Alright, he's going to bear company verses today.
Now, what we're going to do, we're going to start off with 2 Peter, and I'll explain why in a minute.
That's where we're gonna start off at.
But anyway, these are our accompanying verses here.
There we go.
Thank y'all.
Let's see.
All right.
Good afternoon, everybody.
Boy, I sure enjoyed that singing.
That was fun.
I enjoyed coming and singing and fellowshipping with y'all.
There's just no words can describe it.
And we enjoyed what's coming next.
Well, praise God.
All right.
So, good afternoon, everyone.
I hope everyone.
Has enjoyed some of God's Word this past week?
And if you haven't, I want to encourage you to start reading your Bibles and seeking the Lord through His Word.
I believe one of the first steps to being saved is to listen to God.
And after you believe, you want to start learning more and more how to listen to God.
As I started my study for Jude this past week, my mind was filled with wanting to encourage you and point you to opening up God's Word and reading and meditating on it for yourself.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for all that you do, Lord.
For all you do is good, Father.
Even your judgments are good and true, Lord.
We thank you for Jesus so much, Lord.
Father, we want to pray for those who come here today, Lord, that the saints will be edified, Father, and that the lost are pointed to you, Lord.
We thank you so much for Jesus.
We thank you for your precious word, Father.
And we pray, Lord, that people will just open it up and get into it for themselves and meditate on it, Lord, and learn of you and your ways, Father.
Father, we thank you and we love you, Lord.
In Jesus' name we pray, Lord.
Amen.
Amen.
Alright.
The more you seek, The more you find, no greater joy on this earth will fill your mind than the word of God so many leave behind.
Read your Bibles, folks.
God blessed us with them because He loves us and wants us to be saved.
From the wrath to come.
And y'all remember back in Jude, where we've been in Jude.
Jews talk about, he said, Enoch prophesied that the Lord's coming back.
Now that's not the only place that that is written in God's Word.
So today I've got everybody marked and we're going to join this all back to Jude But right now I'll have y'all marked in 2 Peter 3 verse 9.
2 Peter chapter 3 verse 9.
And if I didn't get you marked, I apologize about that.
But let me know next time if you want me to get your Bibles marked for you, and I will do my best to get that done.
2 Peter 3, verse 9.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering to usward.
Not willing that any should perish.
God does not want any of his creation to perish, folks.
He does not want you to perish.
But that all should come to repentance.
God has blessed you with His Word, folks.
I cannot stress to you enough how important it is.
For you to read God's Word.
Please, folks, read God's Word.
2 Peter 3:10, but the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.
In the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.
The earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved.
What manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God?
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.
Nevertheless, we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent, that ye may be found of him in peace without spot and blameless.
The word diligent.
Used here comes from the Greek word spudadzo.
My Greek's getting a little improving a little, isn it?
Spudadzo.
What?
Spudadzo.
That is Greek.
And it means make effort, labor, study.
Now, here is one thing that I can guarantee you without a shadow of a doubt in my mind.
And that is, this world is going away.
Amen.
How do you know that, Brother Doug?
Because of God's word.
We just read it.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.
The earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
This old sin-filled world is going away, and I know that because God said so in his word, and we just read it together.
Without God's word, how would I have known that until it was too late?
One of the reasons God blessed us with His Word is to warn us of this upcoming day that will come.
And another reason He gave us His word is so that you will be prepared for when it does.
And the only way to be prepared is through faith in Christ as your Savior.
If you want to be found of him in peace without spot and blameless.
Hebrews 11, 6 says, but without faith, it is impossible to please him.
For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
That's right.
The words of them that diligently seek is the translation from a Greek word that means search out.
Investigate, seek after.
And the way you do that is through reading God's Word.
Jesus said in Matthew 11, 29, take my yoke upon you and learn of me.
For I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Praise God!
That's an order.
Straight from the one who is going to return someday and judge each and every one of us.
Take my yoke upon you before they had these fancy tractors All they had to work with was a plow and a mule team, or sometimes they would use horses hooked up to the plow in order to pull it.
When the farmers yoked or coupled two mules and horses together, the workload was lighter on both.
Because they were hooked together, both pulling instead of just one pulling and struggling, wearing themselves out.
When you take the yoke of Christ upon you.
Or couple yourself together with him, our verse says, ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Your soul is no longer struggling, wearing you out about where you will be for eternity.
Once this simple flesh returns to the earth from which it was made.
Why?
Because Christ did all the work for you when He gave Himself as a sacrifice through crucifixion on a wooden cross in order to pay for all your sins.
He was taken from that cross after his death and placed in a tomb where he laid for three days until he rose up.
Overcoming death.
And when you yoke yourself to Him by faith, your soul will be raised up, overcoming death as well, to spend eternity with Him.
Amen.
But for those who don't yoke themselves to Christ, those who want to distance themselves from him and believe, like Cain, that they don't need to bring the blood of an innocent sacrifice. but their own works, their souls shall suffer the second death, which is going to be pain and agony in a lake of fire, and spend eternity separated From that yoke of Christ, which was so lovingly offered but rejected.
Christ did all the work for you, folks.
His yoke is not burdensome.
Christ says, learn of me.
God gave us his word in order for us to do that very thing.
From the beginning of the Old Testament all the way to the end of the New Testament, God's word points us to Christ, folks, in some way, shape, or form.
God's word is about his precious son, and the only way you are going to learn of him is by reading your Bibles.
Some of you may be thinking that we can also learn by listening to the preachers.
How are you going to know that what the preacher is saying is true unless you verify it through what the scriptures say?
Jude.
See how I brought that into Navy?
Well, God did that for me.
God brought that in front of circumlocutions.
Jude has been telling us about these false teachers.
We have been making our way through the book of Jude, and he has been giving us different ways to understand how false teachers are.
In verse 16 in the book of Jude, he says, These are murmurs, complainers, walking after their own lusts, and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
Now last week we discussed these ungodly false teachers walking after their own lusts, which are contrary to God.
1 John 2. 16 says, For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
These ungodly false teachers are just in it for what they can gain from you in order to satisfy their worldly lusts.
They are not in it to tell you about what you can gain through faith in Christ.
Jude says here in verse 16, and their mouth speaketh great swelling words.
Something that I found interesting.
The word mouth used here has a few different definitions.
One was a gash in the face.
Another definition was language.
But the one I found very interesting was an opening in the earth.
Do y'all remember the story of Korah that we went over here a while back?
We talked about Korah.
Remember how murmuring got him in trouble?
It was his mouth that was used to murmur against Moses and Aaron, and it was the earth's mouth that swallowed him up.
Our mouths can either start trouble or they can stop trouble.
We don't have to murmur and we don't have to complain.
I thought that was interesting here.
Here in Jude, Jude says, these ungodly teachers' mouths Speaketh great swelling words.
The definition used here means bulging over, great swelling words, bulging over.
They like to brag on themselves about how smart they are and how much schooling they have had.
They want you to think that they are the smartest in the room.
Well, I'm going to tell you right now that God is the smartest in the room and none of the words that I have ever spoken that I am speaking or ever will speak are they are only made possible because God allows me the blessing of speech.
God is the one who has given me the ability to speak, and God can take that away if He so chooses.
There is a wonderful story that you can read in the book of Luke, chapter 1.
If y'all want to look that up later on your own time, when you're reading your Bibles, you can go to chapter.
The book of Luke and start off in chapter one.
And it's about the father of John the Baptist who learned that speech is only made possible by God Himself.
God took his speech away and God gave it back to him.
If you get a chance to read that, it's in the book of Luke, chapter 1.
Just read the chapter, it's a wonderful chapter.
Okay, these ungodly teachers that Jude has been telling us about do not understand.
They do not understand that because they do not reverence God.
These ungodly teachers that speak great swelling words are only trying to impress the ones who appear to have worldly wealth.
Look back at verse 16 in Jude.
Jude says, And their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
This means that these ungodly teachers are looking at how you are dressed, what fancy clothes or jewelry you're wearing.
They want to try to impress those who look the part of having money in order to try and talk you out of it.
So they can squander it on their own worldly lusts.
After all, they can't fulfill buying their fancy house and cars and airplanes without money.
And instead of getting a job and earning a living, they would rather prosper off of your living.
Paul says in the book of Romans chapter 16, verses 17 and 18, as we begin to wind down here, folks.
Paul says, Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions. offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned and avoid them.
The word mark used here means to take aim.
Now, a good marksman is going to lay his eyes on something before he pulls the trigger in.
You have to focus on what you are aiming at.
And Paul says, mark them or observe those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned.
And I'm going to tell you right now that Paul taught faith in Christ crucified for the forgiveness of sins.
And all those who are not teaching Christ crucified for the forgiveness of sins cause divisions.
And offenses.
Mark them.
For they, verse eighteen, for they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ. but their own belly, and by good words and fair speeches deceived the hearts of the simple.
If you don't want to be deceived, read your Bible, folks.
Two things that I can guarantee you of.
Number one, Our Lord is coming back someday to judge the people.
And the second is that those who have not believed in Christ as their Savior will be condemned.
I've said it a million times and I'm going to say it again.
He that believeth on him is not condemned.
But he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God Praise God.
Praise God.
What a blessing.
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for your precious word, Lord.
We thank you for this lesson that you blessed us with here today, and we're so thankful for those who have come to hear it, Lord.
We pray, Lord, that the saints were edified, Father, and that the lost were pointed to you, Father.
We pray, Lord, that those who have.
Bible: that those who have your word will open your word and read your word and meditate on your word, and that you will just open their minds to learning from.
Teach those who seek you, Lord.
Please, Lord, just teach them, Father.
And we pray, Lord, that they will seek you.
Your word says, Seek ye first the kingdom of God, Lord.
And we do that by opening your word, Lord, and learning of you.
Thank you so much, Father, for Jesus, Lord.
And we just thank you so much for your Holy Spirit and your word, Lord.
We want to pray for those who are here today, Lord, that are sick, Lord.
And we just pray, Lord, that you'll care for them.
Have the caregivers here, Lord, care for them the way you want them to be cared for, Lord.
We thank you, Lord, for Brother Larry and his wife, Lord.
Being able to come back, Father, and to lead the songs, Father.
We thank you for the man that filled in for them on the gone.
And we thank you, Lord, and we just pray for each and every person that's come today, Lord.
We thank you, Lord, and we love you.
We ask these things in Jesus' name today, Lord.
Amen.
