Episode Transcript
Alright, sure is good to see everybody today.
What an encouragement, what a blessing.
Alright, so we're going to be in the book of Jude as we continue our verse by verse study in the book of Jude.
And last week we left off in verse 15 in the book of Jude, but to help us stay in context, Let's start reading in verse 14 and read through 15, through verse 15, to help us understand what Jude is sharing with us through the inspiration of God.
God shared His work with Jude and Jude is sharing what God shared with Him with us.
Jude is passing out the loaves and fishes with us and that is what we should be doing with others, folks.
If you know about Jesus as your Savior, please, please tell others about Jesus.
So, let's read here in the book of Jude, verses 14 and 15.
We'll get started.
Jude says in verse 14 of Jude, "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these," talking about the ungodly, "saying, 'Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of His saints to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank You so much, Lord, for Your precious Word, Lord.
We pray, Lord, as we get started here, Father, Your Spirit will just teach through me, Lord, Share your word with everybody here in this room, Lord, and for those who tune in to watch other people, Lord.
We pray that you are glorified here today, Lord.
We thank you so much for this lesson that you've blessed us with, Lord, to share.
And Father, we just pray your word goes forth here today, Lord, and that all ears will be attended, Father, and all eyes will be on your word today, Lord.
Just teach us now, Father, help us to learn.
In Jesus' name, I pray, Lord, amen.
Amen.
So last week we left off in verse 15 and we discussed the words "execute" which means to make or to do.
And we discussed the word "judgment" which means a tribunal or a court of justice.
When the Lord returns, He is not coming back with a pocket full of second chances as I said last week.
So he is returning to hold court for all.
Now y'all remember what all means?
All means all.
That's right.
He is coming back to hold court for all.
He will be separating the ones who are exonerated from the ones who have yet relieved themselves the sin debt that must be paid.
God's Word says in Romans 6.23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Sin must be paid for.
Either you are going to pay for it, or you can put your trust in the one who Either way you want to pay, through Christ or through you, I can promise you folks, the judge will be ruling his verdict in your case someday.
He's going to rule his verdict in my case someday, and he's going to rule it in your case someday, too.
The really cool thing here is you are the one in control of how the judge will rule.
You are the one in You are given a choice.
It's like inside information that some people are given about which stocks to sell or buy in order for them to profit that we are not given.
But this information concerning how to get the judge to rule in your favor is given to all.
You want the judge to rule in your favor?
Jesus told Saul, who later became Paul, when he had his encounter with Christ on the way to Damascus.
In Acts 26.14.
We got your marker here in a second.
Acts 26.14.
This is Saul's description of what happened and what Christ told him.
Acts 26, 14, "And when we were all fallen to the earth," this is Saul talking to the better King Paul, "I heard a voice speaking unto me."
I wish all y'all, everybody that doesn't know Christ, I wish and I pray that y'all would hear that voice speaking to you someday.
"I heard a voice speaking unto me and saying in the Hebrew tongue, 'Saul, Saul, why persecutest "It is hard for thee to kick against the bricks."
And I said, "Who art thou, Lord?"
And he said, "I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
But rise and stand upon thy feet, for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen and of those things "To the wish I will appear unto thee, delivering thee from the people and from the Gentiles unto whom now I send thee."
Now why is he sending them to the Gentiles?
To open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God.
Why?
"That they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me."
That is Christ.
You want to know you're going to heaven?
Put your faith in Christ, folks.
You will be sanctified by faith that is in Christ.
Do you want the judge to rule in your favor?
Faith in Christ.
When your body lies down for the last time, do you want to know that your spirit is going to be with the Lord for eternity?
Faith in Christ.
Do you want all your sins forgiven?
Faith in Christ.
You do not have to be the one that the judge is forced to sentence to an eternity of fire and torture.
But if you refuse to accept God's Son as your substitute by believing that He has already received your wages for sin, then you will be the one who is going to receive those wages.
And the judge is going to tell you, "I never knew you.
Depart from Me, ye that work iniquity."
Back in Jude verse 15, our verse says, "To execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly among them of their ungodly deeds."
The word "convince" used here means to convict fully or punish.
No probation, no slap on the wrist and given a second chance, but convicted fully, either innocent or guilty, then sentence accordingly.
If you are judged innocent, well done, thou good and faithful servant.
Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things.
Enter thou into the joy of the Lord.
If you are found guilty, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Do not pass go and do not collect two hundred dollars, but straight to everlasting fire if you are found guilty.
Looking back at our verse here in verse fifteen of Jude, Jude writes, "And to convince or to convict fully, how many of the ungodly?
All.
Well, that's right.
All.
All of the ungodly.
All ungodly shall be convicted.
None shall slip through the trial scot-free, folks.
None shall be able to hide when court is in session.
And after the trial is held, the guilty will not be escorted out of the courthouse through the back door to freedom, but will be sentenced on the spot and detained to their punishment forever.
Let's look at this word ungodly.
He says to execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly.
The two letters "un" are a prefix, which means "to put" or "fix" before.
When the prefix "un" is used here before the word "godly," we get the idea of "not."
"Not."
So, if we were to put the word "not" in front of the word "godly," what would we have?
"Not godly."
Very good, camera lady.
Not godly.
We would have ungodly.
If we were to put the prefix "u" in before "cooked," what would we have?
Uncooked.
Not cooked.
The camera lady, she just put a chunk of cow in the cooker at the house before we let to come go to church.
She knows that I like my cow cooked.
I don't want to eat no uncooked cow.
She put it in the cooker before we left to go to church.
She did that because she knows I like my cow cooked, as I bet Don probably does too because I heard him juggle there.
You like your cow cooked, Don?
Yes, sir.
"Yes sir, I don't want to eat no raw uncooked cow."
"I don't want to eat uncooked cow."
Now the difference between uncooked cow and the ungodly is that after the cow is cooked it will get removed from the heat.
The ungodly, after they are sentenced, they do not get removed from the heat, folks.
They live an eternity in the fire and torture for eternity.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to live in fire and torture for eternity.
I want to be able to come out of that fire.
And you can do that, you can come out of that fire through faith in Christ.
The word ungodly, translated here from the Greek language means irreverent, impious or wicked.
The ungodly refuse to show God reverence.
The word "revere" which is our root word of reverence.
The word "revere" means to regard with fear, mingled with respect and affection.
The ungodly do not fear the Lord.
Proverbs 1-7 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Lord, I don't want that.
I've had people before, I've been trying to tell them about Christ and they just turn around and walk away from me.
Fools that despise wisdom.
They don't want to know about Christ.
They don't want to know how to be saved.
I admit there was a time in my life I didn't want to hear a deal.
But once I put my faith in Christ, now I want to tell everybody, it changed my life.
God changed my life.
The ungodly do not respect the Lord.
They are like Cain and want to give God what they want to give God for forgiveness.
And just ignore what God requires in order to be forgiven.
How can you do any of these things?
Oh, and I'm sorry, the ungodly do not respect the Lord.
And finally, the ungodly do not love the Lord.
Psalm 145.20 says, "The Lord preserveth all them that love Him, but all the wicked will He destroy."
Matthew 22, 37 says, "Jesus said, 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.'"
Deuteronomy 10, 12, "And now Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul?"
Let's close today by reading 2 Peter chapter 3.
We're going to be reading verses 1-14.
I expect you already got it.
2 Peter chapter 3 verse 1.
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you, in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance.
Folks, if you don't know Christ as your Savior, You don't have a pure mind.
Verse 2, "That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets."
He's pointing us back to the Old Testament, folks.
"And of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers."
Jude is telling us about the scoffers.
Walking after their own lusts.
And saying, where is the promise of His coming?
For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
For this, they willingly, willingly are ignorant of.
They have a choice, but they refuse to choose.
They are willingly ignorant of that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water, whereby the world that then was being overflowed with water perished.
But the heavens and the earth which are now by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand And a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering to us-worse, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Folks, if you don't know Jesus Christ as your Savior, God has had patience with you, and patience with you and patience with you.
He is long suffering and I thank God for His patience and long suffering with me.
He could have taken me at any time and Brother Doug would be in it.
I'd be experiencing the fiery flames and the eternal heat.
Thank you Lord for your patience with me.
Not willing that any should perish.
God doesn't want you to perish and go to hell folks.
God wants you to repent and come back to him and accept his son as your savior.
But that all should come to repentance.
Y'all remember what it means to repent?
Changing of the mind.
To have a change of mind.
Verse 10 in 2 Peter chapter 3.
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night."
You don't know.
You don't know when he's coming, folks.
No man knows when the Lord's going to return. "in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are therein shall be burned up."
That brings a verse to my mind, "What shall I profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?"
What good does it do?
You're going to lose it all anyway.
It's all going to be burned up.
"Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness?
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God."
Remember that's what Judas tells us that he not said here.
He said, "Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints to execute judgment upon all."
We should be looking for that time, folks.
Looking for that time.
"Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of the Lord, of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, "And the elements shall melt with fervent heat."
Nevertheless, we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth.
"Wherein dwelleth righteousness."
In this new heaven and earth, folks, there will be no sin.
There will be no ungodliness.
"Wherein dwelleth righteousness."
If we were to put that prefix "you" in before righteousness, what would we have?
Unrighteousness.
There is going to be no unrighteousness in the kingdom of God, folks.
"Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless."
Now the only way you're going to be blameless and without spot, folks, is if you put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior.
That is the only way.
There is no other way.
There is no medium ground there that you can walk.
He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already.
Why?
Because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for this lesson that you blessed us with, Father.
I pray, Lord, that you would glorify here today through your work.
Lord, we want to pray for anybody here, Lord, that doesn't know the cross, that's our Savior, Lord, that you would draw them to the cross, Father.
And that they would seek you Lord.
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness Lord.
And pray that they would seek you Lord.
And not ignore you calling them to the cross Lord.
We know time is short here Father.
Lord we just pray that the ones Lord that don't know Christ.
That they would use the time that they have left Father. come to Christ and see him on that cross.
Father died for their sins.
Lord, we just thank you so much for each and every person that's come here today.
We hear you were taught by.
We pray, Lord, that the Saints were edified and that the law want to pray for those Lord recovery from surgery here and for those fixing going to surgery and for those who are sick.
Father, we just pray Lord that that you will be done in these matters, Lord, these folks.
We thank you for each one that comes, Lord.
They're such an encouragement, Lord.
We pray, Lord, that you just be with each and every one of them, Lord, and let them know that they're not alone, Father.
We pray for the caregivers here, Lord, that they would care for these folks, Lord, as you would want them to be cared for, Lord.
We thank you and we love you, Father.
Lord, we just thank you so much for your word.
Thank you for your Holy Spirit, Lord.
Thank you for Jesus.
In his name we pray, Lord, amen.
Amen.
