those balloons and they would break, it would soak whoever it broke on. When that balloon broke, it was just a soaking of water that came suddenly to the person who received it. In order for that water balloon to break, it had to be thrown pretty hard with some energy behind it. And that is what the words beat vehemently upon gives us the idea of. The flood that came to this house came with great force, and yet it was not moved. We'll go on to the next verse, Luke 6. 49, and we're going to talk about the ones who did not put their house on the firm foundation. Jesus says, but he that heareth and doeth not is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth. against which the stream did beat vehemently on, and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great. I want you to notice that the stream came to both houses. Both houses were beat upon with great force, but only one house remained The house with the best foundation. The house that was built upon the rock. What you believe in is your foundation, folks. Yes. If you do not agree with God that his son died for your sins, then when the judgment comes, your foundation will fail. It will fail you and you will fall. But back in our verse in Jude 20, Jude says, but ye beloved, building up yourselves on what? Your most holy faith. Jude says the foundation that we are to be building on is your most holy faith. Why? God's word says in Hebrews 11, 6, but without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. When the apostle Paul was telling his story to King Agrippa about meeting Christ on the road to Damascus. He tells us how his foundation changed. Let's close today by reading in the book of Acts. Chapter 26, verses 9 through 18. And we got y'all marked there, Miss Mary. Acts 26. Gotcha, gotcha. Now this is the Apostle Paul standing before Peter's ripper. After he had done and arrested. The Apostle Paul through a lot of stuff. Acts 26, 9. Paul says, I verily thought with myself that I ought to do many things contrary. To the name of Jesus of Nazareth. What is that? If your foundation is not based on faith in Christ. It's contrary. It is contrary. If it is not faith in Christ, folks, it is contrary. You either believe or you don't. There's no middle ground there. Which thing I also did in Jerusalem, and many of the saints did I shut up in prison. having received authority from the chief priests. And when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme, and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities. The apostle Paul went out and persecuted Christians. His foundation was not built on Christ at that time. Whereupon, as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, at midday, O King, I saw in the way a light from heaven. Above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me, and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul Why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest. But rise and stand upon thy feet. A new foundation. A new foundation. For I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister. and a witness both of these sayings which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee. Delivering thee from the people and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee. To open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God that they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Faith that is in Christ. You are sanctified by faith in Christ. A new foundation. Romans 5, 1 and 2 will close, folks. Paul also wrote the book of Romans through the inspiration of God. Paul says, therefore be justified by faith We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Where foundations stand on. by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand. And rejoice in hope of the glory of God. That word stand means abide. A solid foundation to stand on or abide in faith in Christ's death on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins. Truth from our Creator, folks. Truth from God's word. That is a firm foundation. Faith in Christ, brother. Your most holy faith. Yes. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come, Lord, to hear your word, Father. We pray, Lord, that you were glorified here, Father, and that Jesus was magnified, Lord. And that the lost were appointed to him, Father. And Lord, we just pray that you would draw the lost to the cross, Father, and that they would heed that draw, Lord. And that they would just come to the cross and see Christ dying for their sins. And they would find the forgiveness that is there, Lord, for a troubled soul that don't know any better. Yes, amen. Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for Jesus. Thank you for your Holy Spirit. We thank you for your word, Lord. We thank you so much, Lord. What a blessing it is, Lord, to be able to come and share your word here for our. Thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with. Lord. Father, we want to thank you for Brother Ray standing in, Lord, Brother Larry. We want to pray for Brother Larry and his health issues and his family too, Lord. Thank you for the Camarella coming, Lord, and helping out. That's a big help too. Lord. Father, we thank you for each and every person that come, Lord, to hear your word. We pray that the saints were edified here today, Lord. I want to pray for those, Lord, who are too sick to get out of bed, Lord. Pray for them, Lord, that your will be done in their lives, Father. Lord, we want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Father. Pray, Lord, that they would care for these people, Father, the way that you Better than they care for themselves, Lord, the way you ought to be cared for, Father. Help us, Lord, to share your word with others, Lord, and to point people to Christ, Lord. We thank you, Lord, for each and every breath you bless us with, Lord. We pray that we use that breath for your glory, Lord. Thank you, Jesus, so much for all that you did, Lord, on that cross, Father. Thank you so much. And in Jesus' name we want to pray, Lord, amen
