All right, good afternoon everybody.
Good to see you, sir. - Good afternoon. - Good to see y'all too. - Good afternoon. - Hi, hi, ma'am.
All right.
Okay, so we're gonna be in the book of Jude today.
We go verse by verse as we are making our way through the book of Jude.
And you okay, Miss Mary?
Need some help? - No, I'm all right. - All right, I thought she was having some issues there, I was trying to help you. - No, I'm all right. (laughing) - I thought that was a good question.
Alright, so last week we left off in the book of Jude in verse 15 discussing the word "deeds" which give us the idea of our works or our acts.
So let's go ahead and read verse 14 through 15 in order to stay in context of what we are studying today and then we will pick up where we left off last Sunday, God willing.
So in the book of Jude we're going to read verse 14 to 15 and get us picked up there.
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, "Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds, which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches, which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank You so much, Lord, for Your precious Word, Lord.
We thank You for Jesus, Lord, and we thank You for Your Holy Spirit, Father.
As we start hearing Your Word today, Lord, we pray, Lord, that Your Spirit would just teach through us here, Lord.
Just teach the people, Lord, to come.
We pray that the Saints are edified father and that the lost are appointed to you here today father We thank you and love you so much Lord.
Thank you for your word Lord in Jesus name.
We pray Lord.
Amen All right, so when our Lord returns Judgment will be what takes place Those that have believed that Christ died for their sin dead, shall spend eternity with our Lord and Savior after judgment is passed down.
But when judgment is served to the ungodly, those whose sins have not been forgiven, shall spend their eternity in a lake of fire.
"The ungodly will be convicted of all their ungodly deeds."
Look back at verse 15 here in Jude, which they have ungodly committed.
He says, "And to convince all that are ungodly," that means convict, "among them of..." that's everybody that's gathered together to be judged. to convince or convict all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed.
The ungodly will be convicted of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed.
Who committed?
They.
The ungod either godly or ungodly, forgiven or not forgiven.
God does not look at the color of our skin, folks.
God does not look at the language you speak.
God does not look at your physical capabilities.
God does not look at how smart you are.
God does not look at what you do for a living are what you have done for a living?
God looks at if you agree with Him or disagree with Him.
Do you believe Christ died for your sins or not?
Jesus said in John 8, 24, "I said therefore unto you that ye shall die in your sins for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
Romans 6.23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
You can either accept the gift of God who has already received your wages of sin and died in your place on a cross, or you can refuse to believe and receive those wages yourself and die in your sins.
The ungodly will be convicted of their sins because of unbelief.
Ungodly basically boils down to unbelief.
Not believing, not godly.
Unbelieving, ungodly, period.
When we look back at verse 15 in Jude, these four words, "they have ungodly committed" are translated from one Greek word.
It's the way they translated this one Greek word.
One Greek word is translated into these four words, "they have ungodly committed."
The Greek word "Azebeho" which means to be impious or wicked.
The word impious means without respect.
Irreverent towards God which is the opposite of showing our God reverence which is the respect He deserves.
The ungodly will be convicted of all their ungodly deeds and of all their hard speeches which they have spoken against the Lord.
What are hard speeches?
Translated from the Greek word skleros, the word hard used here means dry, dry.
I tried to think of something that can grow without any moisture whatsoever.
And I even Googled it.
And from what I researched, I could not find anything that can survive without any moisture whatsoever.
Do y'all know of anything that can survive without water, without any moisture?
I couldn't find none.
These false teachers that Jude is warning us about, these ungodly individuals who speak words that do not point you to the gospel of Christ are going to be judged for their hard speeches that do not bring the quenching, refreshing, saving words of life.
Jesus said in Matthew 12, 36, "But I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."
The word idle means useless or barren.
To an individual who needs to know Christ as their Savior, idle words the bread of life, a barren field, a dry barren field, will not grow that bread that they are so desperate for.
Jesus said in John 6.25, I am the living bread which came down from heaven.
If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever and the bread that I will give It is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world.
An ungodly teacher will not point you to the bread of life.
The words they speak are dry.
They have no sustenance.
They are barren words.
On the day of judgment, all the ungodly who pointed people in the opposite direction of The gospel of Christ will be held accountable and judged accordingly.
Matthew 12, 37, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."
Do you want to be justified?
Believe that Christ died for your sins.
Romans 10.6 and we got you all marked with Romans 10.6 if you would like to follow along in Romans with me.
Romans 10.6 says, "But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this watch.
Say not in thine heart, 'Who shall ascend into heaven?'"
That is to bring Christ down from above.
"Or who shall descend into the deep?"
That is to bring up Christ again from the dead.
Jesus Christ came to the earth, born of a virgin.
He died.
He lived a perfect life, one that we cannot do, folks.
He gave His life in exchange for your sin-filled life.
He went to a cross and paid for your sin debt.
He died on that cross.
On the third day, Jesus went to the cross after his death and on the third day he rose from the dead, folks.
That is the gospel of Christ.
But what saith it, the word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart?
That is the word of faith which we preach.
That is what I preach.
Faith.
We preach Christ Jesus.
And Him alone is what I preach.
I preach Christ Jesus.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus.
What is confession?
That is speech, isn't it?
Speech.
That is what you say.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
That's not Brother Doug talking there.
That's God's Word talking.
That is God's Word that says that.
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all that call upon Him.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Folks, you want to be saved?
Faith in Christ.
You want to go to heaven?
Faith in Christ.
You want your sins forgiven?
Faith in Christ.
I can't put it no more plain than that.
The words we speak matter, folks.
When I stand here before you, I want to tell you about my Savior, Jesus the Christ.
And I want you to know that He died for you in order that you may live.
The ungodly will not tell you that.
They will not point you to the death of Christ for your salvation, but will point you to something else.
Jesus said in John 14, 6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No man cometh unto the Father but by me."
I want you to notice here folks, Jesus did not say, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No man cometh unto the Father but by saying a prayer with the preacher."
He did not say that, did He?
He did not say, "But by being baptized in some chemically induced water mixed with contaminants that are dwelling in the water, or by baptism in a scummy old pond."
He didn't say that, did He?
He did not say, "But by walking an aisle in a church up to some steps that a preacher called an altar, and kneeling down and having sinful people put their hands on you and pray."
Jesus didn't say that, did he?
No.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No man comes unto the Father but by me."
How in the world it has gotten so far off the track over all these years.
The only thing I can think of is people's greed, people's pride.
I can't think of nothing else how we have gotten so far off the track of the gospel by preachers telling people, "Well, if you come down this aisle right here, we'll say a prayer with you and you'll be saved."
That ain't what Jesus said.
That's nowhere in the Bible.
If you come down this aisle and go sit in this contaminated water, which is contaminated, the chemicals they put in that water that we have baptisms in, that's not sinless water.
It's full of contaminants.
John said, "There is one that cometh after me who will baptize you with fire.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
When you put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, God sends His Spirit to live with you, live inside of you, help to guide you, help to make your decisions, convict you when you make a wrong decision.
I know I kid it all the time.
Brother Doug, you shouldn't have said that.
Brother Doug, you shouldn't have done that.
Brother Doug, you need to apologize to that person.
I am starting to learn the best way that Brother Doug can keep out of trouble is to keep his mouth shut.
Sometimes I say some of the stupidest stuff and I don't mean it.
It just comes on out.
The Bible says who contains the tongue.
So sometimes Brother Doug has to apologize for things too.
But before I had put my faith in Christ.
Now that I have put my faith in Christ, Brother Doug you need to apologize for that.
So the Holy Spirit helps to convict us when we are wrong.
That's how you know, that's how you know that you know that you know folks.
When the Holy Spirit is living within you.
And you know, you know, you know the only way to be justified or found innocent when you are before the judge, and he's coming back, and we're all going to be found in front of him, the only way to be justified or found innocent when you are before the judge is faith in Christ.
And I will take that belief with me when my turn comes to stand before Him and I hope you will too.
And we can spend eternity with our Lord together.
Don't you want to spend eternity with the Lord forever?
Yes Lord.
Woo boy I'm looking forward to it.
Amen.
And I pray that you are too.
I pray you know Christ is your Savior.
If you don't, God's word says seek, and you will find.
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
But the emphasis is on seek.
You have to seek.
You have to want it.
And God will open the door to you.
I promise it is.
And if he'll open the door to this old man, I promise you, and He'll open it to you too.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come here today, Father, to hear your word taught, Father, and I pray, Lord, that you were glorified here today, Lord, and that I pointed them to you, Father.
I just pray that I pointed them to you, Father.
Lord, we thank you so much for Jesus, and we thank you for your Holy Spirit, Father, and we thank you for your word, Lord, And I pray, Lord, that these folks here will read your word, and they will study your word, and they will learn from your word, Father.
Lord, we thank you for the two gentlemen, Lord, that we prayed with, and they have been released.
Lord, they're not here in a war.
They've gotten to go home, Lord.
They were healed up enough to go.
And we pray, Lord, as they go out in this old world, Lord, they will tell others about your healing, Father, that they will glorify you, Father.
Lord, we pray for those who are here today that are not feeling well, Lord, and we pray that your will be done in their lives, and we pray your will be done in all of our lives, Father.
We sure thank you and we love you, Lord, and we pray for the caregivers that are here, Father.
We pray that they would care for these folks, Lord, like you would want them to be cared for, Lord.
We pray, Lord, that you will let each and every person here, Lord, that's seeking you, Father, let 'em know that they're not alone, Father.
Let them know that you're with them, Lord.
And we thank you, Lord.
We thank you for the song leader stepping up and helping us with lead singing, Lord.
And we wanna pray for Brother Larry, Lord, his health issues that's going on with him right now, Lord.
And we pray for your will to be done in that matter with him, Lord.
We thank you, Lord, and we love you, Father.
We just pray, Lord, that you bring us all back here again, Lord, to share in your word, Lord.
Thank you and love you, Father.
In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Amen.
