All right, good afternoon everyone. We've been going verse by verse studying the book of Jude. Now last week we started off with Proverbs chapter 4 verses 26 and 27 which says Ponder the path of thy feet and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left. Remove thy foot from evil Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for each and every person that's come here today, Lord, to hear your word, Father. We're thankful so much, Lord, for the ones that tune in to hear it as well, Lord. We just pray, Lord, for a wonderful fellowship here in your word today, Lord. We pray that your spirit will teach here today, Lord, and that each and every ear is attempted, Father We pray that we learn today, Lord. We pray that you would just bless us here, Lord. And we thank you and love you so much, Lord, as we open your word here today, Father We thank you and we love you, Lord, and in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. Now, those Who have done this, the ones who have removed their foot from evil and have let all their ways be established, those who have done this have realized That the road that they were on was heading toward a destination that they did not want to end up at One road with two directions going the opposite way or going the opposite of each other. One way takes you to a land flowing with milk and honey, and the other way takes you to a pit with fire and misery. Those who have chosen to believe in Christ as their Savior have chosen to remove their foot from evil and have repented of their sins and are now heading in the direction to their promised land. But those who chose to ignore, those who choose to ignore the call of our Lord, who is asking you to turn around. You will end up in the destination that was created for the devil and his angels. Because that is the direction you chose. I walked many a miles in that direction, folks. Many a miles. No one forced me to. It was a choice that I made. And there were many, many bad decisions. Bad choices That I made. But when I finally listened to our Heavenly Father calling for me to turn around and look to Christ as my Savior. My ways became established through faith in the death of Christ for my sins, and I became one of the Lord's beloved. 3 John 1. 11 says, Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God, but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. Now remember as we look back at Jew verse 17. That the word beloved means dearly or well loved. Jude verse 17 says But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude has been telling us about the characteristics and the outcome of the ungodly in our previous verses. The ungodly are the opposite of the beloved. Now please don't get the idea that God does not love the ungodly. God loves the ungodly so much that he sacrificed his only son in order that they be saved. If y'all know it, say it with me. John 3, 16 and 17. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. God gave His only Son for each and every one to be saved. Now Hello, Jock, come on in, sir. Put you at this door to Jock. Come on in, Mr. Jock. No, come on in. You wouldn't have liked to sit next to him. Now come on in, we've got we're in the middle of service here. Let's come on in, shut the door. There we go. Sorry about that, folks. Let's see here. God gave his only son for each and every one to be saved. Now, if that is not love, Then I do not know what he wants. John 15:13 says, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. To allow your only son to die in order to save others is something that I just don't know if I could do. And I pray that I never have to be faced with that decision. Abraham was, and he trusted God. Those who refuse to believe God are still loved by God. But those who choose to believe God are beloved of God. When Jude says here in verse 17, but beloved. He is speaking to those who have trusted in Christ as their Savior. And he says, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. The ungodly do not care to remember the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. But the beloved do. I can remember before when I was heading in the wrong direction. I did not want to read God's Word because I thought I was just too busy. And frankly, reading God's Word. Just did not interest me. Why? Because I was ungodly. I did not revere God. I did not fear God. Looking back now, I realize that God could have called me to be judged at any time. And I would have to have had to pay for my sins myself. But I am so thankful that he showed me that Christ has already paid for my sins. And I believe him. And now, when he calls me to be judged, I am at peace with the decision that the judge is going to rule concerning my eternal life. The ungodly do not want to think about what will happen when they reach their destination. They put that way of thinking off or they say stuff like we just die and that's the end They refuse to think about heaven and hell or if they do they just joke about it Well, I hope I'm good enough. Well, you know, God weighs this good that we do here. and the bad that we do over here and if this good outweighs this bad then we're going to go to heaven folks that's a joke that's not true that's not nowhere in god's word For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. That's Ephesians 2:8. Some of the ungodly even want you to think that when our fleshly bodies finally give out, that we come back as a cow or a goat or some kind of plant. You laugh. I laugh too. That's funny, isn't it? How in the world people can believe that? But they do. They do. They do, and that's a crazy sad. Nowhere in God's word does it say that. There are so many false teachings out there. They're pointing you away from the one true God. That if you do not remember the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, you could get turned around quickly. And the way you remember is by staying in God's word, folks. Now where did the apostles get the words they spoke? 2 Timothy 3. 16 says, All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine. for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. The other I see here the word remember used here comes from a Greek word that gives us the idea of a fixture in the mind Or a mental grasp. Have you ever heard people say, just wrap your mind around that? I wish more people would wrap their minds around this. I wish they would. The other day I was out back mowing in our field. I had made a round and on my return path. I saw a bunch of things going in a circle above the ground on which I had mowed. The closer I got. I realized I had mowed over a bumblebee nest. Those great big black and yellow looking bees that really hurt when they sting you. Those that, if they slap you upside the head, you know that are there. Those big old fatals. Now I know they really hurt because I remember. I have wrapped my mind around something. I have grasped it. I remember my mother getting stung by one many years ago. And I saw how where she got stung had swollen up. And I could tell she was in terrible pain from the tears she was crying Now, Mama, I don't know if you remember that, but I bet you do. I bet Mama remembers it, getting stung by that. Some people can learn from things that happen to others. and remember what they went through and not want to go through that themselves. And some people have to go through things themselves in order to learn. Now many things I've seen that I had to experience myself in order to learn. But some things I've seen That I don't want to go through to learn. When I saw that thick swarm of bees circling that nest, I remember the pain that my mother went through. And I did not want to go through that. So guess what Brother Doug did? I turned around and went the opposite direction. I went away from that pain. I did not want to experience that. God has given us His word to show us about the pain that others have gone through. It is our responsibility to learn and remember while we can. Let's look at Hebrews chapter 3 and we're going to start reading at verse 7. Now I got everybody's mark. Set respect and coming a little lucky tense. Well, that's alright. It's in the confinement. Hebrews chapter 3. Chapter 3, we're going to start reading, verse 7. I think you got your mark, Miss Works. Miss Mary, your mark? We'll give them a second to get there and get a shot of this water view. Hebrews chapter 3, verse 7. Now we're going to learn here. From what the children of Israel went through. And you could go back in Exodus and you could read this stuff. Exodus is a good one for you. Verse 7, Hebrews 3, verse 7. Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost saith, This ain't Brother Doug. This is God's word saying this, folks. Today, if ye will hear. His voice, part of learning and remembering, is hearing. Part of it is seeing. Harden not your hearts as in the provocation in the day of temptation in the wilderness. The word provocation gives us the idea of an irritation. Irritation. The children of Israel kept provoking the Lord and not trusting him. They kept irritating him and would not believe him. In the day of temptation in the wilderness, the word temptation means putting to proof. By experiment or experience, God took the children of Israel through some adversity by taking them through the wilderness. It's not all smooth sailing, folks. And when things get tough, you just keep following God and don't complain about the journey. You keep your eyes on that cloud. You keep your eyes on God. Don't complain about it, and I want to tell you, Brother Doug has to do the same thing. In this old flesh, folks, it is so easy. And I can tell you, I'm just like anybody else. I want to complain when things aren't going my way. I want to complain when somebody above me is causing me all kinds of problems. I want to complain when somebody on the highway pulls out in front of me and goes two miles an hour. You know, in the flesh, my wife's not. In the flesh, we want to complain. But we have to not complain. Just remember, it's part of the journey, folks. God is never not in control. It is all a test. When your fathers tempted me, this is the Holy Spirit speaking. Proved me and saw my works forty years. God led them through the wilderness, and their clothes never wore out. They did not starve because God fed them. They did not die of thirst because God made sure they had water. God supplied all their needs, and yet they still doubted God. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation and said, they do always err in their heart, and they have not known my ways. For 40 years God was patient with them. For 40 years God was patient with them to believe him. Unbeliever, how long has God been patient with you? How long have you put off learning God's ways? So I swear in my wrath, they shall not enter in my rest. They did not enter into God's wrath. God's rest is at the end of the road that leads to God. Those who have refused to believe God shall suffer the wrath of God and will not enter into his rest. But they will enter into the place prepared for the devil and his angels. Hebrews 3. 12. Take heed. Brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God. We all have a heart, folks. I ain't talking about this beating muscle in here that keeps the blood flowing, folks. This is referring to your innermost being, your soul. This is what houses your spirit. We are made up of a body, this fleshly body that we can see. This fleshly body houses our soul, which in turn houses our spirit, which we cannot see, but God can. When you believe in Christ as your Savior, God sends His Spirit to live in your soul with your Spirit Why? Because you have believed God. Those who do not believe God still have an evil heart of unbelief. Hebrews 3 13, but exhort one another daily while it is called today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. The word exhort used here means to call near. When we stay near other believers in Christ, we put each other in remembrance of our Savior. The ungodly do not put you in remembrance of our Savior, but of the things of this world, not of the world to come. Hebrews 3. 14. For we are made partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end. While it is said, today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Once again, the word provocation used here basically means to irritate. After God brought the children of Israel out of bondage, they kept on complaining about their new freedom. They had forgotten what it was like to be a slave to an evil taskmaster. They did not remember what God had brought them out of and took for granted what they had complained about when they had complained about their situation. 3. 16 as we start to quote. For some, when they had heard, did provoke. How be it not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? And to whom swear he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believe not. So we see that they could not enter in because of belief. Folks, if you don't remember nothing we read and spoke about today, please remember this. Without faith in Christ as your Savior, when it comes time for your spirit to be judged, you will spend eternity in a lake of fire in misery and torment, remembering the time You are given to repent and believe. Deuteronomy 32:6. Do ye thus requit the Lord? That means recompense or reward. O foolish people and unwise, is this how you pay God back? Is not He thy Father that hath bought thee? God sent His only begotten Son to pay the penalty for each and every one of your sins. You are bought by the shed blood of Christ. If you do not believe, is that how you pay God back? By unbelief. Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? Yes, he is. Hath he not made thee? Hath he not made thee? The reason you are here today is because of God and established thee. Remember the days of old, all the stuff. That God has given to us, for example, the children of Israel, story of Jacob, all of it, everything, Noah and the ark. Everything that you can think of in God's Word is given to us to teach us. Remember the days of old. Consider the years of many generations. Ask thy father and he will show thee. Thy elders and they will tell thee. Why? Because they remember. They remember. God bless me with a little poem here as we close. Our thoughts will wander from time to time. Be so thoughtful about what fills your mind. Let the word of God run vividly through. For in the end. You wish you knew. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much, Lord, for this time that you've blessed us here, Lord, to come together and share in your word, Father. I pray, Lord, that you were glorified here today, Lord, and that the lost were pointed to Jesus, Father, and that the saints were edified, Father. Lord, we thank you so much for your precious word, Lord. We thank you for Jesus, and we thank you for your Holy Spirit, Lord. We thank you for all that you do, good. All that you do, Father, for all you do is good, Lord. We are so blessed, Lord. We thank you for each and every blessing you bestow upon us, Father. We want to pray for those, Lord, who don't know Christ as their Savior, Father, that you would just draw them to the cross and show them Christ. We pray that they would seek your face, Father, while they still act fine, Lord. Lord, we want to pray for those who are ill here, Lord, that are suffering from sickness. Health ailments, Lord, spiritual ailments as well, Lord. We just pray, Lord, that your will be done in their lives, Father. We pray that your will be done in our lives as well. We want to pray for the caregivers here, Lord, that take care of these people, Lord, and we pray, Father, that they'll take care of them the way you want these people to be taken care of, Lord. Lord, we thank you and we just love you so much, Father. Thank you so much, Lord. We ask these things in Jesus' name today, Lord. I want to pray for all them things I'm forgetting to mention as well, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, Lord, amen.
