Alright everybody, here's some uh accompanying verses right there.
Hope you can make that out.
Anyway, this is for our accompanying verses for our lesson today.
So if y'all want to check them out later, there they are.
There's going to be a couple added to that But I didn't have time to write them down.
Been a kind of busy morning.
But that's okay.
God willing we'll get to it.
Amen Oh, well, so we can go here.
Alright, hello everybody.
If y'all haven't met Brother Neil yet, this is Brother Neil.
He was a I've been known this gentleman for several years now and uh he is uh yeah he is here now so I'd just like for everybody to make this coinch.
Wait a coinch, what is that?
Alright, so we're gonna go ahead and get started here.
Oh, the camera lady's out by the y'all can see that obviously, but uh anyway she's out.
Obviously.
Obviously, that's all right And her dog's sitting there.
She's not feeling too well, so she stayed on today.
So we're gonna be going ahead and getting started here.
Uh good afternoon, everyone.
Good afternoon, after Last week we left off in verse 21 in the book of Jude, where Jude says, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal. life.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for for all that you do, Lord.
For all you do is good.
We thank you for Getting Brother Neil situated over here, Lord, and giving him a place where he can come and hear your word talk, Father.
And Lord, we thank you for each and every person who's come here today to hear your word talk, Lord.
Lord.
And Lord, we just pray that the saints are edified here today and that the lost are pointed to Jesus and that you'll just teach through us today, Lord.
Just teach us all, Lord, and help us to understand.
We thank you and we love you so much, Lord.
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
Amen.
Okay, this is going to bug me.
Alright, that's a little better.
Alright.
We discussed the first part of the verse last week, which says, keep yourselves in the love of God.
We do not have to worry about God keeping in love with us because he has already proved how much he loves us by the greatest sacrifice of all time.
John 3. 16 says, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
That's how much God loved you folks.
He allowed his only son to be sacrificed for you.
That is love right there.
We don't have to worry about God not loving us.
But what we need to be mindful of is ourselves wandering away from loving God.
In God's word, we are compared to sheep sometimes.
And sheep, what do they like to do?
They like to wander around and graze, don't they?
When those sheep get their heads down and start munching on some tasty grass groceries.
Sometimes they get so involved in munching on grass groceries that they don't lift up their heads and see where they are.
And the next thing you know, they have done wandered away from the rest of the flock and the shepherds.
A good shepherd will notice that he is missing a sheep, and he will call for that sheep to return to the flock.
John 10, 27 says, my sheep, this is Jesus talking.
He says, my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Amen.
Sometimes we get so involved with these worldly things going on that we lose track of what we're doing.
Just like those sheep who have their head down munching on those good old tender grass brothers They wander away from the flock.
And they wander away from their shepherd.
1 Peter 2. 25 says, for ye were as sheep going astray.
But are now returned unto the shepherd and bishop of your souls.
Be mindful of wandering away.
And if you realize And if you realize you have wandered away, you have Jesus calling you back.
Don't ignore his calls In this old world we live in, folks, there are so many things that want us to keep our minds distracted from spending time with God.
Don't let those distractions pull you away from spending time with our Creator.
Don't allow yourself to get caught up in the I'm too busy trap.
To spend time with the Lord.
If you are one of Christ's sheep and you are getting a full belly of God's word, digesting what his word says.
Then you will keep yourselves in the love of God.
It's when we stray that we get ourselves in trouble.
God will always love you, even if you stray away and stop loving Him.
You might say, Brother Doug, I don't ever want to stop loving God.
I don't want to stray from God.
How do I do that?
Jude says in the second part of verse 21, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
If you have your eyes set on the return of Christ, you're not going to wander from Him.
The two words looking for used here mean to await with confidence or patience.
When I was a young child, my dad was a long-haul truck driver, and he would stay away from home for weeks at a time.
I wanted nothing more when my dad was away but to be with him.
And I probably drove mama crazy asking her over and over when daddy was coming home.
When she would finally tell me tonight, I believed her and I would lay back in my bedroom anticipating when my dad would finally walk through our front door so I could go and see him.
Now sometimes when my dad finally walked through the door after being gone for so long and I finally got to see him, I was filled with gladness.
And for those who are looking for the return of Christ, there will be gladness for them as well.
Let me back up.
I jumped the page.
Sorry about that.
Now sometimes when she would say tonight, it meant early morning.
But it would still be dark outside, so I guess that qualifies as tonight.
But when he would finally walk to the door, oh the joy that would follow Getting to see my dad in what seemed an eternity to a small child.
That is how I believe we should be waiting for our Lord.
Anticipating, waiting for Christ to come back, wanting to go see our Lord.
Titus 2. 11 through 14 says, for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.
Christ has already come.
He is came.
He gave his life for your sins.
He died on the cross.
He was buried in a tomb.
And on the third day he was risen from that tomb.
He came out of that tomb on the third day.
He has already appeared.
He has already came.
Verse 12 says, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lust, what is that?
That's wandering away, isn't it?
Isn't it?
That's wandering away.
When you do not deny ungodliness and you do not deny worldly lust, you're wandering away.
We should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.
Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.
Anxiously waiting, well maybe anxiously ain't the right word, but anticipating.
Having our eyes on the Lord returning.
That is where your hope is, folks.
That is hope right there.
I know Jesus is coming back.
I know Jesus is coming back.
I know he's coming back.
And I know what he does Oh, it's gonna be heaven.
It's gonna be heaven.
Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people.
That is a special people.
Especial people, zealous of good works, desiring to do good work.
You want to do good works when you know Christ is your Savior.
You don't want to do all the worldly, ungodly things.
You do not want to sin no more.
But we know that if we do, we have a Savior who died for those sins.
The Bible calls him an advocate, a go-between for our sins if we mess up.
Make us if we sin again.
We have an advocate.
We have a lot of them.
Now what do you suppose would have happened to me as a young child if mama would have told me that daddy was coming home one night?
And for some reason he did not.
It would have been very disappointing and upsetting to a young child who stayed up past his bedtime, patiently waiting. fighting sleep so he could see his dad before he had to leave again.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back to claim his own And we are to be looking for his return.
We are to be patiently awaiting his return.
When my mom would tell me dad is on his way.
I believe her.
And when God's word says Christ is going to return, you better believe it because God cannot lie.
Numbers 23, 19 says, God is not a man that he should lie.
Man will look you straight in the eyes and lie to you in a flash.
Just like that.
Why I work, people will tell you things and then they're lying to you.
It don't happen.
Happens all over the place.
People will lie to you just to lie to you.
My mama told me one time about somebody She said they would rather stand there flat-footed and lie to you.
No, they would rather tell you a climb a tree and lie to you than stand there flat-footed and tell you the truth.
Some people go out of their way to lie to you, but God is not a man that he should lie.
Neither the Son of Man that he should repent.
Hath he said and shall he not do it?
Or hath he spoken and shall he not make it good?
Everything that God has told us in his word either has already happened, has happened, or will happen.
It's gonna happen, folks.
Everything God has told us will happen.
And you either believe it or you don't believe it.
Amen.
You either believe God or you don't believe God.
There's no, well I believe some of this over here, but I don't believe this over here It don't work that way.
You either believe all of it or you don't believe it.
If you don't believe it, you're calling God a liar.
As a young child waiting for my dad to get home and thinking about getting to see him and spend some time with him, we should be thinking about the return of our Savior who is going to be.
Going to come back someday.
Proverbs 834 says, Blessed is the man that heareth me.
Watching daily at my gates, waiting at the post of my doors, waiting on the Lord to return.
When my dad finally walked through the door after being gone for so long and I finally got to see him, I was filled with gladness.
And for those who are looking for the return of Christ There will be gladness for them as well.
Luke 8. 40 says, and it came to pass that when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him.
For they were all waiting for him.
Those people in this verse were waiting on Jesus because they believed in his healing power.
If you have not believed in Christ's healing power through his death on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins, then you are not looking.
For the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
And instead of eternal life, You are looking for eternal death.
And that is what you are going to receive upon Christ's return and judgment is pronounced.
Obadiah 115, for the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen.
As thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee.
Thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
If you are here today and you have not accepted Christ as your Savior, you are denying him And when he returns, he will deny you.
You are not looking for his mercy, but his punishment.
Think about that.
Jesus said in Matthew 10, 32 through 33, as we start to close.
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Those who have confessed Jesus as their Savior are looking forward to his return when he makes all things new.
Amen.
There will be a new heaven. and a new earth.
And in that new earth, there will not be any unbelievers there.
Revelation 21, 1 through 2.
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth.
For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away.
And there was no more seed.
All of this is going away, folks.
If you're putting your faith in all of this here, you might as well wave it goodbye because he's going away.
And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God. out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Now if we were to skip down to Revelation 21, 7, it says, And there shall in no wise enter. into it anything that defileth.
Neither whatsoever worketh abomination or maketh a lie But they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Is your name written in the Lamb's Book of Life?
If you have believed on Christ, it is.
It is.
Matthew 10, 33 says, but whosoever shall deny me before men.
Him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Those who do not believe deny the truth.
And Revelation 21. 8 says, but the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Now as I read that to you, you didn't hear me say nothing about none of these were forgivable or not forgivable It didn't say nothing about any of that not being forgiven.
It is all forgiven.
But that isn't part of believing.
When you put your faith in the one who died for your sins, the one that took all your sin debt upon him.
He took all of these things with him.
He was punished for the fearful and the unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whormoners and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars.
He was punished for that.
All that punishment went on Jesus on the cross.
It's already forgiven.
But you have to believe.
If you don't believe in Jesus Christ and all these things which you have done Will be placed on you.
They were all placed on Christ on the cross.
Yes.
He that believeth on him is not condemned But he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. is Jesus Christ, folks.
The one that took all those sins for you in your place.
By grace are you saved through faith And that knowledge yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, lest any man should boast.
Faith in Christ Faith in Christ.
I can't say it enough.
If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Savior, you can.
You can king.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
His righteousness is Jesus Christ.
Seek him.
And I promise you, as this book right here says, you can know Jesus as your Savior if you want to.
What's holding you back?
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your precious words.
Thank you for the Holy Spirit, Lord.
Thank you so much for Jesus, Father.
Lord, we just pray, Lord, for those who don't know Christ here today.
Lord.
We want to pray, Lord, that you be drawn to the cross.
Open their eyes to Christ, Father.
I pray that they would seek you while they still can, Lord.
For we know there's coming a day, Lord.
When we lay down from this old life, when we lay this old body down, Lord, it'll be too late.
And we know, Lord, that you will show if they will seek.
Lord, we just pray, Lord, that they'll knock, because we know you'll open.
Lord, we thank you for safe passage from Brother Neil getting here, Father.
And Lord, we thank you for each and every person that's come here today to hear your word, Father.
I pray, Lord, that you were glorified here today, Lord, and that the saints were edified and that the lost were pointed to Christ.
Father.
Lord, we pray for each and every person that's sick, Father, and they can't make it here, Lord, because they can't get out of bed, Lord.
Lord, we want to pray for the caregivers that are here, Father.
We pray, Lord, that they would take care of these people the way you want them taken care of.
Lord.
We pray for each and every one's healing, Lord, according to your will.
And we pray, Lord, that you'll just let each and every one of them know that they're not alone, Father.
That you're here with them, Lord.
We thank you so much, Lord, for all you do, Lord.
For all you do is good.
And we thank you again for Jesus.
And in his name, Lord, we want to say also thank you for this. lesson and we want.
Just thank you so much for Jesus and in his name Lord we pray amen.
