Alright, hello everybody. Good to see everybody. Good to see you, ma'am. Good to have y'all. Alright, man. So, if y'all haven't met me yet, my name's Brother Doug Sexton. And I like to go verse by verse in God's Word. We go verse by verse. We cover. Yes, ma'am. We left off last week in the book of Jude. And we have just started verse 9, which says, "Yet Michael our angel, when fintending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses, derseth not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, 'The Lord rebuke thee.'" Now, remember, Jude has been writing to his brethren about ungodly people that crept into their congregation. And he has been warning his brethren about ungodly people coming in. So, last week, we left off with talking about Michael the our angel. Now, when I looked up the word "Michael," remember, as we discussed last week, I found it was of Hebrew origin. And it means "who is like God." And the word "our angel" gives us the idea of a chief angel, an angel over all the other angels. So, that tells us right there that there are angels. The angel who is over all the other angels, the angel in charge, the archangel. Now, I said that I believe that this Michael, the archangel, is the Lord. And I referred to 1 Thessalonians 4.16 to back that up. 1 Thessalonians 4.16 says, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of thee, archangel." Now, there ain't but one archangel, there ain't but one that can be in charge. One archangel above all the rest. "And with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first." So, that's why I believe that Michael, the archangel, is really the Lord, Jesus Christ. So, let's move on back in Jude, verse 9, which goes on to say, "When contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses." Now, what I want to do, I want to go ahead and continue. I'm going to read the rest of that right quick, and I'll tell you why in just a minute. He says, "When contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses, ders not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, 'The Lord rebuked thee.'" So, the word contending, that comes from the Greek word diakrino, it is spelled, diakrino. And it means to separate thoroughly, separate thoroughly. Now, a little bit of personal information about myself, I enjoy working on motorcycles. I do that very, I enjoy working on motorcycles. I'd rather work on a motorcycle than a car. I recently bought a nonrunning motorcycle for my wife, in order for her to learn how to ride them, because that's what she's wanting to do now. And if you haven't met the camera lady, that's my wife, so they call her camera lady in here. Now, when I buy a nonrunning motorcycle, I usually check all the basic problems first. Now, if you're a mechanic in here, then you know what I'm referring to. One of those problems is with the fuel. When a motorcycle or just about any other gas-powered vehicle sets up for a long period of time, condensation can build up in the gas tank, and eventually cause major problems with your fuel. Too much moisture in your gas will cause an engine not to start. The way that my dad taught me to check whether or not there is water in the gas is to drain some of the gas into a clear container of some sort and look at the gas. If you have water in the gas, they will separate thoroughly. You can look at that gas and you can see a big old blob of water, and it's usually sitting, I believe it sits on the bottom, and the gas is on top. It separates thoroughly. That gas and that water do not mix. You can look at the container and see the gas and the water are separate, and thus knowing that your gas is contaminated, and I want to tell you that your motorcycle won't run on water. You need that pure gas to get the combustion for your scooter to put down a road. Now back in our verse in Jude, it says, "Yet, Michael the archangel, contending with the devil, Michael the archangel thoroughly separated himself from the devil." He wanted us to know the difference, folks. Just like when I look at that clear container of contaminated gas with the water that is separated in it, I can see the difference. I know one is gas and one is water. One helps to make the engine run and the other doesn't. If Michael the archangel is in fact Jesus the Christ, God's only begotten Son, he is the one who gives you eternal life with your heavenly Father. And the devil is the one trying to keep you from it. He is the one who gives you eternal life with your heavenly Father. He is the one who gives you eternal life with your heavenly Father. The word "disputed" comes from the Greek word, now excuse my grief, y'all know my backwoods southern and southeastern Texas accent here, the Greek word "Diau'a'amahib." It is spelled, I'll spell it for you, that way you can pronounce it if you want to. It is spelled, D-I-A-L-E-G-O-M-A-I, and it means to say thoroughly, to say thoroughly. So from what we have read thus far in our verse, Michael the archangel, being separate from the devil, has discussed something thoroughly with him. The word "thorough" means complete. No more needs to be said. Michael the archangel has told the devil what needed to be said. Now remember, we discussed a couple of weeks ago in verse 8, it says, "Likewise also these filthy dreamers that follow the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities." Remember we talked about speaking bad about the people over us, about the people, and we discussed also about just don't speak bad about nobody, regardless. Jesus, or Michael the archangel, did not speak bad about the devil. Instead, he told the devil, he spoke thoroughly. And if we read on into here, it says, "The Lord repute thee." "The Lord repute thee," is what Michael the archangel said. Now, I want to let you know that I am not sure if this means, as we read on into it, it says, "When contending with the devil, showing us there is a difference, he disputed or discussed thoroughly, about the body of Moses." Now, I want to let you know that I am not 100% sure. This means the little body of Moses, remember Moses died and he was buried. And they didn't know where, well, I believe it said, anyway, I didn't get into all that because I'm not for sure if it's the, if it's taken it literally as the literal body of Moses. Now, remember Moses was the giver of the laws back in the Old Testament. So, he's also referred to as the giver of the laws, the body of the law. Now, I'm not for sure if it's talking about the literal body of Moses, or if this is referring to the laws of God that Moses brought to the children of Israel. Now, I've been studying this all morning. I mean, it's been going through my mind. I've been going here and there with different verses, and I've been praying about it, Lord, please show me. So, what I'm going to do for now, I'm going to tell you what I've written down, but I might come back next week and reiterate on that a little bit because I don't have peace yet with everything that I'm going to say here because this may or may not be correct. So, I'm going to tell it like I believe it's correct, but I'm leaving, I'm not saying 100% sure. This is just my researching on it, but there's another something, I'm being pulled to something else too. So, please bear with me. If you don't believe this is correct, just bear with me please, and we'll discuss it later. And I'm going to get back into a different study. Like I was telling him earlier, I've been trying to look up something else that's going on here in my mind. So, just bear with me on this. So, first of all, I want to go ahead and go through that first thing I mentioned. He says here in verse 9, "The Lord rebuked thee." Now, what I did, I looked up the words, "The Lord rebuked thee." And I found it in Zechariah. Zechariah, and this is what I have to research some more. I need to research this a little bit more. Zechariah chapter 3 verses 1 and 2. And I read into this psalm, and I went back, and I read previous verses, and this is probably where I'm going to lean into a little bit more next week, because I've sit here and I've studied this out a little bit further, but I need to study it a little more before I get all done. Now, I just want to mention these verses with you, because this is where I found the Lord rebuked thee. Chapter 3 of Zechariah verses 1 and 2, he says, "And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuked thee. O Satan, even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuked thee, is not this a brand plucked out of the fire." Now, what I did, I researched some of this, and this does get me back to Moses and the laws. So, this is probably where I'm going to research now a little bit more, and we'll discuss this a little bit more next week. But for what I have right now, which it could go this way too. I mean, I could see both ways it could go, but let's see. I believe that he was referring to Moses and the laws. When Moses brought the law, God's laws, to the children of Israel, and I believe they're referring to Moses as the lawgiver, the body of Moses as the laws that God gives. That's a thinking on it. Now, I think he's referring to the laws or the Ten Commandments that Moses brought to the children of Israel. And if that is true, and if Michael the archangel is Jesus the Christ, God has only begotten Son, then this could be referring to when Christ was tried by the devil to break one of God's commandments, but Christ fulfilled all. Now, once again, I'm not 100% sure, and I want you to understand that. But either way, let's close today by reading about the account when Jesus was tried by the devil. So we're going to look at Matthew chapter 3, and we're going to read verses, chapter 3, verse 16 through Matthew chapter 4 and 11, and that's the ones I've got part in on the book. When Jesus Christ was tried by the devil, after Jesus got baptized, he was immediately taken to be tried by the devil. Now, as he was being tried by the devil, he never did. He didn't say anything bad to the devil. He simply let God do the rebuking, you know, and that's the way we ought to be when, as we were talking about the week before last morning, all these elected officials are elected, the ones that we didn't elect, and somebody else elected, it's all part of God's plan, and we shouldn't be speaking evil of the beauties. And Jesus did not speak evil here. He simply pointed them to what God said. So let's read that, and we'll close after that. So we're going to look at Matthew chapter 3, and we're going to start with verse 16. Now, this is right after Jesus was baptized. Matthew 3, 16, he says, "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water, and lo, the heavens were open unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him." So when you read your Bibles, folks, a lot of times if you see the dove, and he's talking about a dove, you can refer that, you can imagine the Spirit of God being referred to as a dove. This is right here, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove. You know, when God would know, was on Noah's ark, and he let the dove go out, and the dove come back? Yeah. So Matthew 3, 17, he says, "And lo, a voice from heaven sang, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.' For one, then was Jesus let up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward and humbled. And when the tempter came to him," that's the devil, "he said, 'If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.' But he answered and said, 'It is written, 'Man shall not live by word alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'" You notice Jesus didn't rebuke the devil, he didn't holler at the devil and scream at the devil. "He said every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4, 5, "Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and seteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, 'If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, he shall give his angels charge concerning thee. And in their hands they shall bury thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against the stone.' Jesus said unto him, 'It is written again, 'Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'" Calmly, plainly, Jesus didn't yell and scream at him. "Again the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them. And saith unto him, 'All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.'" Matthew 4, 10 says, "Then saith Jesus unto him, 'Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, 'Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.' Then the devil leaveth him, and behold, angels came and ministered unto him." You see, Jesus didn't holler, didn't yell, didn't scream, didn't cuss at him. He simply did what we all should do, point them to God. Jesus pointed them to God. And I just, I think that this could be part of what they're talking about when he says, "There is not brain against him or railing accusation," but said, "The Lord will be with me." So if it's this, that's great, or we're going to go back and research a little bit what I ran in Zachariah for next week. That's okay. It's good. Alright, we sure appreciate y'all for coming and hearing God's Word. Heavenly Father, we sure thank you so much Lord, for those who come to hear your Word as Father. Lord, we thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with, Lord. I pray, folks, I pray Lord that the folks understand, Lord, that you should pray Lord, that they learn, Lord. I pray that they leave here knowing more about your Word rather than when they came in. I pray all this was in truth, Father, and I just pray, Lord, that you would just continue to use me to share your Word with others, Lord. Help me to echo your words, Father. We sure thank you for all that you do, Lord, for all you do is good, Father. We thank you for the great attention that these people give to your Word, Lord. And we just pray for each and every one of them here today, Lord. And Father, we want to pray for Miss Faith, Lord. Just pray for what we've done in her life, Lord. And we thank you, Lord, for all that you do. We want to pray for our Psalm leader as well, Lord. Pray for his healing up, Lord, according to your will, Lord. And we just thank you so much, Father. Thank you for Jesus, Lord, the one that died for our sins, Lord, and our Savior, Father. We ask his name, his name today, Lord. Amen. - Yeah.
